Valve announced today that Ubisoft will be using the company's Steam digital distribution service and plans to add over 40 other titles from its repertoire soon. Games currently available are jungle shooter Far Cry ($9) and sneaky-sneak stealth game Splinter Cell ($18); meanwhile, Assassin's Creed can be pre-purchased for $50 before its April 9 launch, which will include four bonus missions unique to the PC release.
In the coming weeks Ubisoft will add many more games from the Tom Clancy and Heroes of Might & Magic series. Valve says that the Ubisoft line-up on Steam will be the largest of any publisher using the service.

Awesome, its too bad that Microsoft can't so something similar with Games For Windows Live, let alone have the client running without a game being played.

Assassin's Creed isn't the greatest game out there, but it's still pretty fun. I'll probably invest in the PC version when the price goes down (I had the 360 version for about a week until I gave it to a friend. Hey, I owed the guy for giving me his copy of Twilight Princess).

If it can cause Games For Windows to fade out, then great!

You forgot to note that this is only for North American and Canadian citizens only. For a French company you would think they would have a wider scope.
They are going to lose out on a lot of revenue because of this. I hope this doesn't become a trend for companies on steam.

If you're incapable of a worldwide release your best bet for a financially benefiting release would be in America.

With North America you mean México,U.S and Canada or just the U.S because last time I checked North America was formed by México,U.S and Canada.

So a huge company like Ubisoft can't handle a world wide release on an online distribution service? Which, I must note, has had no previous problems making games available to every registered steam user.
Valve have the servers to handle the downloads no doubt about it. Only Atari have done something like this in the past on steam.

AC was fun but disappointing in many ways.It would've been better without the forced cliffhanger ending.
It sucks that the Pc version gets more stuff than the console versions.

At least now when you do reach the ending you won't be as disappointed as others. (I wouldn't know, I didn't beat it)

If you were interested in Ac and you didn't knew about the crappy ending by now someone in the internet didn't did his or her job.

Once EA (for Maxis and Westwood) and Blizzard are on Steam, I may never visit a game store again.
Except for Wii and DS stuff...
