Activision settles suit over Wii Guitar Hero's mono sound
Those replacement discs and free guitar faceplates that Activision has been sending to jilted, mono-version buyers of Wii's Guitar Hero III are now enshrined in law. Gamespot is reporting that the publisher has officially settled the class-action lawsuit brought late last year by gamers who were angry over getting fewer sound channels than they were promised by the game's marketing and packaging. The settlement stipulates that wronged parties will be able to get a replacement disc and a free faceplate through Aug. 31. It might not quite be the full profit stripping that the original suit sought, but we suppose it is something to have the replacement program enshrined in the law.

It's not, but whatever. They'll feel the pain when nobody buys the Aerosmith edition.
No one's gonna buy the Aerosmith edition, right?
Guys?

A guy I know practically shit himself because Aerosmith is his favourite band (why?) so someone'll buy it anyway.
Martez @ Apr 8th 2008 2:45PM
Aerosmith is fine and good, I like a healthy number of their tunes, but I'm boycotting the game- it should DLC for one, and Activision is completely destroying the series' (previously) good name.

Attempting to give a damn about what the internet has to say about Aerosmith.
Attempt failed.
Would you like to try again?
You choose Cancel, are you sure? : Y
I like Aerosmith, not enough to sh*t my pants but I like some of their songs but I will definitively check the song list first.
Mr.ESC @ Apr 8th 2008 2:53PM
I thought the problem was the DLC itself. It was overpriced and you got 2 songs you never liked with the one you wanted, yes it will be if you could buy the song but I don’t think Activision can do this.
Remember that the laws regarding the music industry are b*tches.
Too bad is not like Audio surf .

Activision can't do what? Sell the songs individually? Rock Band can.
Knight Marquise @ Apr 8th 2008 2:59PM
Sorry Martez,
I'm buying it, and not once, but 3X as my twins want the pack as well as I do.

Except for the faceplate (which I'd say didn't cost Activision a huge amount to make each) what difference is this than what Activision already were doing? They seemed from a purely spectator position to have been doing quite alot to help including replacement discs.

I never got a face plate for my guitar. Am I the only one?
dresden @ Apr 8th 2008 3:23PM
I got my replacement disk yesterday, but no face plate. Not sure if it comes separate or what. It's nice to have my Guitar Hero back though. :P

I'm just wondering whether any of this applies to Europe. I live in Europe, and own a copy of the game, and I wouldn't mind trading it in for a stereo version and a free faceplate. Anyone know where I might do this?
EcnobA @ Apr 8th 2008 6:10PM
I'm not only not going to buy GHA but im also boycotting
the rock band wii port from the ps2.
I might not even buy any other GH game for wii unles they step it up in the quality and stop porting from the ps2 versions.
DCBlack @ Apr 8th 2008 8:10PM
I don't have the Wii version, but I would have also gotten Activision to throw in free gum for all and a coupon for a free meal at Bennigan's (with the purchase of a meal of equal or lesser value).
NewJohnny @ Apr 9th 2008 12:17AM
I solved this problem without Activision. I sold the Wii GH3 on Craigslist, bought two GH3 packages for Xbox and sold the Rock Band guitar on craigslist. After the dust settled, I've got two wireless guitars for Rock Band and the GH3 game for about $50.
The Wii is awesome, but not for GH3 or Rock Band.

What about, you know... *cough* Europe? *cough*
Justin @ Apr 25th 2008 3:03PM
I don't know if anyone else has this problem. My replacement disk still has sound issues. During co-op mode, when you trigger star power the sound goes mono again. If you do star power under single player mode, it sounds great. And, when you don't use star power in co-op mode it sounds great. For whatever reason co-op star power just gets screwed.
