Infinity Ward reassures Call of Duty 4 map pack coming this week

So it turns out the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack is coming out this week, after all. Despite the official COD4 Game of the Year website decreeing an April 10 release date for the downloadable content, Infinity Ward's blogger extraordinaire fourzerotwo posted reassurances today that the map pack is "NOT delayed" (his emphasis) and that there's a good chance the maps will be available tomorrow night or early Friday.

"For those of you asking when you should take off work, I'd take off Friday," he said. It's a good thing we at Joystiq can work and play Call of Duty 4 (we're spoiled like that ... and ambidextrous). For those with the Game of the Year Edition, the provided tokens will work as soon as the maps become available.

I read fourtwozero's posting earlier.
What I don't get is, it's not even certified yet, and should be certified Thursday Night, or Friday morning. So they don't even know??? So if there was an unknown bug that they didn't know, it might show up and worse case scenario, it will really be delayed.

How will this effect searching for games? If I am in a party with others who do not have the maps then what will happen?

I'm curious to know this as well. Has IW made any mention about whether or not the maps will be required for certain online modes? I'm buying them regardless, but I don't want it to be a repeat of Halo's DLC, where I don't see any of the maps I payed for until 4 months later...

I don't know where I read it, but IW stated there will be new playlists added that feature the new maps.

kinda, i got my replacement xbox today and i couldn't log onto xbl for a while. when i did a connection test i passed but when i tried again and declined the connection test my dashboard bar just sat there blank for about...5 minutes until it cleared off, then i eventually got back on
methinks the update yesterday may have some problems

I already own this game on PS3, but I might buy the GOTY Edition on 360 for these maps and to play with my friends that have 360s. It really does justify buying it twice...well to me.

Fourzerotwo has fed me some bullshit before. When I asked about the 360 patch and he said it was at Microsoft for certification and they were waiting on them. Then a month later he has a post saying they just sent it to Microsoft for certification. Didn't matter anyways since the patch didn't fix ANY of my issues. But I certainly wouldn't take a day off work based on what he says.

To all you people that think the world runs on love and air wake up. For you to be able to play games it costs MONEY!!!! To get map updates it costs MONEY!!! for Xbox live to work it costs MONEY!! Stop waisting megabits of space on the internet complaining about how much money you have to spend.
