I have been seeing that same controller for 10 years damm. I mean come on. No one at Sony has come up with a new design for that relic?!
Slayer @ Apr 5th 2008 12:36AM
Honestly, I don't think they need to be changed. I've always liked the fact that the controller stays the same.
C4PTAIN AWE5OME @ Apr 5th 2008 1:16AM
wow. 2 years after release, in April of 2008, the PS3 now has rumble. This would be great news if it were 1996; today it just makes me happy i went with the Wii60 combo.
Vidikron (FU) @ Apr 5th 2008 1:46AM
Did your hands change shape in that time span?
DangerMouse @ Apr 5th 2008 3:35AM
Maybe if everyone didn't talk shit about the controllerang, there may have been something new.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Apr 5th 2008 5:46AM
They redesigned that second row of shoulder buttons for the worse: not sure if that's forgiveable.
Cue in the dude who's going to complain about analog stick position, and the dude after him who's going protest, and then the third dude who's going to say that it's all a matter of comfort.
Combined with the new "buddy/friend/guy" meme from Southpark.
playwhutyalike @ Apr 5th 2008 10:02AM
Some people love that design, some people hate it. I don't think there is an inbetween.
I have a PS2 and I bought the Logitech wireless controller because it's bigger size fits better in my hands. If I get a PS3, I'm sure I'll buy an aftermarket controller for that.
Oh, nice to see rumble back.
Zeus.:God @ Apr 5th 2008 11:42AM
Seriously; that controller has been a serious discomfort for me- 'specially after having gotten a taste of a better controller design (Xbox S controller and Xbox 360 controller).
Orionsaint @ Apr 5th 2008 12:02AM
I have to agree with Cyro. It's pretty ridiculous and sad that in 1998 we're basically still using a controller from 1996.
el serpiente @ Apr 5th 2008 10:47AM
Yeah, so sad that in all of our cars we are still using that stupid steering wheel. Why don't they use something else, those stupid car manufacturers? I mean, it hasn't changed since 1923!!!!!!!!!111
Markez @ Apr 5th 2008 12:23PM
I find it sad that in yet another thread about the DS3, someone is again making a comparison to the motor carriages of the early 1900s. Or in this instance, ROARING 20S FTW!
el serpiente @ Apr 5th 2008 11:34PM
I find it sad that you are so daft as to not understand a simple metaphor. Was that too complicated for you? Here's one in the vernacular you may have an easier time with:
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Yeah, many people prefer the xbox controller. That's nice, go play your xbox. But for many people, this design suits them. They like it, and are used to it. Why change something just to change it?
Orionsaint @ Apr 5th 2008 12:02AM
Oops!

Ha... the reply system sucks. You often have to hit the reply link twice. Just make sure it says "replying to *posters name*" after you hit reply. If it doesn't you need to scroll back up and click it a second time.
Ninjakamster @ Apr 5th 2008 1:02AM
I really don't care, its still a fantastic controller design and I bet many others agree with me. Not Sony's fault they made such an ergonomic, comfortable controller that can withstand all these years, bravo!
I find the 360 controller a very, very, very close second behind it though as my most favorite controller.
Zeus.:God @ Apr 5th 2008 11:44AM
I personally find the PS controller to be very cramping. It doesn't fill my hand and cramps the insides of my palms, especially if you have bigger hands, the PS controller is a nightmare.
el serpiente @ Apr 5th 2008 11:35PM
Perhaps you should reduce the frequency of your furious wankage.
Jamesology @ Apr 6th 2008 2:16AM
LMAO!!!
el serpiente FTW!!!
I have all three systems like most do, but for "MY personal" fit the 360 is most comfortable. Though the PS3 controller is really good too. Actually I love both controllers but I prefer the 360 triggers.
Oh and again for the awesome comments

DS3 design is still feels great, the left thumbstick placement does not bother me. The only things I find that doesn't feel right are R2 and L2 design. I wished Sony opt the convex design like Xbox one, or retain as it is in DS2.
Vidikron (FU) @ Apr 5th 2008 2:02AM
I think you mean concave, right? Convex is what they have now. Like you though, I'm fine with the overall design, but I wish they would make properly shaped triggers. I'm fine with the analog stick placement... I can use the the left stick in the primary or second dary position equally well. I do wish they would tighten the stick up though. They tend to be too loose, IMO.
Hardcore @ Apr 5th 2008 2:29AM
Oops yeah! I meant concave :x
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Apr 5th 2008 5:49AM
I wonder what kind of hands their controller testers had when they tried out those new L2/R2 buttons.
Ninjakamster @ Apr 5th 2008 1:46PM
I remember Microsoft saying they had many gamers test
out the original Xbox "Duke" controller for many hours to make sure it was the best controller to use.
And then the Japaense got the smaller "S" controller and everyone else wanted it and the Duke was killed.
Wonder what kind of gamers Microsoft used then?
chris joseph @ Apr 5th 2008 5:34PM
I still think this is pointless. You people went several years without vibrating controllers and I can't believe it's so damned important.
Sony should have stuck with the sixaxis.
daddycool @ Apr 6th 2008 10:51AM
So are these out yet? On the market in the US?
