Star Wars: The Force Unleashed gets multiplatform exclusives
73
As with any multiplatform release, fanboys will no doubt be arguing about why their respective system is most suitable for LucasArts' latest entry in their midichlorian-infused franchise: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. However, owners of last-gen systems, handhelds, and Wiis wont be left without their fair share of ammunition in the fracas, as this video shows the exclusive content these sometimes ill-respected systems will have access to. We're still a little apprehensive towards the DS control scheme, but everything else fills our wallets with fear -- we may have to buy a few copies of this gem.
Fanboyism aside, on which console will you be effortlessly chucking stormtroopers through the air come September 16?

I have a Wii and a 360. So, 360 for several reasons:
1. 360 has DMM and Euphoria (Wii most likely will not)
2. Better visuals
3. Controls (sadly, I really doubt Wii will have any control options that would sway me. Motion controls in most Wii games are clunky at best.)
4. Achievements

Did you even see the control scheme for the Wii? I have both the Wii and the 360, and I'm getting it on BOTH.
Here's the scheme.

Hmm ... that does sound pretty cool. I still wonder if it will actually WORK though. I've played more than my fair share of Wii games where I need to attempt the same move multiple times before it actually registers.
If they can pull it off and it works, then I'll give it a shot.

I'm almost sorry to say it looks like I'll get 4 versions.
360 for the Engines and Acheivements
Wii for the motion control
PSP for the historical
PS2 for the Jedi Trials
I have my PS2 on a different TV for when my gf is ver and I don't wanna watch her stupid TV shows, so why not get that one too?

over hyping is different then high prais of a game. Its al right to come out with a video or 2 saying what your game is about and how you think people will like it. The foloowing videos should be gameplay videos which explain features. But these guys have like 25 developer videos, and keep bragging about how its the greatest game since pong.

Sadly, I feel like the "exclusive content" on Wii will feel more like something missing than something added. I guess things could be worse though.

I would pick PS3 but I wish they showed the next gen exclusive content. From what they showed, PSP has the best content. I'll give that version a try too.

Yeah the best ones to pick up are PS3/360 or the PSP if you want any hope of satisfaction.
The PSP's graphics are acceptable, but the Wii and PS2 are severely lacking. Especially the Wii compared to it's current-gen competition. Although it would probably never look as good as them, it could at least look better than a Dreamcast port.

Yeah if I pick it up it will be for the PS3 or 360. However, the PSP version is looking pretty tempting especially for the classic scenes. The DS version is the only one that seems completely bad to me. The Wii version looked exactly the same as the PS2 version to me but it could just be my monitor. Interesting to me in the video that the devs said the PSP & PS2 versions looked very similar. I can't see myself buying a PS2 game unless its one I missed or its only released on the PS2 like Rogue Galaxy. I would like to play the Wii version and test those motion controls out but my money is on the 360 or PS3 version. If there is no mandatory install I will probably get it for the PS3. That is if all things in the game are equal and there are no graphical differences. But if I have to do a forced install I will probably just grab it on the 360.

I agree 5gig's, and 30 min install time just to shave a few seconds off load times was pretty bad. But buddy, it was one game. And most players didn't mind (it sold better on PS3 than X-box. I agree in my oppinion Capcom screwed up, shave 3-4 gig's off and cut load time to no more than 10 min I wouldn't have a gripe with it, but like I said most fans didn't care. But your making it sound like every game for PS3 commonly requires this, when the fact is it's only one game.

On average the PS3 community baught DMC 4. Though X-box numbers were higher its only because they have a higher base (a year head start you know), the fact is on average not as many MS owners baught the game when compared to PS3 owners. BUT if you'd do your research instead of trying to be a FANBOY TROLL OF THE YEAR, you would have known that.

I know how I can explain this better. No these are not the real numbers, but they are simpilar, and easier for people to grasp. Lets scale the numbers down and say the install base for PS3 is 1000, and the install base for X-box is 4000. 4 out of five people baught DMC4 for their PS3, but only 2 out of five people baught DMC4 for their x-box. The percintage of people who baught DMC4 on x-box is lower, but because the install base is higher, more units were sold, were as the install base is lower for PS3 and thus fewer units were sold, the percentage of PS3 users who baught the game is higher than x-box.... However this is all old news, I am not the first nor will I most likely be the last to report this fact. There have been plenty of other posters who have stated these facts, and I'm still pretty sure your just a fanboy who thought he had found an easy mark to ridicule and inflate your eago. Try somewhere else.

I'll probably get it for the 360 or PS3.
While the little bits of extra content is nice on the other platforms, it really isn't worth the trade-off in graphics and processing power, which a game like this deserves.

I will be one of the few picking it up for PSP. All of the big releases for PSP were within the past couple months so by then the amount of quality titles for the console should be slim. Otherwise I would be picking this up for PS3 rather then Wii. I would really have to see how well the versus matches worked for me to pick it up on the Wii (ie no insane Wii Boxing wagglefest)

EA and Ubisoft should take notes, because that right there is how you make a game work on multiple platforms...

I have a bad feeling about this "platform exclusives" at least for The Simpsons Game it worked out horridly. The xBox 360 got the town of Springfeild where they could walk around and just like look around and well there wasn't much to it, but it's still cool and 360 also has online leaderboards, which I could be wrong, but are almost pointless. PS3 got better graphics (that looked the same as 360, but were claimed to be better) and they also had the Springfeild hud. Then Wii really got the short end of the stick, they had no Springfeild hud, no leaderboards, but they got multiplayer minigames, turns out there were only two mini games, neither were even that deep, for the most part they weren't ever equivalent to a Mario Party mini game. So it ended up the 360 was in every way the best one.

I'll probably get the 360 version if i hear it's good. The Wii ports i've gotten in the past were dissapointments. The DS version doesn't look so great and my PS2 is basically a dust covered paperweight at this point.

I think this has always been most marketed for the 360/ps3 version. As good as the controls and interactive experience might sound the wii, one can tell from the graphics that they didn't really pay much attention on making the Wii version. It's not the less polygons or smaller textures. It's the damn washed out look of the playstation 2. PS2's games always looked washed out, while mario galaxy has shown us that we can have a nice colorful experience for the Wii. So the only logical conclusion is that the Wii version uses the PS2 graphic engine, which means they really paid null attention to it...

Why oh WHY is there not a PC version of this game???
I have been following this game since it was announced and it looks like it is gonna kick some serious ass. I want to play it soooo badly but the only systems I have that it's being released on are DS and PS2, and I refuse to buy an inferior version. Dammit all to hell.
LucasArts why have you forsaken us PC gamers?!?!?
Nooooooooooooo

You're not overly excited but you are going to buy TWO versions of it?
I'd hate to see what the excited people will do.
I'm thinking I might *rent* one copy of it.

I have all but the handheld systems and I'll be going with the 360 version for the controller, achievements, and because I'm not getting screwed over by another multiplatform broken ps3 release that "we'll fix with a patch later".
Plus, I prefer to be signed into Live while I play so I can get invites to other games.
