IGN has a little fun this April Fools' Day with its exclusive Legend of Zelda movie trailer. The preview plays out like one giant cliché with fan service and a distinctive Uwe quality to it. We'd love to embed the preview and show you, but the code is broken and all we seem to get is some PSP-licker (and game butt-rubber) hosting a show.
Last year we had another impressive Zelda-inspired April Fools' joke with a preview for a Legend of Zelda game set in a future/Star Wars version of Hyrule. We can't help but think IGN's trailer would have been better (and more over the top) had Link been walking down the street of some poor provincial town and people started bursting out singing like the opening of La Belle et la Bête Beauty and the Beast.

It looks so badly made. Ganon shouldn't be an actual actor, Link looks link a punk, Zelda looks weird. Its all retarded.
Glad it's fake.

Though some are talking about this trailer looking bad - I think that it looks pretty damn good for a april fools joke. Its fairly professional looking, though it may not be ideal to us.

I would kill for a Zelda movie.
...assuming, of course, that it's more Lord of the Rings and less...well...ANY video game movie.

You know, cheesy as it was, I think a lot of the ideas have promise, if done better, such as Link staring out over a desert covered with those monsters. I also think the overall plot - heading back in time to save a kingdom destroyed now - is pretty neat, though I'd make it more of an accidental thing, like Link stumbles into the temple as the kingdom is getting attacked, not being led by Zelda.

I knew it was fake but it was so sweet.

IGN did NOT hire the people to make this trailer. It's been around for years. It was simply a fan project.

I'd kill for a Zelda movie also, but for an epic one, not one which would look like that Super Mario Brothers movie.

This trailer makes me really want an actual Zelda Movie (not these guys), just hearing that music in a theater would give you chills.

It seemed like a good enough movie. low budget, yes, and it would probably suck if it was made because all movie games do but dammit, i would watch the movie. (ganon looks like a mix between a lion and a homeless guy.)

When I first saw the picture for trailer on IGN I kept saying "no no no no..."
It actually wasn't all that bad. I liked how Zelda looked...
The only thing I liked about Link in there was the fact he didn't talk...but he just looked too manly to be Link.
If they do ever make a movie, I hope they use a girl. Like PikminLink! ^_^

This isn't the fan project from a while ago, that's here: http://www.legendofzeldaseries.com/main.php?page=fanmovietrailer.html
If this new one is a joke, which I suppose all evidence points to, it's an insane letdown. Would be ridiculously awesome if it were real.

It's a good thing this is a spoof. Just the mention of Uwe Boll and Zelda in the same sentence makes me cringe.

I feel really bad for people that thought there really was a Zelda movie. To tell you the truth, I was hoping it really would till I read a thing about it that told me it was just a prank.

OK, there is a point where a prank goes too far, and this totally crosses the line. Being a hardcore Zelda fan, I was against the idea of a Zelda movie, until I saw this trailer. I was psyched! I know, people were complaining that it wasn't exactly like the games, but I didn't care. We want some original ideas, not just a reiteration of one of the games. They made the TV show work, so I was sure they could pull off a great movie.
Shortly after, I found out that it was a cruel April Fool's joke. I had never been more mad in my life. I almost knew it was too good to be true. But all I can think now is one thing: WE DESERVE A QUALITY ZELDA MOVIE!
Now, I am also aware of the countless rumors that the trailer is, in fact, real. Honestly, I think that this is going to become the next Tourette's Guy controversy, as far as the claims that he isn't really dead (yes, he is.). Arguments like, "They wouldn't go through all that CGI and planning for just a little joke," really irritates me. I'm looking at you, Jeff. Obviously, you have no idea how sick and deranged our society is. Just look at how big of a screw-up Meet The Spartans was. Right now, our society is as unpredictable as it has ever been. If that disaster-of-a-movie Meet The Spartans could pass with 20th Century Fox, I don't see how some cruel, heartless imbeciles aren't capable of creating a trailer based off a beloved game as a devastating joke.
