See a new trailer for Halo 3's Legendary map pack
Back then it was just "OMG, this is new media for Halo 3! Consume!" You didn't have to worry about what you wrote because you knew no one was reading it. Check some of those old jams out, we bet half of them are just "All work and no play makes Joystiq a dull boy" over and over again. In fact, we're feeling so nostalgic for those halcyon days that we're about to go old school and leave this post with a completely underwhelming ending.

Don't worry, I'll consume any GTA4 info no matter how worthless it is. I'm obsessed!
Mr.ESC @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:02PM
Well I don't have lag anymore so I can PWN again but I already bought the Heroic map so I guess I'll wait until this one is released for free.
Is just me of Halo 3 is starting to look I don't kind of dated.
Mr.ESC @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:02PM
I meant "I don't know"
Hopefully in b4 grammar Nazis.
Martez @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:12PM
It's been dated since Halo 1.
Oh, were you talking about the graphics?
Mr.ESC @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:15PM
Zing.
theturtle363 @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:02PM
I'm pretty sure that guy was the voice of some Warcraft 3 characters.
Vegnagun bwf @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:03PM
Lok' Tar!
Mr.ESC @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:03PM
Too bad RvsB didn't did the promo.
The Heroic map ad was pretty funny.
Vegnagun bwf @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:05PM
Mr.Esc, the grammar nazis are coming to stormtroop' this topic, buddy. Two mistakes in one thread is a primary target.
Vegnagun bwf @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:02PM
I love sidewinder, but gussying up an old map and selling it for 10$ alongside of two other maps is disappointing. Should be called Legendary Cop-out imo.
theturtle363 @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:05PM
i heard that the new sidewinder is really more in the same vein as how Guardian was lockout. It's about the same, but not really
Mike @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:07PM
Agreed. Two remakes and one new map doesn't = $10.
Let me be clear - I'm a big fan of Halo 3. I'm a big fan of Bungie. I HIGHLY suspect the pricing of their map packs had absolutely nothing to do with Bungie. I'm quite certain it's all Microsoft. I'm certain MS is trying to squeeze every penny it can out of Halo 3, and frankly, I'm a little bothered by it. If these maps go free, I'll get them then, and then buy the next map pack. I'm not against paying for new maps - I'm against overpaying for new maps.
Knight Marquise @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:11PM
As with anything Halo, it's a day 1 purchase x 4 for me. My entire family plays and enjoys the game.
343 Guilty Fart @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:15PM
From the March 18th Bungie weekly update:
"remember, we just make the maps, we don't get to price them"
Blame teh 'soft
rTwelve @ Apr 3rd 2008 6:46PM
I'm getting really sick of this remake BS. It's still a DLC map. What, is the alternative to magically transfer the Lockout data from H2 into your Halo 3 game? Is that what makes it a ripoff? No that's not possible so stop complaining about. They're both new maps you can play in Halo 3, they WERE built from scratch for this game, they DO incorporate new elements (improved physics and gameplay, or the map changes from Sidewinder), and Bungie DOES need to be compensated for their efforts.
If you want to play them for free you can shut up and wait a few months or you can go back to Halo 1 or 2. I don't need you in my matchmaking anyway.

"I HIGHLY suspect the pricing of their map packs had absolutely nothing to do with Bungie. I'm quite certain it's all Microsoft. I'm certain MS is trying to squeeze every penny it can out of Halo 3.."
Yeah, Bungie says so themselves on their website frequently. So you can't really blame them.
na2ru1 @ Apr 7th 2008 9:17AM
The game itself was the biggest let down since it was incomplete.
3 big team levels from release?(1 of which is a remake)
Dream on 360/MS lovers. Take any BS from them proudly.
Oh you got your heroic pack? Game is just barely complete after 3 years then...
nerrrrrrd @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:04PM
Off Topic: Amazon.com has Burnout Paradise for 360 for $40. Extremely limited time only.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox
Delgado @ Apr 3rd 2008 8:13PM
Wow you weren't exaggerating about the "extremely limited time." As of now, only 46 minutes left haha
Thanks for the tip, I'll take advantage of it.
