Finally, the game that created such a kerfuffle on the Joystiq Podcast (and a couple of great Photoshops on our Facebook group) is now available for you to try for free with the Army of Two demo on Xbox Live. Are your knuckles lubed and ready for pounding? Let's hope so.
But be aware, as we learned from our listeners, if you play the demo, which includes training and the first level, you will not know if you like it. Even if you go on to play the next few levels after that, trust us, you won't know if it's good or not. You had better just take their word for it.

I downloaded it last night. Going to try it out as soon as I get home from work.
This demo could be a deciding point for me on whether to buy this game or not.
Hope is good.

I'm on my second play of the single player game and I have to say I continue to enjoy it. It's a 7/10. If the cover system didn't suck I would just about say it's an 8.

Yea I see youve been playing it quite a bit lately on LIVE. I would say the game grows on you after a while right? The first day I bought it I wasnt feeling it too much but it grew on me and I ended up enjoying it. It would get an 8.0 from me. Theres alot of good things Ao2 does but somethings get in the way of it being a great AAA game.
I beat that game 3 times. Once on normal as I do with all my games first, then on Proffesional, and the last one on casual to finish up any achievements I was missing. Its funny how you can run over everyone once youve beateb it on Proffesional. Its a solid game, but not a must buy IMO.

Yeah cover system of ducking and ninja slide behind a wall but can't blind fire for crap. Not that blind fire matters since the AI can tag your hand with no problem.

As much as I've enjoyed it, I would suggest renting it if at all possible. The game is just too short to say it's worth owning.

Why are you reminding us of this?
I don't think this thread is going to persuade anyone of anything. It doesn't even make logical sense. Essentially you said, "REMINDER: Game demo out and it won't sell you on this game! But buy it anyway cause you don't know if you'll like it after you play the demo."

From my limited experience with the demo, I would have to say I would like to play the game all the way through with a friend. I'll probably wait until I can get it for cheap off of eBay or somewhere - I could see the replay value lacking horribly.

You guys are missing the key point. You get to shoot people with a solid gold minigun. How is that not worth 60 dollars?

Plated? Damn, well that ruins it. Nevermind, in that case this is just a mediocre game. Definitely worth a rent though, there is some fun to be had.
Does anyone else think this game could have been better with a first person perspective? I didn't like that you could sharpshoot people while shooting blindly.

For me the demo alternated between vaguely frustrating and vaguely boring. It was never bad enough to make me quit, but it wasn't good enough to make me want to buy it or even play the demo again.
I much prefer real cover systems like Gears or Rainbow Six to ducking and hoping it works. The controls seemed sluggish, and I ran out of ammo too fast trying to get all the attention.

I need some DLC... this game was way to short and I can't believe how crappy the multiplayer was. I had so much high hopes for this game.

I downloaded the demo and it appears to be multiplayer only. I only get the options Split-screen, Public Co-Op game, Private Co-Op game...
Is that right?

I have never played a game and wished for computer AI except while playing through the co-op demo on live.

Should I be pissed I didn't get a brush with fame after bitching and moaning after the podcast? :)
If you're looking for a compelling story and the second coming of Gears, don't bother with AoT.
If you like gunplay, have a buddy to play with (in the same geographical region, heh) and just want to kill stuff and have fun, pick it up.
The single player isn't all that bad but you NEED to micromanage your AI partner. Using the voice commands makes this a lot easier and I think its a good implementation of that gimmick.
I also think its funny how people think the cover system is broken because it doesn't have some idiot proof button press like Gears. People also moaned about Kane & Lynch's cover system and I never had issues with either.
I still think this game is a solid 7.0-7.5 I just hate that EA is being lame about DLC and hope the 2 "new" campaign missions are actually new and not just unlocked like those pricks at Sega.

my only compliant for this game is when I point the cross hair at someone that means I want my guy to shoot him whether he is facing that direction or not.

If you want to play army of two without the suckage, just play rainbow 6 on terrorist hunt with your best friend.

Yeah, and have terrorists appear out of thin air or score one hit kills when they hit you in the foot with a SPAS12 from across the map.
