[Update 7:30pm ET: Our poker buddies at X3F let us know that the extremely impatient amongst you need wait no longer. That's right, "Still Alive" is available on Xbox 360 right now; unfortunately, PS3 owners still have to wait until April 17th. Go get it!]
This is a triumph! And, of course, by "triumph" we really mean "not an April Fool's joke." Harmonix has just announced availability and pricing details for the Rock Band release of Jonathan Coulton's cult hit "Still Alive": it's dropping tomorrow for the low, low price of $0.00.
"Still Alive" - Jonathan Coulton (0 MS points/ $0)
Video for this week's Rock Band DLC is after the break (including our own vid of Coulton performing the song in Rock Band live!). We're going to warn you now that the song is a spoiler for Portal, but if you haven't spent the three hours to finish Joystiq's GOTY by this point ... well, we're sorry. "Still Alive" will be available tomorrow on Xbox Live and on April 17 for PSN due to the store update.
Portal landed the top spot in our 2007 Game of the Year Awards, but who filled the other nine spots? We've got Halo 3, Call of Duty IV, Rock Band, Peggle (yeah Peggle), and more. Take a look.
Maybe the April Fool's joke is the price - they drive everyone to go download it and then it turns out to be 800 points just for the one song. Hahahahah. That would be funny. No.
You have to be kidding me. This is a joke for sure. What a piece of crap song. I probably will not even waste my time messing with this, even if it is free.
I'm totally, completely psyched for Still Alive, but... only one song this week? I guess the last 2 weeks of 6-song packs balance it out, but it's still a little bit sad.
I thought the PS Store Update was for Europe only or did I read that wrong?
As for the DLC being a April Fool's joke I don't think that is the case. But I'll have to agree with jsn. I think there will be more than just the "Still Alive" DLC for the usual price(s) of course.
Nevermind I just checked PS3Fanboy and got my answer. It appears the U.S. Store is also recieving the update, which means no new content for two weeks. All I can say is that this update better be worth it.
I might have to go buy old DLC I didn't want before just to holdl myself over for the next two weeks.
Behold, God hates me. My 360 red ringed yesterday. Oh the irony. Why couldnt it have red ringed a month ago, when nothing was happening. I knew it was gonna happen eventually (Manufacture date is Nov. 11, 2005), but the timing couldnt be worse.
P.S. Before the fanboys jump in, I love my 360, and I was expecting this eventually
Played it at least 6 times... It's the first song I download for Rock Band and I waited for it for so long... and it's free ! It's hard to overstate my satisfaction (sorry couldn't resist).