Kodros @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:13PM
Did they really need a voice over for a map pack trailer?
Mike @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:16PM
Let me answer your question with another question:
Did they really need halo themed mountain dew?
Knight Marquise @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:17PM
Does it really matter if they choose to? It creates atmosphere.
Mike @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:19PM
Knight Marquise,
If by "atmosphere" you mean marketing buzz, then yes, you're absolutely right.
Mike @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:20PM
I will admit, the trailer is pretty damned cool though.
Kodros @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:27PM
Mike - lol, good point.
Knight Marquise - Nope, it doesn't matter if they choose to. I guess it fits in with the rest of their advertising for this game by being overly dramatic.
Lone Starr @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:51PM
Mr. Voice Over sounded like he had a Wurther's lodged in the back of his throat.
aphoushole @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:15PM
I'm mostly concerned about their current naming convention. Assuming that they are using the names of the difficulties from the Halo games; then they will have run out names after Legendary!
They will have to call the next one, the "Easy map pack! This is a crisis!
Mr. Scolex @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:47PM
They are actually going by the ranks on their forums, meaning that the next one will be "Mythic map pack". After that, though, I'm not sure. "Moderator" map pack and "Bungie Employee" map pack don't really have that ring to them, ya know?
Mike @ Apr 3rd 2008 6:13PM
Mr. Scolex,
Perhaps there are lurker and troll map packs in the works?
Snipermike @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:23PM
The narrator should have said
"In a world where Halo has been forgotten and COD4 is the new king come 3 maps you swear you've seen before"
cortinator @ Apr 3rd 2008 6:06PM
Woopdy doo. A 4th installation in a gaming franchise finally did something right.
tommy @ Apr 3rd 2008 6:51PM
Im pretty sure halo is not even close to being forgotten... and remakes of old maps is what the majority of halo players wanted anyway...
also you do realize that as fun as call of duty is online its not anywhere close to being competitive... thats why people will always play halo.
Snipermike @ Apr 3rd 2008 7:09PM
Get the gravity hammers out of your asses and lighten up.Some people like to have fun online and some like to unload a clip into someones shild and then die because you didn't melee first. to each his own
miyagi @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:44PM
Ignoring the negative comments I have to say I'm excited about the map pack. Day 1 purchase for me!
Doug @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:49PM
Halo 3 had a $130 version with a cat-helmet. People bought it.
And a $80 version with some artwork stills or something.
$20 for 6 additional maps, you don't think most people would have bought that if they'd sold it at the beginning?
It's the matchmaking that sucks about DLC. There are only 5,000 players in DLC matchmaking and they're all generals and brigadiers.
J @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:53PM
The guy talking sounds like one of those Monster Truck event promoters....Sunday...Sunday....Sunday!!!!!!!
RobLink (McElroy Defence Force) @ Apr 3rd 2008 6:34PM
Is it just me or were there a couple of moments in there where you saw a Hornet? They're one of the vehicles I've been itching to play in MP. Mind you, I've only picked Halo 3 up once or twice since I played CoD4 MP, so I don't think I'll be picking these up regardless.
rTwelve @ Apr 3rd 2008 6:39PM
It got nerfed, it doesn't shoot missiles in Avalanche. Which makes no sense, since those missles seem somewhat harder to aim than the Banshee's fuel rod, in my opinion.
tommy @ Apr 3rd 2008 6:41PM
Whats Call of Duty?
TrojanGuy @ Apr 3rd 2008 6:37PM
Seems a little overdramatic for a map pack.
rTwelve @ Apr 3rd 2008 6:47PM
The music at the end reminded me of the custom soundtrack feature.
So I'm going to play Halo now with that song. FOR TEH DRAMATICS
Dan CiTi @ Apr 4th 2008 1:31AM
Yet another reason why Halo 3 is the pinnacle of gaming.
Kodros @ Apr 4th 2008 2:19PM
Why, because they selling you two old maps?
