It's been a while since we've talked about Unreal Tournament 3 on the Xbox 360, but Epic's Mark Rein has said in the game's forums that the port is due to be shown in a couple of weeks at Midway's Gamers' Day in Vegas. He says there is no "particular release date yet," but that the title is "coming along really nicely."
We're still a little curious about what UT3 on Xbox 360 will offer. The PS3 version recently received free maps (something we know MS doesn't like to do) and Rein previously admitted there were complications with Microsoft over modding. Hopefully there'll be some answers at Midway's Gamers' Day on April 17.

I can understand why not. If there's no modding, it loses one of the brightest bullet points on the back cover.

With or without gimped console-style modding support, UT3 has little to offer here. In an already overloaded genre, you have AAA standout titles like COD4, Bioshock, Orange Box, Gears of War, and even Halo 3.
UT3 is firmly entrenched with second-tier titles like The Darkness and Resistance. Only the most hardcore FPS enthusiasts are going to be excited for this one.

With you there. There's too many games on the horizon that I'd rather focus on than Unreal.

Wait, I need to clarify myself on this. I already have this on PS3 so thats why I dont really care about the 360 version. Although like Jeff said earlier I do believe this will be the definative version with maps, updates, better performance and of course *better online =)
I should probably trade my PS3 version for the 360 version as I havent even gotten any mods at all =/ and none of my friends have a PS3.
The game itself is OK, comparing to Halo3 like most others do...the only difference between the 2 is that I have more fun on Halo3. I just came out underwhelmed with this game and there was even suppose to be a "campaign"...more like a training session for online.

When they decide that mods are acceptable on the 360 as well, I might care a little bit more about this game. Unfortunately, Microsoft partially screwed over those types of gamers with their decision to have the 'Core' system. At least, that's why I would imagine they don't.
Because I would seriously love to throw some of the better mods for Oblivion on my 360. And yeah, I would probably pick this game up for the modding opportunities as well. I just can't afford to keep up with PC gaming anymore, too rich for my blood.

Nope. To Microsoft, the issue is not about whether you have a hard drive or not, but whether they can control user-generated content that isn't Halo 3 or Forza 2.
Look around for the articles about MS preventing (demanding removal of) N+'s level-sharing feature.
So what if there are people that draw penises in maps, on cars, or in levels? That crap will most likely be ignored. People will only download good content for their games.
MS needs to realize that if they have a little faith in the community, the community will respond in return.

Of course this game is going to happen. Midway is the publisher and they are not doing too hot right now. They want another version out to minimize their losses.
No amount of "gee who cares, I want GOW 2" is going to convince them otherwise.
Of course, the problem with this game is that there isn't anything new or different besides better graphics.
MEH... I'll pick it up when it's $15 used at Gamestop.
Unless they're adding something cool to the 360 version. Could the extra development time be worth it?

I could care less about this game. CoD4 online is better, hands down. And by the time UT3 comes out [for the 360], it'll be old news.

Why is it suddenly bad that the 360 version might not have no user-created mods? Did any of the prior Xbox "Unreal ______" support user-made content?

UT3's been a major disappointment overall. While the game isn't bad, it's lacking in the grand scheme of things when compared to 2k4. For one, I'm hoping they add Assault back into the game, that mode was probably the most fun and I'm still wondering wtf they were thinking. Warfare mode just doesn't have that excitement Assault brought.

Hell yeah... I was in an Assault clan during the days of the original UT. I loved that mode. I was sorely disappointed when it was removed for UT2K3. They addeed it back for 2K4, but by then my PC was out of date and I just didn't care enough to update. But now I have a new PC and it's gone again. Why do they keep fucking with Assault???

Who gives a f*ck about Unreal?
I mean I wasn't going to get it last year and I def won't get it this year with Gears 2 on the horizon.
Epic f*cked themselves over with this one. Plus if MS doesn't allow mods then they definitely are not seeing my money.

Wow. I can't believe all the comments in this thread.
Ut3 is a beautiful game, that deserved tons of "best graphics" awards. Sadly, the gaming media only likes to hype games that are being hyped by the publisher-- and Midway sucks epic quantities of dick.
It ships with a ton of maps, game modes, mutators... and the gameplay is more fun than anything available right now. High speed, perfectly balanced, dodging? Nothing else is like this, and nothing else is comparable to this. It is exactly the type of game you 360-owners masturbate to.
Please don't doom us to a future filled with nothing but slow, boring Halo clones.

Twitch gunplay has a home. Even if you suck at UT3, you can still take a couple people down. But UT3 really is a trial by fire scenario. You're thrown into a bear pit with an ice pick and told to right your way out. The more you play, the better you get as figuring out the dynamics. The first time you kill someone with a translocator is a thing of beauty.

I would definitely recommend it Jeff, but you can't deny that Epic could have pleased the thousands of Assault fans out there, but choose not to. As a PC Gamer, it's also a bit disappointing that the menu system is made completely for a gamepad, not a mouse and keyboard. It's absolutely the worse menu system I've ever seen, especially since 2k4 was fantastic, as well as UT99. This game wreaks of a PS3 game first, PC game second. After all, look how long us PC Gamers had to wait for our version.

UT3 on PS3 is an AWESOME game, the online community just bites. I would TOTALLY give up "mods" on the 360 version just to get it out the door and play a decent online experience! Hmm... maybe the real reason they have delayed it this long isnt the mod factor, but rather because they are adding all the new graphics tweaks seen in the GOW2 Locust Tech Demo and they just want to surprise everyone ^__^

I imagine the 360 version will be somewhat definitive-- including all the latest patches and improvement upon release, and almost definitely better performance (perhaps allowing for higher playercounts?).
Moreover, since its an online shooter, it will suit Xbox live very well.

I still think the PS3 version will trump it. Mods + KB/M support makes the PS3 version better, IMO. I really don't think the online experience will be all that much better on the 360 where it will not only be competing against CoD4, but also Halo 3 for online play time.

I would imagine that you're full of BS. The 360 one will have none of that.

haha, another ps3 'exclusive' stolen from the hands of Sony. Becuz the 360 brand is so in tune with fps's i'm gonna make a prediciton that this title alone will boost 360 sales by several hundreds of thousands of units upon release. the software itself will sell over 1 million on the 360.

UT3 was never exclusive for the PS3- and never was intended to be either.
I prefer the 360, but it was never "stolen" from Sony or the PS3.

Considering how much more popular the PS3 is in Japan compared to the 360 (vice versa in North America), I'm wondering why we haven't seen more Japanese style games for it, more RPGs, etc?
Of course the 360 is the way to go for Western games, a TON of first person shooters and RPGs on it.
I suppose Sony should focus on Japanese style games then.

PS3 also has most of those "TONS" of FPS's your speaking of ya jackass with the exclusion of one of the best. Halo 3! So, you FAIL

Mods? Who gives a shit. Usually when you download a "popular" mod, you can't find anyone online to play with that particular mod anyways.
I purchased UT3 for the PC and love it just how it is. It does what it claims to do perfectly... except for the single player. But who plays it for that anyways?
I'm not one of those guys who refuses to upgrade to Counter Strike: Source over CS 1.6. I'm happy with the upgraded graphics and gameplay changes because UT2K4 was starting to look a little stale and the things they did add to UT3 were welcome additions. But still that leaves me with no reason to purchase the xbox version as all my friends have the PC version... so why am I posting in this thread? Because I'm sick of people hating on a great game. Most people don't know what they are talking about... they just report what they've heard from other blogs/reviews etc... It's the same with UT3 and with Crysis recently. Try the game first please.
