Scott Steinberg, VP of product marketing at Sony America, isn't concerned about Microsoft's exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV content. Speaking with GameDaily, Steinberg believes anyone who's played GTA: San Andreas knows there's plenty to do in a GTA game without adding extra content, but he really drives the point home with a zinger saying Microsoft "spent the GNP of several small Latin American countries to get that [content]."
Steinberg surmises that not a huge percentage of customers are going to jump for the downloadable content when GTA IV is so huge and they're still playing through the core game. He also contends that consumers who are still fence sitting about purchasing a console will want a PS3 after noticing that GTA IV, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue are all on PS3.

That said, as an owner of both systems, I'm still getting the 360 version primarily because of the DLC. Sorry Sony!

I managed to get an extra "you" in there.
And for the people that state exclusives don't sell consoles: I would have purchased a PS3 for this game, if it was only available on a playstation. As it stands now, I'll be picking up a PS3 when FF ships.
As For the PS3 I'll just wait for Gran Turismo 5
But I'd be waiting for PC. ;)
Now if you don't have XBL, the PS3 version might be something to look at. Although, if you can afford a PS3 and a 360, then I'm sure you can afford 3 dollars a month.
Back on topic though, I'm absolutely getting this game for the 360. Not only for the DLC, but because I'm not giving sony 60 dollars for a rumble controller that should have come with my 600 dollar console anyway, so that I can fully enjoy the game. Games that aren't FPS's or TPS's are fine without rumble, but I absolutely need rumble for mah FPS's and TPS's.
Sony is just mad that they didn't think to secure the rights for exclusive DLC first. natch

Playing on a console that is quiet and wont crap out on me> a console that could red ring at any time that sounds like a lawnmower

So yeah, PS3 version for me because of RROD.
Your comment was bad enough the first time you posted it.
Trust me, yes, your PS3 is FAR less likely to crap out on you than your 360. Have you been asleep? You think MS wrote down $1B for repairs just for giggles?
I'll be buying GTA IV on PS3 (even though I also own a 360). But I expect most of my friends will buy it for 360 instead.
Quit being an ass and spreading your paranoia, we get it you like the PS3 and all you have as ammunition is the RROD.
Send it in for a repair. Or sell it and let some other bastard send it in for a repair.
Pray tell what else do you need when you have a nuke?
As far as Sony's comments are concerned?
Metal Gear Solid 4: Splinter Cell always had better gameplay (but not true for cinematics and story), and Splinter Cell Conviction is available for the 360 exclusively
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue: Sorry, i'm not paying 40$ for a demo.

From point of view marketing this is sure shot: any consumer would choose something what can be extended in future - over something rigid. Especially for parents buying games for their kids this is a god send: they can buy one game as if they bought two.
Most people here would be my witnesses: we all stick to particular genres and good games in the genres get updated relatively rarely (at least it always feels that way). All we need is something new introduced into the same game to make the 100th replay more enjoyable.
I'll take my chances with red rings and have a sh!t load of fun games to play rather than sit on my @ss and watch blu ray movies.
I may buy a ps3 in the future but they will need more games that I want to own before that happens. There is only one exclusive game that I want on ps3, and blu ray don't do it for me.

