Monster Hunter expansion ships 1M in Japan

No doubt still harboring a grudge about that time Godzilla remorselessly flattened the beautiful city of Tokyo, the people of Japan have made it abundantly clear that they rather enjoy hunting monsters. Capcom has announced that the PSP's Monster Hunter Freedom 2 G -- the G highlighting the fact that it's an expansion to the pictured, G-less mega hit -- has shipped one million copies in the land of the rising hunt. It has managed to do so in just six days, further enforcing the publisher's belief that "epic battles with giant monsters" can sustain a franchise that has now shifted over 6.3 million copies. The news certainly bodes well for the upcoming Wii iteration.

The franchise started on Playstation and has been very successful there, real blow to us (whiny, bitchy, annoying) PS3 owners that the next game goes to Wii, we don't even get it at all.
Capcom just hates the PS3, from moving Lost Planet to making mandatory installs for Lost Planet and DMC4, having a poor port of Lost Planet, just officially have a press release that says you hate the PS3 Capcom.

I think it has more to do with cost of asset creation than anything. Think of it, how much gets carried over between MH games? Now look at the Wii in power compared to PS2 and PSP versus PS3? MH3 is a much cheaper date just because of how much they can reuse. Or do you think Persona 4 is PS2 because of it's fanbase?

If development cost was the main factor, why not just keep the series on the PS2 or the PSP? They wouldn't even have to port the engine!
Let's face it, the Wii is pulling huge numbers. Ease of development is just a nice added bonus.

eh i give that credit to final fantasy. and capcom does hate sony they talk about multiplatform yet almost all systems have a capcom exclusive game except the ps3.

Well... I'm actually glad that Monster Hunter sell this much on PSP.
This is not even the next Monster Hunter chapter, it's just an enhanced version.
Monster Hunter 3 was a big lost for Sony. At least I'm sure that the game will sell a lot on Nintendo's little white console.

Hey Fernando, I keep asking you and you never answer. You owned a PS1 and PS2 and really enjoyed them right? Your acting like you've hated Sony your entire life.
I'd understand if they make MH3 a non-exclusive for the PS3 but to completely rip it out and transplant it on the Wii.
But of course, its win-win for Capcom, much easier to develop on the Wii, much less expectations and will generate many more sales as well, thats the Wii for you. Why develop for PS3 and 360 when you can make games needing less input (resources, development time) and giving much more output (cash) ?

There are legitimate times to bash the PS3 and Sony for they have done and stated many stupid, senseless things.
Yes, they have been quite arrogant with the PS3 but what do you expect with the incredible success of the PS1 and PS2? Their streak couldn't have gone on forever I guess, same happened to Nintendo after the NES and SNES, they still stuck to cartridges with the N64 and it really hurt them.
Anyhoo, there's times when Sony is bashed too much though, the line is crossed, we get it, there's no need to mercilessly bash Sony and the PS3 into the ground, but its always nice to have something everyone can join making fun of right? (eg. N-Gage)
But Capcom really does hate the PS3 and they should just officially state it.

by the way, I am totally with you on the ps3/psp. I think they are brilliant machines and I never liked ps/ps2. I have all 5 gaming machines and clearly prefer psp/ps3.
I was a Nintendo fan until this generation.

I was a big fan of the PS1. Sweets to Jesus it was my fave console of that time. PS2 I didn't care about, got bored of the controller so you can imagine my attitude toward the PS3. It's also good just dessert for the Sony people who used to ramble on about how the PS3 will crush everything since it's so powerful.
And yes Sony has done a lot of shitty poo funk of late. And I will hold it against them. Only fair since Apple, Nintendo and other good guys get it. It's all about harmony and balance. If I sing an F# you had better not be singing an F.

I've recently discovered the joy of Monster Hunter. Great little game it is, can't wait to get my clean fingers all over G2 and the upcoming Wii Version (is gonna work great with the Wii controller).

Capcom really doens't hate sony's PS3 they just like high profit. This is no different than what happened to Game Cube and Nintendo 64 some years ago. I think a lot of gamers forget that there is no real loyalty in business, they don't support a system because they like or hate somebody, they support it cause it is profitable.
