THQ CEO says company can grow without acquisitions

THQ isn't afraid to make acquisitions, but the company's CEO says it can grow without buying other companies. CEO Brian Farrell tells Reuters that there are other opportunities in the market due to the Activision/Vivendi and (proposed) EA/Take-Two mergers. He says THQ is at a point now where it can be more aggressive than "larger, slower firms."
Although Farrell doesn't believe acquisitions are necessary to grow, the publisher did recently buy Elephant Entertainment and Big Huge Games. He also believes that despite the US economycrashing slowing down, it won't affect the industry (a sentiment shared by others). THQ expects to announce a net loss for its last quarter ending in March and refused to discuss its forecast for the upcoming fiscal year. One guarantee is a lot of licensed games from THQ in the upcoming year ... and we mean a lot!

agreed, they cant just sit back and bank on licensing to keep them afloat.
That said I will by every Cars based game that comes out because my 5-year-old is OBSESSED with everything Cars. That Mater- national game is complete crap but I play it almost every day.

Crashing economy? Oh, you mean that terrible great depression that no one is personally experiencing yet thinks everyone else is...
I love the polls where when asked if YOU personally are doing ok the number is like 79% but when asked how everyone else is doing it drops to around 25%.

I totally agree. The economy is a bit slower, but only because it was so awesome before. There is NO crashing economy. Some people need to just calm down.
Perception is reality though, I'm afraid all these scared consumers will stop spending, and then we really will slip down to a recession.
At this point, everything is fine.

I believe it's because the general public's imagination is out of control. Why else would they believe such nonsense?
