If you have X3FLIVE or my gamertag (Snypz) on your friends list you can check it out.

It's not perfect. But it works.

Only YOUR OWN friends will see it though.

Sweet! You guys answered my question! Thanks! Its too bad about the legal issues and licensing, though, because I'd definitely d/l that gamerpic. I'll have to see if I can get a good pic with my Vision cam.

Awesome guys, keep up the hard fanboy work!

As Xav said, it does work. I've had a certain other Xbox specific site (TXD) logo as my gamerpic though this method for a long time now. It's a complete bitch to get a good image though.

I'm pretty sure the camera only lets you change your pic that your friends see, not your "Live" pic. Otherwise we'd have all sorts of things as people's gamerpictures (and it would kinda detract from their being a marketplace for such things)...

I found VGA gave me a MUCH better picture than component. I'd recommend VGA over anything (bar HDMI of course) and it's DVD-upscaling is fine and dandy, especially if your Xbox [via VGA] is set to the native res of your LCD display

Oh, forgot to mention - there's a website that shows you every gamerpic there is: http://www.mygamercard.net/gpscout.php

Simply select the pack name from the list and voila. Or, even search by keyword. Neato

Thanks for the mention!

Just wanted to add that you can search by GamerTag, too.. so if your friend has a really cool GamerPic but won't tell you what it is, just plug it into the last searchbox and it should give you all the information we know. :)

The site that you could use to view themes before you bought them was located at http://www.dashboardthemes.com. Unfortunately, it has since become defunct, and is now a GoDaddy ad page.

that metronome game looks awesome, it kinda reminds me of oddworld, a series that I sorely miss.

Someone get a hold of Tarsier immediately.

I have been wanting The City of Metronome since it was announced and, frankly, I will continue to want it until it's released.

Same here, actually. And I agree, good stuff!

That said...

Sorry to hear about the Oklahoma meet-up, Richard. Something a lot farther north - and maybe a little east while you're at it - and I'd have been there myself, but I digress.

Good looking out on the gamer pic/theme preview issue. I hate buying crap that ends up being crap and I cant return it.

richard i would have totally been at the tulsa meetup had i a faker at the time, although i'm sure i could've gotten in without being carded. there are quite a few oklahoma x3f readers, so i'm sure there were just a few scheduling conflicts and what not. if you scheduled something legitimate ahead of time, i'd make an effort to be there.

While you can view themes and gamerpics on xbox.com it should be said that they don't update the new offerings very often...or sometimes at all.

If anyone has checked out the new Nike SPARQ ads on Xbox live it is clear that the Xbox team should be able to figure out how to offer online previews of themes and gamerpics. Harmonix even managed to figure out a way to preview song tracks so any excuse from the Xbox team as to why it can't be done would be pretty weak at this point.

If X3F has another meetup in Tulsa count me in. I'm sittin just south in OKC. Last time I would of made it, but it was a short notice. If I have about a week's notice, I can convince the fiance to take a trip to Tulsa for the weekend.

Now of course the meetup must include some Rock Band and a few adult beverages.
