A lot of uniformed people... it's frustating, right? They only added rumble to the sixaxis.

That's how I felt in the Mario Kart Wii thread earlier...

It still says Sixaxis on the DS3 too.
They just moved it down a little.

Hopefully Target will put the Sixaxis on clearance and I can pick up another one cheap. I don't really want to spend $50 on another controller. I picked up 2 PSP fat batteries for $5 each at Target, that was a steal.

I really hope the DS3 is heavier than the 6axis, When I first picked up the 6axis, It doesnt even feel heavy enough for the outside plastic. ITs like the PSP Slim. How the crap do they make these things weigthless?

Waaaiiiiiitttt a second. I thought nobody cared about rumble, right?

So if they tell us we don't care about something, and they really believe it, then why would they force something we don't care about upon us rather than they leave us the option to buy the cheaper version of something without the feature we were told we do not care about?

Unless of course, that was all BS from the get-go. Yes, that makes more sense.

Maybe I can find some six-axis's cheap later on to use bluetooth connection to my computer instead like I'm doing with wiimotes. Classic controller isn't that good with analog-controlled games.

Dude, there's a huge surplus of Dualshock 2's out there you can get for dirt cheap. With a $5 adapter they can be converted to USB and used on your computer (or PS3). Just the other day I was in GameCrazy and some guy was trying to trade in a couple of Dualshocks, which the store refused. I was tempted to give him a buck each or something so I can have some wallet-friendly 7 player action on the PS3.

I wonder if we can give Hyams RSI by claiming the Dual Shock 3 is lacking accelerometers.

I'm spending all day tap-tap-tapping away at my keyboard anyways. I've got essays to get done, and only tonight and tomorrow to do them in. I'm gonna get RPS anyways. :(

In some ways, I feel sad for the little Sixaxis. It gets too much stick for what it is. As an icon, the Sixaxis is a tremendous two-fingers up at Immersion, who Sony refused to bend over and licence the patent they had on Rumble in controllers as Microsoft and Nintendo had paid up for after their lawsuits. So in effect, the Sixaxis is Sony's moral high ground, while everyone else was feeding the patent troll, Sony was trying to side-step the bastards.

However, the poor dear was blighted by terrible, tacked-on control schemes and Sony PR was at it's worst when the thing needed all the support it could get.
So, goodbye Sixaxis. You will be missed by me, if by no one else.

Sony keeps taking off features on the PS3, you guy's are really fanboy's not to see that. One day you say we have sixaxis and you don't and they other day you say I don't care when Sony take it off. Pathetic

OH NO!! How am I going to play HVBowling?!
(I kid - I kid, I KNOW just messing with those who have had to explain it over and over)

Can't say I am suprised Sony would do something like this. I mean they had the 20 and 60 gigs, the replaced them with the 40 and 80 gig and I believe all thats going to be produced are the 80's now right?

this makes me mad. they have had over a year to release the ds3 but they wait and force people to waste 50 bucks on a controller with no rumble. even tho i dont notice the rumble being gone, its still nice to have in shooting and sport games. is there anyway to get rumble in the SIXAXIS

So I know we discussed the plural a little bit, and this is going to be much geekery - but there's a payoff at the end.

Yes 'axes' is the plural of 'axis' but the term SIXAXIS is copyrighted (because it's a palindrome) and is thus a proper noun, so the plural is SIXAXISes.

But, think of how awesome it would be if the plural was 'sixaxes' and then apply the palindrome rules to 'sixaxes' ... you get Sex Axis - which would go great for inadvertent sexual references this generation (ie. U R MR GAY)

So the proper scientific term would be the "Sixaxi Discontinuous"?

"With a $5 adapter they can be converted to USB and used on your computer (or PS3)."

That's what I have. I use it for different emulators and it's awsome!

Now as a future PS3 owner, I'd expect the DS3 to be packaged with the system (well..the PS3 with full BC).

So now the hardcore Sony fans can stop bragging about how xbox supporters have to pay $50 a year for online service. "Microsoft is making you pay for something that I get for free."

Well, there you go.... Last time I checked I didn't have to pay an extra fee for my 360 controller. It did rumble properly right out of the box. Sony should have done this from the beginning as well instead of forcing all the prior adopters of ps3s to shell out more money for the rumble controller. And remember, when you don't pay for something (like Sony's online service) you can't really complain that much when it doesn't work like it should. (like R6V part 2 online)

For the most part the 360 is just a white wireless version of the original XBOX out of the box - then you went out and bought the good stuff. Wireless network, the live service, the microsoft point cards, HDMI - (oh sorry early adopters), HD-DVDead add-on...

Congrats on making the cheaper choice.

If the sixaxis was a "cheap piece of plastic crap", does that mean the DS3 will be made of titanium, gold-plated and hand-crafted by Swiss master clockmakers? :s

As a new PS3 owner I'm happy enough with the sixaxis, I can live without rumble for now. Even so, if the DS3 is going to be the same price as the sixaxis sells for now then I'll be kicking myself for failing at research and buying my PS3 with 2 controllers just weeks before they're made obsolete :|
