Rockstar acquires Mad Doc Software, forms Rockstar New England
There's a brand new face for us to lovingly stick into our Take-Two Family Album -- Rockstar New England. Take-Two's Rockstar Games has announced the formation of the studio following the acquisition of Andover, MA-based Mad Doc Software, "one of the premier independent development studios in North America." The praise release continues with Rockstar founder, Sam Houser, weighing in on the purchase.
"The team at Mad Doc Software is extremely talented," he said. "Bringing them within the Rockstar Games family will enhance our core technology and further support our commitment to creating progressive and innovative gaming experiences."
C'mon everybody, let's join in singing the praises of the studio that most recently worked on the Xbox 360 version of Bully: Scholarship Edition!
What's that? We can't hear you! We seem to be experiencing audio difficulties! Hello?!

Oh c'mon rockstar, this wood bridge I got for sale is pretty nice. Its been going through this swamp for 212 years and works great for a high toll shipping route.
I tell you what, I will just wait for your call.

One of the developers with the worst track records ever. I have yet to see a game of theirs that wasn't either crap or an inferior remake/expansion to a classic original (Empire Earth 1 was great, EE2/EE3/the EE1 expansion were all horrible)
NATO_Duke @ Apr 4th 2008 6:07PM
You may have liked Empire Earth, but let me tell you - it was nowhere near as good as its film adaptation with John Travolta.
Wait...I got the feeling I'm wrong on a few fronts here. Nah!

Wow, of all the "premier independent development studios" to get gobbled up, well, yeah didn't see this one coming. Almost expected it to be an April Fools joke.
" Hey guys, the company that brought your 'Star Trek Legacy' and botched the 360 port of 'Bully', we bought 'em. How do you like those apples? "
Poisoned Al @ Apr 4th 2008 11:37PM
I was going to say I hadn't had problems with Bully, right up until it crashed after a boss fight! Wee!

Wait, Mad Doc is talented?

The one thing that no one is talking about is that Rock* could make this company great. Plus you never know they could have a new IP that Rock* wants and thinks would be great for them.
Plus the more companies Rock* can get is great news. Plus at the same time it helps Take Two from getting bought out.
