Ninja Gaiden's Yosuke Hayashi 'very interested' in Wii

It's no secret that Team Ninja has a reputation for being outspoken and confident in their products. Hayashi is no different. At TGS, we grilled Tomonobou Itagaki about DS action games, and he admitted he played none. However, Hayashi's statement is far more bold: "Itagaki may have said that he's never played any action DS games. But I've played a lot, and none of them were good enough to remember. There's no comparison [to Ninja Gaiden], right?"
"There's a very good possibility," Hayashi said when asked about the possibility of DS follow-up to Dragon Sword. "We want to offer a completely different side of the Ninja Gaiden series in a handheld title. There are so many things I can see we can work around if we work on another project."
However, a DS sequel may not be the first thing on Hayashi's mind. He talked about how so many fans at the Nintendo World Store wanted a Ninja Gaiden game for the Wii. Without going into details, he simply noted that it was something he was "very interested" in working on.

As long as you can interact with the boob physics via Wiimote, they can make whatever they want.
Joshua @ Mar 31st 2008 3:06PM
Did you have to edit that picture of Daisy? Something seems to be missing...

Can you add me in brawl?

Guys, beware the mindtaker.

Does anyone else think that drawing of an arm to his left looks like a big penis if you just glance at it?
samfish @ Mar 31st 2008 9:51AM
Maybe if it's one of those penises that has weights and bowling balls hanging from it...
Nigeria: Cody ChesnuTT Defense Force @ Mar 31st 2008 9:53AM
How can this be a Ninja Gaiden post and we're talking about arm-penis. I mean, Samfish already set a precedent with the first post.
Come on, priorities people.
WiNG @ Mar 31st 2008 11:17AM
Actually that's what I thought it was when I saw the article.
What can I say?
Bleu @ Mar 31st 2008 9:48AM
I dont know about this one. Ninja Gaiden has some of the best graphics around and to put this game on the wii......they probably just care about the amount of people who have one and so think they can make a lot of money, so I dont think their will be any quality to this game at all.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Zeon Defense Force) @ Mar 31st 2008 10:40AM
didn't people say the same thing about Ninja Gaiden on the DS? From what I hear, they really delivered on that front, what makes you think they won't on Wii?
Anni (Smash FC: 0946-1930-4929) @ Mar 31st 2008 12:35PM
"so I dont think their will be any quality to this game at all"
Because graphics is obviously synonymous with quality, right?
i_hate_mtv @ Mar 31st 2008 2:14PM
Katamari Damacy.
Nuff said.
Bleu @ Mar 31st 2008 2:33PM
So I guess you guys think I was wrong for what I wrote. Do you see yourselves playing a game like ninja gaiden on the wii. I am not knocking it but I just dont see a good like this coming to the wii.....for what???
i_hate_mtv @ Mar 31st 2008 2:45PM
Actually, I think Ninja Gaiden could work very well on the Wii.
biff Superman @ Mar 31st 2008 9:50AM
PENIS
i_hate_mtv @ Mar 31st 2008 10:25AM
It probably won't happen. That's the way it always is. "We would like to work on X game for the Wii, but we don't have anything in the works at the moment".
deaftly @ Mar 31st 2008 10:29AM
He might be but I'm sure as hell not anymore.
Jerk Face @ Mar 31st 2008 11:00AM
Yep. Same here. *sigh*
Mabui @ Mar 31st 2008 10:56AM
If only the motion detection technology was a little bit better on the Wii, or easier to develop for. That I wouldn't feel like companies bringing popular franchises over would be so likely to miss the mark completely on it.
Every time a company says "We're bringing this game to Wii!" I can't help but feel a rush of apprehension as it seems most of the results are poor, and struggling. So few games knock it down in a satisfying way, it is like the touch screen, the analog stick, all over again.
Here is hoping if he does make something, they get over Wii's biggest barrier.
Mr Khan @ Mar 31st 2008 4:14PM
I would be skeptical, but the basic framework for the ultra-bloody action game has already been laid down by No More Heroes. They would just have to build off of something similar to what Suda 51 started, obviously something much more complex, but the basis is there
Count Noobula @ Mar 31st 2008 12:23PM
I am all for Ninja Gaiden games. I would be up for a Ninja Gaiden game on Wii, providing its not Black using the Wiimote, and that their business strategy doesn't become: Milk The Ninja Gaiden franchise to death.
Gurei @ Mar 31st 2008 1:33PM
these aint 100%,weve known about Tecmos Team Ninjas interest in nintendos better "interaction" systems, and posible DOA or NG games for some time.
Lol i remember when itagaki mentioned how the idea of interacting with the DOA girls using the ds would be LOL,i cant even imagine what ideas hed have...dirty ideas.
Ninjakamster @ Mar 31st 2008 1:35PM
Hey, if the PS3 had sold infinity billion number of systems as the Wii has done so far, he'd be interested in that instead.
AwesomeStuff @ Apr 1st 2008 1:22PM
lol @ reality.
hvnlysoldr @ Mar 31st 2008 2:07PM
Those comments that Itagaki did earlier to the effect his kids begged for a DS and Wii games from him combined with this makes me happy.
rowd149 @ Mar 31st 2008 7:54PM
Sorta OT, but can someone please explain to me why there was a launch event for this, of all things, and NOT SSBB!? I was actually in New York the night before, and they're like, "Oh, now, we're not gonna have one." T_T I wept.
Superstar90 @ Apr 1st 2008 9:45AM
Because the city of New York can only hold so many people.
Justin @ Mar 31st 2008 2:48PM
lol, At first glance I though the arm in the image behind the guy was male genitalia.
LaughingTarget @ Mar 31st 2008 3:00PM
He should be interested. The Wii is selling a bajillion units more than the competition combined. Talk about a sweet market.
