Rumor: Nintendo Wii Wheel MSRP may be $10
GoNintendo reports that the latest issue of Nintendo Power states the manufacturer's suggested retail price for the Nintendo Wii Wheel is $10. It appears that some retailers aren't taking the suggestion to heart, as Gamestop, Amazon and some other stores are selling the glorified plastic shell for $15 separetly from the game.
Best Buy seems to currently be one of the only retailers we could find that had the product listed and selling for $10 (but we're sure that the Joystiq army of internet detectives can find more). We've contacted Nintendo for confirmation on what the actual MSRP of the Nintendo Wii Wheel is and will update as soon as we receive an answer.

This is the same as the Wii Zapper. Gamestop and Amazon both sold it for $25 ($5 over the MSRP), but Best Buy sold it for $20. Coincidence? I think not.
Fernando Rocker @ Apr 7th 2008 6:44PM
I even bought Zelda Training at $16.99 in Walmart.
At $10 each wheel, I will pick other 3 for my other remotes.

A sucker is born every minute...
Jnas @ Apr 7th 2008 6:41PM
It would make more sense if it came free with the next issue of Nintendo Power...
Kangstarr @ Apr 7th 2008 6:43PM
It would make more sense if it it came out of a cereal box
Chris @ Apr 7th 2008 6:49PM

rv @ Apr 7th 2008 6:55PM
How the hell do you hold it??? Def not 10 and 2, there is no space.
Neebs @ Apr 7th 2008 6:58PM
Actually rv, schools today (in America at least) encourage you to hold it at 4 and 8.
Yes it sucks.
Microswirl @ Apr 7th 2008 8:50PM
"How the hell do you hold it???"
Isn't it obvious? You gotta nudge it with your knees while smoking a cigarette and messing with the radio.

Grrr.... thnx a lot Joystiq comment system.
mr nimblewick @ Apr 7th 2008 6:49PM
Can I just get a $10 discount on the game and not the wheel bundled, then?
Seeing as how the game looks like a step down from DD, that'd be only reason I'd want it.
Fernando Rocker @ Apr 7th 2008 6:54PM
You can get Mario Kart for $9.99 at Gamestop, if you trade two games...
Too bad I don't like to trade my games =(
But, I will go tomorrow to a pawn shop, and see if I can buy two Wii games for less than $20, and trade them in Gamestop.

mr nimblewick @ Apr 7th 2008 7:26PM
That's if gamestop isn't already to stocked up on used copies of tiger woods.
John McPoop @ Apr 7th 2008 8:13PM
@Fernando
Yea I think most of those games are higher value Wii games ... You can't trae in Wii Sports and the other game bundled with the Wii mote
tmacairjordan87 @ Apr 7th 2008 6:51PM
you couldn't pay me to take that POS.
well no i guess you could. I do need to pay off the last 15 bucks on GTA 4
playwhutyalike @ Apr 7th 2008 7:05PM
Mommy cut you off?
tmacairjordan87 @ Apr 7th 2008 7:13PM
no it's called paying for your own shit you should try it sometime
playwhutyalike @ Apr 7th 2008 7:34PM
Is that why you said you would take it if they paid you?
Ass. You don't have $15 lying around?
tmacairjordan87 @ Apr 7th 2008 7:36PM
i do but why would i turn extra money away if i was offered
playwhutyalike @ Apr 7th 2008 7:39PM
Because you're a sellout?
tmacairjordan87 @ Apr 7th 2008 7:49PM
sellout? huh???
not sure what you're trying to get at, but i guess that would make me a sellout then..?
since i'm not rolling in money i'll take any kind of free money that i can get even if it meant a nintendo product would be sitting in my house for the first time in many years.
el serpiente @ Apr 7th 2008 8:08PM
FIGHT! FIGHT!
John McPoop @ Apr 7th 2008 8:15PM
pointless conversation ... Your not a sellout if you do not have tons of money lying around ... Your probably just a college student ... I didn't have any money until I got out of college
playwhutyalike @ Apr 7th 2008 8:25PM
Selling out refers to the compromising of one's integrity, morality and principles in exchange for money, 'success' or other personal gain.
Okay, like McPoop said, pointless conversation.
I'm done now.
Brian @ Apr 7th 2008 9:46PM
you couldn't pay me enough to care about your opinions.
well no you could. I need $15 to pay your mom for last night.
tmacairjordan87 @ Apr 8th 2008 9:50AM
hurr hurr. You must be a writer for saint's row 2 with that kind of humor.
Sora267 @ Apr 7th 2008 6:52PM
You, er, spelled "separately" wrong in the article.
Kevin @ Apr 7th 2008 6:52PM
for $10 they should also include a stencil that says "dumbass" for applying to forehead.
$10 is a lot @ Apr 7th 2008 6:59PM
Do they need it? You're already sitting in front of a TV, waving a pint-size white steering wheel in space.
John McPoop @ Apr 7th 2008 8:16PM
your comment made my day ... and your avatar

