There's something peculiar about the ability to drive 120 mph into a wall and not see a single scratch on your car. The Gran Turismo series has always been fond of that physics anomaly. Speaking to VideoGamer, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi said damage modeling is coming to GT5: Prologue. "We're not really planning for a trial or test version," he said, "we're going at it full speed. We'll see what happens." In a separate interview with IGN, Yamauchi expressed hope for a Fall release of the update.
Yamauchi also hinted that weather effects would be in the final, non-Prologue Gran Turismo 5, due out about a year from now. We're not expecting Burnout-esque pile ups, but a fender bender in the rain would be nice.

Thats what Fernando is here for :) But hes off today, hmm :)
He would normally be in here betting that GT5P won't sell more the Luigi Kart Racers, Pokemon Orange or Super Smash Sisters

Damage (visually or physically) is second on my list to realistic hits/bumps...
GT can call itself a simulator, but when you can bumper-car your way through corners and not loose control then you have a problem...
(And this is coming from a long-time GT fan)

Okay people, when they say they are adding damage, does that mean we will actually get charged GT Credits to repair them, cos as it stands in current GT games, doenst matter how much your car parts seem to wear off, it does little or nothing to effect your wallet or driving experience.

Crap!
This means as hard as we all try to keep our cars nice and still win races by using racing lines and - (gasp) brakes, we will still be all jacked up because of the slopes who gun it and use the GT sling techinque.
Thats if thier car makes it through turn 1 HAHAHAHA!

Can't believe the idiots on this site, polyphony lazy ??? were you born dumb or did you work at it?
The GT series has re-defined the racing sim with every release, polyphony are the only company i've ever seen that always manage to go beyond expectations, as for comparing GT to Forza, lets just put that one to bed,
Forza is a very good game, the car painting is a great touch, the damage model however is a very limited one and the cars in Forza 2 are using less polygons than the cars in GT4, thats how far ahead of the competition polyphony are. Damage takes up alot of extra processing power, i think the main reason that the previous GT's did not have damage was due to the limits of the platform...what would you rather have substandard graphics and damage or the most realistic driving sim ever made..that was GT4 , it looks like they have cracked it with GT5, i can't wait for the full game,
polyphony are the gods of racing sims.
