GameStop has revealed that merchandise from only four publishers made up more than half of its 2007 new product sales. GI.biz reports out of the 40 publishers and manufacturers with goods sold at Gamestop, the top new product sale figures came from Nintendo (21%), Sony (17%), Microsoft (16%) and Electronic Arts (11%).
Those statistics are only for new products; GameStop admits that its used market creates "significantly higher" profits for the company. The company generated $7 billion in sales last year and continues to expand at a rapid rate. Remember, every time you buy a used game from GameStop some Mom & Pop shop dies ... Oh, who are we kidding, they're already dead. All hail the GameStop overlords!

I've started to buy from places like ASDA (UK version of Walmart) instead of GAME (UK version of Gamestop) because it is £5 cheaper than GAME and they keep the games in as good a quality if not better than GAME (both gut the games so no difference). GAME has a loyalty card but out of all the money I've spent (Wii, DS, about 8-9 games combined, Gamecube games) I've got back about £5. Thats not much. So if I can get the same experience, if not more, for cheaper in ASDA, then I'll be damned if I'll not take it. All I want is the game anyway. I know what I want enough to form my own opinions and I don't need some kid who is a huge fanboy of PS3 no doubt coming over trying to advise me what Wii or DS game I should get when he hasn't a clue what games actually are good for Wii, and will just go and advise the usual multiplayer party game.

yeah why open up an indie game shop when you can open up a cheap ass tanning salon and meet hot chicks all day?