Well I suppose it's all relative to the end user. I own both consoles and I will probably purchase it for the PS3 so I can install segments of the game to my HDD and avoid loading times and improve draw distance.
As far as games go well most games are available for both platforms. The only games you can't get on the PS3 are the 360 exclusives like Frontlines, Gears,Lost Odyssey, blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, Forza, PGR, Halo, Crackdown and of course many others. However, all multiplatform titles like Assassins Creed, Call Of Duty 4, SKATE,Rainbow 6 vegas 2, Burnout Paradise, Orange Box and whatever else you like thats multiplatform. Sony also has some great exclusives like Hot Shots golf Out Of Bounds, MLB 08 the Show, Resistance, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Time Crisis, Lair, Motorstorm, Sigma, Unreal Tournament 3 and Gran turismo Prologue. I happen to like Lair and Time Crisis but I will admit they are not great games like the others.
I am not going to argue taste or who likes what but there are certainly plenty of games on both consoles (exclusives and multiplatform) for anyone to enjoy. I think the lack of games argument really applies more to the Wii because the majority of multiplatform games are not released on the console et all.
Both the 360 and PS3 have great exclusives slated for an 2008 release. I think the PS3 has better exclusives but again thats a preference thing and opinion based so there is no need for a list war containing the usual suspects.
Like many other people I have had bad luck with my 360 console and since launch have had a total of 6 RRODs (2 forced w/towel due to disc read errors and 4 natural RRODs). I know I have just had bad luck but I can honestly say it effects my buying decesion with multiplatform games. However, in most cases I will buy my sports games on the 360 because of Live and they tend to be better due to the 360 being the lead platform. I actually own more PS3 games than I do 360 games because of this problem. If my console had not been fixed for free each time I would have paid to have it fixed or purchased another one. In fact, I recently got my console back from repair and it would not play DVDs due to a regional issue!!??!?! Like it had a Japanese region code instead of an American. They wanted to charge me $100.00 to fix it until I asked to speak to the manager and explained the situation.
Rockstar has said that there will be no loading times on either system, and there's no reason to think that the draw distance will be any different on either system. You will have to install it on the PS3 just to not have load times, where as with the 360 version you can just pop in the disc and you're good to go.
I hear you man, it is all about the end user. I have been lucky and gotten no red rings with my 360's (upgraded from premium to Elite for the black and 120gb hd).
You mentioned Heavenly Sword and that is the only game id like to play in their line up. and from what I know its not a very long game.
I don't mind the load times on 360, lot s of people are just too impatient. As long as theres so slowing down or lagging while the game play is going on, its all good.
yeah in some cases you are correct. Madden was much better on the 360 as opposed to the 360. I think most of these issues are software based and not hardware issues. I have played Call Of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise and Assassins Creed on both platforms and the differences are really non existant to the naked eye. Maybe if you get super close to a rock there is a slight difference in texture but in general nothing that takes away from the experience.
@broken Monkey
If that's the case then the 360 certainly has an advantage because of the bonus content. However, I remember reading that due to the PS3's ability to install to the HDD it will improve loading and draw distance. I could be wrong and mis rembering. Its also important to remember the PS3 can also have DLC but it will not be the specific content that Microsoft has paid for. Honestly, unless the bonus content is extra cities in the game I would not buy extra missions anyway. I do not think it has been clear what the extra content actually is so far.
@negativezero
Yeah Heavenly Sword is an awesome game albeit a little short. Its about as long as say Bioshock and some other recent releases. The graphics are amazing but the best thing about the game is the voice acting, animations and story. I can't believe the game did not sell better than it did because it is truly an awesome title. Its basicly God Of War with a more personal story and more likable characters.
Its all about personal taste and I like games from all 3 platforms. As i said IMO the Wii is the only console that lacks games because most multiplatform games will not run on the hardware. My Wii only plays Nintendo first party titles and Capcom ports/games.
I would seriously reccomend Uncharted though as that game is some of the most fun I have had playing a game in a long time. The story plays out like an Indiana Jones flick and the graphics are out of this world.
Its all about taste in the end but in my mind the PS3 and 360 both have there fair share of games exclusives and multiplatform alike. ANother game I forgot to mention that is just super fun and intresting is Folklore. Not to mention all of the DLC it has had. Thats one thing I can say about Sony first party titles is they have had a lot of support int he DLC arena. And oh yeah if you like platformers Ratchet And Clank Future is as good as it gets!

Now if the PS3 would only drop in price.....
You got me!
I meant to say Madden is obviously better on the 360 than it is on the PS3...
You can't just say a blu-ray drive is slow because its read mechanism is '2x', since you're probably thinking 2x means the same thing for DVDs and BDs.
2x DVD: 2.7MB/s
2x BD: 9MB/s

But $50 mln is enough to develop a decent game, so I see where he was going with his empirialist statement.
No pasaran!
Well, people that purchase a console like 360 are people that adopt early. Everyone that wants one has one. Their marketshare has primed. Playstation and Nintendo have both shown that they have longer legs (typically Playstation hardware and Nintendo software, although the Wii is setting precedents right now).
So anyone still sitting on the fence about a console is going to be tossing up a PS3 or Wii right now.

you see, some expensive consoles have their sales pick up when they enter a lower price bracket, or in this case, found one on e-bay that fit in his budget.
360 will begin selling well again when the price drops.
Your silly, so then that explains why PS2 is STILL selling right? WRONG! 360 isnt even close to hitting its stride here in the good ole US of A. Same goes for teh Wii.
When 360 hits that sweet spot in price, which will happen b4 PS3 does...sales will be a plenty.
Sony and Nintendo have what Microsoft doesn't: Market share in both the core audience (very small) and the mainstream/casual audience (very large). The "Playstation" brand and (thanks to Wii and DS) "Nintendo" brand ring much farther and wider than Microsoft's.
PS3 comparisons: After 71 weeks, PS3 is where PS2 was at 16.6 weeks (June 22, 2000), where PSP was at 47.2 weeks (October 31, 2005), where GCN was at 68.2 weeks (December 30, 2002), and where Wii was at 17.7 weeks (March 29, 2007).
The PS3 is selling more in line with the gamecube than the PS2.
Yeah yeah, off topic, I know. But I just wanted to share that before I forgot about it.
