Why, thank you, IGN! It seems the first thing Ubisoft is doing with the wholly-purchased Tom Clancy is to put the man inside a high-tech jet and send him into High-Altitude Warfare ... X! Developed by the company's Bucharest studio, Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. places couch pilots in over 50 different planes equipped with an "Enhanced Reality System (ERS)," an optional means of alerting you to incoming missiles, tactical position and the activities of your AI squadron.
If you're wary of having robots for wingmen, you'll be pleased to note the game offers a 4-player co-op campaign and a 16-player Versus mode. Ubisoft hawks its airborne wares on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC this Fall.

I thought the reinvention of Tony Hawks was going to involve replacing the letter "S" with "X".
Because things are always more extreme if there's an X.
I lol'd.

Anyway, game doesn't look half bad, I usually enjoy a nice fighter jet sim type game. The multiplayer usually lends itself to some fun times.

Your answer is in the above screenshot
More like the suits at Ubisoft are a bunch of cheep morons. I know, I have actually met them. -,-;
Or they'd actually like to make some real games every now and then. Not every game can be a cheap shitty cash in.
Really? Really?!? Obviously you have evidence to back this up. I know VGChartz isn't the most accurate but away we go....
RRR2 Wii .97m
RRR Wii 1.3m
RRR 2 DS .17m
RRR 360 .1m
(PS2 excluded... too low to register)
IP Total 2.54m
Assassins Creed PS3 2.42m
Assassins Creed 360 3.6m
Assassins Creed DS .07m
IP Total 6.09m
GRAW 360 2.13m
GRAW PS3 .27m
GRAW 2 360 1.32m

So... since you spouted off without research, this rule applies to you too, Sidepocket. You mentioned ASSassin's Creed, did you not?
6.09m-2.54m=3.55m
Congrats, Sidepocket. You've just added 3,550,000 points to your fucktard score.

I can recall maybe one book (Red storm rising) where aircraft play a significant roll.

1. It's a game based off an anime. Do you REALLY think this is a priority in any way, shape, or form for BandaiNamco? Please, inform me how since most evidence presented by this company in the past point towards "No." I mean, they fucked up a Cowboy Bebop game.... TWICE. And this game? It's a licensed game.
2. Flight controls via tilt has been attempted ad nasuem. Several games on PS3 and Wii have attempted this so far. Of them, only Warhawk has come the closest ad let's face it, it's fun but not as accurate as using analogs. As stated above, Factor 5 was arcade flight sim pedigree as well. Lair became a meme on how bad it was...
2) From what I understand in there videos, they are mainly using the pointer with the Nunchuck for OPTIONAL throttle. I also heard them saying that they may include Classic Controller support for you whiny bitches.
Another thing that I liked with this game is that all the game play they show people them selfs PLAYING the game. Notice when you watch people play Lair and Warhawk that the game does not look good. However in this instance the controls look easy, are very accurate and looks quite fun!
In short, fuck you.
Just because you have bad examples does not mean that the concept is bad or impossible, it means get better designers so you can have good examples!
Duh! Design 101!
i dont know why that almost made me spit up my orange juice...
thank you.
back on topic, H.A.W.X. looks Hawt.

Sort of if you took the old PC MechCommander game and paired it up with the MechWarrior or MechAssault games. One person has a tactical view, while the other teammates are in the Mechs...
I doubt we'll see it anytime soon, but hey, a guy can dream, can't he?
Anyways, I hope HAWX (despite the stupid name), is more flight sim than Ace Combat...
By the way, Sparkstalker, I think Chromehounds is as close as you're going to get on that front. Essentially your job class determines your role in the battle and yes, one of them is a field commander.
It would be interesting, your ideas of a joint game. Battlefield 2 is the closest game I can think of but it's all just a mad dash for the Planes or tanks.
If this comes out and is successful I can see a tank SIM/Arcade + A Helicopter version as well. After that and a new GRAW game then maybe will have a huge joint task game called End War 2 but it wont be a strategy's game anymore.
Air Strikes in battle often support ground troops and ground ops often set up air strikes, especially by taking out air artillery above.
It would actually be easy to make the two parallel in fights if you actually had a couple of brain cells, something you and Ubisoft lacks.
Oooo, clever. "Der, he's got Itagaki icon..." Actually, if my picture updates would take, my icon I keep trying to upload is a Rick-Dom in a mario hat. But that's neither here nor there. What is here hoever, is where you read that planes actually ENTER the building I mentioned? Wow, bravo retard. Clap hands.
I said people enter buildings as planes fly BY. By =/= In. By difference there, champ. Also, your examples remain invalid and stupid. Why?
Calling in an air strike is significantly different from and air battle. They take off, deliver payload, and leave. On occassion, it's birds already up in the air, but that's the special case. Likewise, as ground support, your job is simply to clear AA before they pass over. Now, imagine your scenario for a minute.
You're part of a team trying to secure a town and you have birds coming in ETA 5:00s. Storywise this works, puts pressure on the player to clear a couple nests in a short amount of time. Now imagine if there was series overlap... you'd constantly be racing from AA nest to AA nest to offer support for your birds. Now, if we're talking Unreal Tournament, Warhawk, or Battlefield, this arcady style works and it's a chaos bringer to the gameplay. Meanwhile, the Tom Clancy game series is not based on chaos... it's based on tactical gameplay which, frankly, doesn't mesh with what you're speaking about.
Now, imagine HAWX, you're in the middle of a firefight, dodging missiles and oh look, players have called in an air strike. Get that done. head back to your own mission, air strikes get called in again, and again, and again, etc. How annoying could this be? Well, it's players calling in a very powerful attack. By comparison on how needy players are, give Medic a shot on TF2. Count how many times you're called in the average game.
Now, if you're talking cross game acknowledgement of each other, I beg why do we need it considering it already exists in the case of scripted events.
Two Mr. War expert, I guess you missed all those times in the past were dogfights would happen over battlegrounds. Tanks VS Tanks, Men VS Men, Plane VS Plane and each other all in the same field.
The reason why you never see this now a days is because our threat do not use planes, they instead strap them selfs with explosives and make Kamikaze runs.
However, in a FICTIONAL war with enemies seemingly advanced enough to use rival fighter planes, having air raids going on with ground battle would be a more common sight.
Insert "BIG FUCKING DUH" here.
Plus, have you even SEEN a plane that has been designed in the past 25 fucking years? Did you SEE war footage from Iraq? Where in the holy hell are your concepts for modern air combat coming from? Oh, wait... anime... explains a lot. Here's a clue, Last Exile vehicles won't fly in real life. Model all future rebuttals around that fact.

Apparently this is developed by the Blazing Angels guys, they're some Ubisoft studio in eastern europe.
Seriously we are not in the 90's.

1. Developer footage of Lair looked good too.
2. Then how is roll handled? Obviously they won't use the foot pedals real planes have to handle the rudder. A single stick and a pointer.... hmmm. Sounds risky. If they pull it off, bravo. But considering they have a June deadline on it... even more against the project.
But the blatant "fuck you" bomb? Internet = serious business.
