Star Wars: The Force Unleashed gets multiplatform exclusives
73
As with any multiplatform release, fanboys will no doubt be arguing about why their respective system is most suitable for LucasArts' latest entry in their midichlorian-infused franchise: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. However, owners of last-gen systems, handhelds, and Wiis wont be left without their fair share of ammunition in the fracas, as this video shows the exclusive content these sometimes ill-respected systems will have access to. We're still a little apprehensive towards the DS control scheme, but everything else fills our wallets with fear -- we may have to buy a few copies of this gem.
Fanboyism aside, on which console will you be effortlessly chucking stormtroopers through the air come September 16?

I'm still not sure if I'm getting it on the PS3 or 360. Coming months should help me make a decision.

Well for me its obviously the 360 as it is the only console I have, but if I did have multiple consoles it would still get my vote due to me liking the 360 controller about 1 billion times more that all others.

I think the PS2 version would have been an awesome game... Last generation. Sadly, we're all now used to the generous helpings that the Havok engine has given us over the last few years to really feel in awe at the PS2 versions faux-physics. Shame.
The DS version didn't get much coverage... But we knew that version would suck anyway...

Wii version
They didn't overuse the motion controls, and they didn't under-use them, either
For a Force-using game, motion controls are virtually a must, what good's Euphoria if you're just activating it with a button tap?

For the sake of debating, what good is Euphoria without 1:1 controls?

I'll buy the PS3 version. But what really blew me away was the physics on the PSP version. 30 objects all moving at once is impressive for a handheld. The PSP version does look like the handheld version to pick up because the DS version looks really bad.

Wii:
Fugly
The Wiimote could be its savior or it's demise.
The exclusive content looks kind of weak.
Ps2
Ugly
The exclusive content is kind of meh.
It could be the cheaper version.
Psp
Decent graphics ain't God of war but its okay.
Good exclusive content
It could be a good game if the loading times don’t get in its way.
DS
The controls look uncomfortable
Graphics wise is decent.
I think I’ll go for the Xb360 version and maybe the PSP version.why there isn’t a PC version?

1) They should have polished the Wii version graphically (because we know it can generate better graphics than the PS2).
2) "Flick of a wrist" for the DS my ass: it looked like a screen tapping frenzy.

That DS version looked fugly. I think the only companies that understand the DS are Nintendo themselves and Square. Ironically, the best looking Square game has Nintendo characters (Mario Hoops).

Oh yes Mario Hoops 3 on 3 ... The only basketball game in the history of the world not about actual basketball ... Gathering coins and then making a hoop to transfer the coins to your score ... wow ... You are right about the graphics though because they were phenominal ... As much as I sometimes like to make fun of the Nintendo DS and its titles I must say that the majority of the games I play are pretty fun ... My kids each have a DS and I have played through Princess Peach, Mario Kart, Phantom Hourglass and even some Nintendogs. The system achieves what it strives to be. That is not to deep or challenging but very fun, mobile and the ability to play multiplayer games with only one cartdridge. I prefer the PSP for its titles, screen, extras and layout but the DS is an equally fun system.

Console exclusive content is a really annoying and pretty pointless concept. I get why they do it, but i still think it'd be much better if they just put ALL the extra content on ALL the platforms (as much as possible) and made all the games better.
Imagine if movies had different scenes when they played on different brands of DVD players. Grr.
90% of people only have one platform anyway, and console exclusive content tends to be more about what you are missing than what you are gaining.

Yeah I have to agree that its typically better to do it the way you mention. However, given the differences in consoles its not possible to have the same controls, graphics and content (size limitations). However, I agree with you that all of the systems should follow the same story arch even if the Wii version can't have the same physics as the 360 version for example. I think that versus mode in the Wii version actually looks pretty fun if its deep and each character is unique. I will be pretty upset if the PS360 versions do no include the vrsus mode.

Is it me, or does the Wii/PS2 versions look to have PS1 quality graphics, with painted face textures using no facial animation?

Add me in for the PC version, when it's released 12 months later after LucasArts realizes what a boneheaded move excluding it as a platform has been.

Makes me kinda sad that the Wii is being classified with the PSP and PS2.
Ah, well.

HURR HURR SPESSIAL CONSULL ECKSLOOSIVE FOR WII IS MOTION CONTROLS HURR HURR LOOK HOW WEE WENT ALL OWT ON THIS VERSION OF GAME HURR HURR
Every F*ckin time there's a "console exclusive", developers decide that the exclusive on Wii is being "able to play the game with motion controls". You know, cuz all the other games on Wii didn't have motion, so it's creative to implement them now. Douchebags.

With a game of this magnitude, I want to play it on the most powerful system available. So while I like the 360, I'm going to have to get this on my PS3.

Hey Joystiq!
I can't think of a game where all the versions should be compared more.
So Joystiq do you think when possible, could you have a segment where each platform version is compared. Because honestly I'm not sure what too get.
I want the physics of the 360 version, but the control on the Wii looks damn good.
So if the physics on the Wii aren't half bad I'll be getting that one.
Thanks in advance if you do it!!!

The most powerful platform available is a PC. I find it a very distubing trend that many developers are almost totaly ignoring the PC gamers who lets face it are the ones who have kept the SW games alive all this time. No offense to consolers but the latest consols can't hope to keep up with a high end PC.

I'll be getting the PS3 version 1st, and I'm keeping my eye on the PSP version. If it ends up with good reviews , good graphics, and enough extra content, then I might get that version, too.
