Swedish retailer reveals GTA IV PS3 bundle [update]

Swedish retailer Webhallen.com is listing a PS3 bundle for GTA IV at 4,499 SEK ($755). Engadget notes that there doesn't appear to be anything special about the bundle, unlike the not-sold-in-stores Xbox 360 GTA IV special edition.

We contacted Sony America who said that while it can't speak for Europe, "SCEA hasn't announced any GTA PS3 bundle." We've contacted Sony Europe to confirm the legitimacy of the listing and asked if there's anything special inside the box. We'll update ~~when~~ if we hear anything.

Update: UK retailer Shopto has confirmed to GI.biz that the bundle will go on sale the same day as the release of GTA IV, April 29th.

That's a good lookin box. I'd rather have a 360 bundle though. mine just got a system error last week and im out of warranty. so im consoleless for the moment. someone console me. (pun?)

Out of warranty? I do not see how that is even if you bought a launch console. They extended the warranty out 3 years for everyone ... If its an out of warranty repair Microsoft will fix it or replace it for $100.00 or you could force RROD it with the towel trick (I had to do it twice) ...

Why would you want that same piece or crap that crapped out on you? Whether you fix it or buy a new one it's still going to be the same outcome. Sooner or later they all crap out (360).
That's just strange to me. The more they break the more NA buys them. LOL

I agree with you but if money is an issue $100.00 is cheaper for the moment than $499.99 ... I have said many times if my console was not fixed for free I would not buy another one ... People just love the games I suppose

Some people, such as myself, took it upon themselves to fix there 360 when it RRoD'ed on them long before MS extended the warrenty, thus voiding the extention.

also, how can you criticize north americans for buying 360's when Europe is constantly buying every movie tie-in game they see and japan chooses endless gundams over any quality western games. at least north america has godo taste in games.

So you're telling me you rather buy an Xbox 360 twice instead of buying a $499 console? I'm no mathematician but something is wrong with that equation.
Besides, PS3s are $399 with a second choice of $499.

Here's a simple solution for those of you guys whole loves your xbox 360. Stop buying them and eventually MS will reconsider about their flawed product. As long as 360s selling they will continue with the faulty consoles.
Personally, I think 360 has a decent software catalogue but I wouldn't dare invest a dime on a jeopardy.

In all seriousness it is good idea for Sony to bundle GTA IV with the system ... It would probably entice some people who do not own either console to pick up a PS3 especially if the cost of the game is included in the regular systems price ... I still associate GTA with the PS3 as well as Devil May Cry ... I just can't see playing those games on a 360 ... retarded I know ... Just like I couldn't see playing Halo on a PS3

One more thing ... If they are going to do a bundle they should also include a limited edition color like the MGS bundle ... Maybe some GTA graphic in a graffiti style ... Or maybe even a different color

it's not the same picture. look at it again. the picture does look like it came from photoshop though. no biggie, it's probably just the picture sony includes with their marketing stuff for the bundle.

Yeah this is bullshit. I live in Europe and I haven't seen this picture before in any of the videogame stores
were I live, the only picture they have is the MGS4 bundle picture. I know PS3 is selling well here in Europe but c'mon Sony.

Microsoft 'fixed' my console twice already. those times it was free. im not gonna pay a hundred bucks to have it 'fixed' again only to have to pay that same hundred bucks 4 months later.

that 'piece of crap' plays the games i like. ps3/wii exclusives dont interest me (sequels much?) and multiplatform games play best on 360. and by the way, making fun of americans is a surefire way to convince people youre intelligent.

I like the way people ignore North America is conformed by 3 countries and not only the U.S, also that the term Americans should be used to describe all the people living in the continent not only the people living in the U.S, Is like saying Europeans referring only to the people living in the U.K. Even so I believe the original argument still applies.

msoft dished out $50 million for DLC and marketing exclusitivity. Europe is a huge gaming market where msoft is still truding along in 3rd place. How the hell did their deal with Rockstar allow the ps3 to get a gta4 bundle there? msoft should've had a bundle on lockdown. terrible blunder if true.

Honestly? I don't see why MS didn't do this first...
They should be promoting the hell out of the game with bundles and ads yet I haven't seen any (maybe coz I'm Australian?)...Coz as people say, GTA=playstation...
Ahh well, not my loss anyway.

Anyway, if I was console-less right now, this is the kinda thing I'd be waiting for before I purchased a console.

could just be me but i have never seen a multiplatform game bundled in with any game system.

sony wants SOFTWARE sales, meaning bundles will contain SONY exclusives

Well the xbox 360 premium bundle comes with a multiplatform (Marvel Ultimate Alliance).

Also that in Japan there was a Ps3 bundle with Devil may cry 4,another multiplatform.GTA IV is pretty big so this is makes sense,also this is Sony they will negate it the first week and reveal it later as the big surprise.
