Rumor: Full Auto dev Pseudo Interactive closes doors
Shuttering development operations is quickly becoming a fad in 2008, like jelly bracelets or POGs, with yet another studio, Full Auto dev Pseudo Interactive, closing its doors for the last time according to a report by 1UP. In addition to Sega's car combat racing series, the company was also responsible for EA's Cel Damage for the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube.
The site reports that the closure, which has yet to be confirmed by the studio, comes following considerable layoffs suffered in the wake of multiple project cancellations by Eidos and parent company SCi, including an unnamed project the Toronto-based company had been developing. We have attempted to reach Pseudo Interactive for comment.

Full Auto & Full Auto 2 were crap.

That's a little harsh, they weren't brilliant but I had a damn good laugh playing them.

Never heard of Full Auto 2, but I guess that's because it was only released for PS3 and PSP.
Full Auto, I thought, got lost and quicken forgotten during the intial release of 360 games. I had a chance to pick it up later, and was surprised that it was much better than I would have ever thought for a launch game.

Well it's always a shame to see a developer go, but it's hard to feel pity when they induced it upon us first.

Speaking as someone who's had an office close down on him, I have to say this really sucks.
Speaking as someone who plays video games, I have to say that the Full Auto series will not be missed.

Who names a gaming company Pseudo Interactive? After playing Full Auto 2 I can see how it's fitting, but still...

Whoa, Cel Damage! I remember having a lot of fun with that when the Gamecube first came out. Man, glad I was reminded of it, I should play that again and see if it holds up at all.

The Full Auto games are better than most here seem to give them credit for. They are sort of a cross between Twisted Metal and Burnout. They weren't spectacular or anything, but I enjoyed them.

If you close a business while your industry is having record growth and profits you obviously were doing something wrong... very wrong.

i say that, they should revive the car combat series a little more, maybe an online game persay, picture a cel damage, vigilante 8, and twisted metal. that would trully kick ass.
but all and all the genre has gotten a little bland, i havent played a twisted metal in a long while, i am looking forward to getting vigilante 8 on xbox live hopefully, and sure if people buy enough of that game, maybe they could make a vigilante 8 3!

@hi
I'm right there with you. I anxiously awaiting V8 on XBLA. Also, a new TM has been confirmed to be in development for the PS3. I'll be getting that as well.

Does this happen in other entertainment industries?
It seems like every year a dozen or so studios go bankrupt, and a dozen more are bought, merged, closed, and then new ones opened again.
Surely the film industry doesn't do this all the time, does it?
Seems a highly inefficient way to do business to me.

Gee maybe making Full Auto 2 a PS3 exclusive wasn't the smartest idea. "Hmmm how can I get my game to the fewest possible buyers?"
