Emergency Heroes to put out fires on Wii this May
Ubisoft has announced plans to race to the Wii scene this May with "an open world rescue driving game" called Emergency Heroes. While details remain sketchy, Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will feature two-player co-op and 16 different police, fire, and EMT vehicles to drive about while protecting the city of San Alto.
Strapped into the driver's seat on this Wii-exclusive project are both Ubisoft Barcelona and Ubisoft Reflections, the latter of which has more than a few racing games to its credit. Even so, we remain unsure of how to feel about Emergency Heroes, as while Reflections struck gold in 1999 with Driver, since then the company has become better known for having driven the franchise off a cliff with all of the gusto of a man with a death wish.

Why would someone make a game for the Wii? Especially a racing game? Honestly, MKWii comes out this month, do they honestly think anyones going to buy any other non Nintendo game thats a racing game?
This is why people will flock to the PS3 when they see only first partys have games with huge sales on Wii. I feel bad for developers putting their time in the Wii when it will all be wasted and run over by the Nintendo crap (such as Mario Party 8, Wii Fit and Wii Play) that gets bought on the Wii.
Curtis the Claw: Brawl Code 1075-0441-3284 @ Mar 31st 2008 6:39PM
Isn't it obvious? The Wii has a huge install base and is constantly the number 1 seller in console hardware.
Also, I do agree Mario Party 8 wasn't that great, but have you played Wii Fit? If so, where? Including Wii Play in your post was stupid as well, obviously people buy that for the wiimote that comes with it.

Wow. Because of Mario Kart no one will ever buy another racing game? Both ExciteTruck and Need for Speed sold fairly well on the console, and ExciteTruck rules. As far as non-Nintendo companies go, Ubisoft has shown a decent track record on the console in comparison to others. I had no idea Mario Kart was THE definitive racing title that everyone will want to the point they'll ignore and never purchase any other.
"This is why people will flock to the PS3" This line is just so good, way to go. I'd thought it was fairly well accepted by most that the reason you get a Wii is largely for Nintendo games, but when do you think people will suddenly open their eyes to it?
Give the console you're a lame fanboy for a little more credit than that. I already have a 360 and a Wii, but hope to get a PS3 soon, and it has nothing at all to do with the lame, lame reasons you're citing.
Oh yeah, and I feel bad for profitable non-Nintendo developers too, really do.

I didn't say no one will EVER by another racing game, I meant that in that sort of 3 months after release of MKWii. And both games you listed sold well because MKWii wasn't out yet.
"Mario Kart was THE definitive racing title that everyone will want to the point they'll ignore and never purchase any other."
That generally happens on a Nintendo console because all in all even I can admit Mario Kart Wii is extremely fun. Most non-gamers buy Mario Kart Wii and never need a different racing title. Same thing goes with Gran Turismo on PlayStation.
"This is why people will flock to the PS3""
sorry sorry I meant devs will flock to PS3 as a profitable console to develop on where people actually buy third party games.

As a big fan of 'Burning Rangers' and 'Blast Corps,' I'm intrigued... In a weird way, it sounds kind of like 'Crazy Taxi', too.
Howl Pendragon @ Mar 31st 2008 6:42PM
Yes however rarely do non-shovelware crap, and games not by Nintendo have decent sales. Look at Zack and Wiki for example or even No More Heroes.
I played Wii Fit in Japan thank you very much.
Fernando Rocker @ Mar 31st 2008 6:46PM
Both Zack & Wiki and No More Heroes are around 300,000 each in sales.
Plus... why do you complain about sales? There are more Wii third party million sellers on the Wii than in the PS3.
Howl Pendragon @ Mar 31st 2008 6:54PM
300,000 is very low to the 12 million plus Wii's that are out there.
Fatass of Kickassness @ Mar 31st 2008 8:44PM
They certainly weren't financial failures, though.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Apr 1st 2008 11:32AM
I think you mean 23 million +.
voodoo_craig @ Mar 31st 2008 6:45PM
I think I'd really like another Burning Rangers game, anyone else?
Casey R Williams @ Mar 31st 2008 8:14PM
Yeah, but we're probably among the only 20 people who ever played it.
psyborg @ Mar 31st 2008 6:58PM
Meh, This game just makes me wish there was a Crackdown title on the Wii, lol.
LOKIOLR @ Mar 31st 2008 7:03PM
The funny thing is Codemasters has a game coming out in a few weeks that is basically the same thing. Their game is called Emergency Mayhem though. It's also very much like Crazy Taxi with emergency vehicles and mini-games. It makes you wonder who is copying who.
BPM X: Soul Eraser [SSBB: 5026 4120 1186] @ Mar 31st 2008 7:17PM
Emergency Mayhem was also originally a PS2 and Xbox title, but was canned due to Acclaim (the original publisher) filing for bankruptcy. Codemasters obtained the project and finished it for Wii.
Howl Pendragon @ Mar 31st 2008 7:09PM
This game looks terrible, but I guess thats the expected graphics on Wii. Most people that play Wii are used to Wii Sports graphics anyways so this may actually seem like HD 1080p to them!
Mr Khan @ Mar 31st 2008 7:13PM
This game looks alright, for now
We'll have to see where it goes, obviously, but it seems like a more serious variant of Emergency Mayhem
Mills and Boom @ Mar 31st 2008 8:00PM
I don't know or care who this company is.
Casey R Williams @ Mar 31st 2008 8:17PM
I'd like someone to make the developers play Super Runabout (DC) for about three days straight before they continue working on this game. There just needs to be more stuff to run into.
tb @ Mar 31st 2008 9:44PM
sounds a lot like an anti-GTA
Geist @ Apr 1st 2008 1:14AM
Okay, but wtf is a 'racing rescue' game?
LaughingTarget @ Apr 1st 2008 6:48AM
The PD and FD if the city are in a pissing match to see who is better, so when there is an emergency, they race to see who gets there first. The PD sics dogs on fires and the FD squirts water on criminals. Note the police and fire cars attacking each other in the picture?
s.mario @ Apr 1st 2008 9:58AM
i've already played this game...it was called "Grand Theft Auto"...
Abulance
Firetruck
Police
missions...