"So you want to give me a free Nintendo Wheel? What's in it for me?"
Toms @ Apr 7th 2008 7:05PM
I can't believe this is a rumor situation. Shouldn't we know the price of the plastic at this point?
Roto13 @ Apr 7th 2008 7:16PM
Anyone who makes a big deal out of $10 needs to start making their own money instead of leeching off their parents. How much did you think it was going to cost?
Mr Khan @ Apr 7th 2008 7:21PM
For something that they could probably sell for $3 and still profit off of?
The Artist formally known as Jesus @ Apr 7th 2008 7:20PM
Does anyone know if Logitech is making a wheel for the Wii? With force feedback?
el serpiente @ Apr 7th 2008 8:11PM
Yes, it will also throw banana peels at your feet and turtle shells at your head.
Burnt Meatloaf @ Apr 8th 2008 5:33AM
I don't want to know the details about refills.
mr nimblewick @ Apr 7th 2008 7:24PM
Looking at it I just realized I would have to take the remote out of the condom nintendo keeps me reminding me to use to put it in the wheel.
No real point here, just think it's annoying.
cold school @ Apr 7th 2008 7:40PM
thats not a wheel, its an antenna for the Wiis old school UHF internet connection.
Schmobu @ Apr 7th 2008 8:39PM
Why everyone dis the wheel, has anyone used it how do yous know if it is or isn't worth it until you try, it may be the best thing on Wii.
John McPoop @ Apr 7th 2008 9:02PM
There was that MTV video where the guy tried it out and thats what I am basing my opinion off of ... Besides, if you have ever used a logitech wheel for racing games before (Nascar & Gran Turismo) you would know the benefits of a more stable wheel with a base and pedals
John McPoop @ Apr 7th 2008 9:00PM
I think this wheel looks pretty weak ... If I do pick up this game (probably will for the kids & wife) I will use the classic controller ... They really should make a real wheel attachment like the Logictech racing wheel if they are going to do it ... I just can't see holding a wheel in the air pretending to drive a go kart ... I would rather pretend I am driving with something that at least looks like a real steering rig and attached to a table or sat in the lap ...If I am forced to choose between GTA IV and Mario Kart Wii I will probably go for GTA IV even though I really don't care for the content all that much ... If this is indeed the GTA to top all other GTA then I will certainly try it out ... I am not hating or trolling at all its just a matter of personal taste
mko @ Apr 7th 2008 10:09PM
Hey mcpoop, those wheels cost like a hundred bucks though and they are big and clunky to set up and put away. I'm pretty sure 99% of the people playing Mario Kart would never buy a full racing wheel setup for it. Plus you get a wheel icon next to your time on the leaderboard when you use the wiimote.
Schmobu @ Apr 7th 2008 11:20PM
^ what he said.
And have you ever thought that maybe the guy on MTV was and still is a complete and incompetent noob.
Burnt Meatloaf @ Apr 8th 2008 5:43AM
I agree, Poop, but while control is what makes a great game, that's not what the Wii is about. It's about "the experience". You just can't get the sensation of driving a rackety go-kart without power steering unless you're waving around a lightweight chunk of plastic safely secured to your wrist.
It's pretty much like how disaster movies are supposed to be about things blowing up, but in the end, it's really just a sappy, really drawn-out vehicle for the "human element".
Gurei @ Apr 7th 2008 10:02PM
thats a pretty expensive piece of useles plastic.
Anni @ Apr 7th 2008 10:50PM
Man, all the people who think ten dollars is expensive should have been here for the fifteen dollar article!
Guys, guys, guy, guys, guys.. one comes free with that game. If you don't like it, don't buy another one. If you REALLY don't like it, throw it away.
I just solved every problem posted in this thread. I would like five cents from each of you please.
