Exclusive just ain't the word it used to be. Rock Band's European debut was going to have some exclusive tracks just for the continent, but ShackNews reports that MTV Games says those tracks will be available in North America as downloadable content. MTV Games did not specify price or timetable for release of the DLC. Now, let's be serious, did anybody ever think those songs would stay exclusive to the continent?
Also, there's some clarification going on in the Rock Band forums that the new songs will be "treated as DLC" in the European version. We're not sure exactly what this means, but we believe that the new songs (some which are sung in French or German) won't be part of the standard campaign.

Sweet, I was hoping this would be the case. I'm happy for this, especially Muse.

They already said no DLC on Wii... =/ So not sure how it works with Wii in EU, but if it's on disk (and not a secondary disk that you install on HD) then maybe. But don't hold your breath.

Now we juts need a Japanese version of Rock Band released with exclusive tracks from X Japan, L'Arc En Ciel, Asian Kung-fu Generation, Girugamesh, The Pillows and more so that we can get that as DLC too.
This gives me hope for all DLC being available everywhere.

Hey, technically, we're getting them cheaper than Europe's "free" when you remember that free means coming with the insanely inflated prices for the whole game. I'm sorry Europe, I know this happens a lot to you.

I'll download the Blur and Oasis tracks the same day they're released - without question. Beetlebum is going to be a lot of fun to sing.

To answer your question, Alexander, I'm positive when they say "treated like DLC", they mean they won't add their scores to your rankings. If you notice, the scores you get on your DLC songs do NOT add to your total score, thus not allowing the person with the richest wallet to get the highest total score. It's only the main songs that can affect your online ranking. So even though the European Version gets extra songs on them, they won't be treated as a core song and their scores will most likely not affect the ranking, to allow for fair competition across the world.

Activision can no doubt have any problems with giving out one free song pack to just one country. They'll likely ship the european version with a subscription code to download the DLC pack for free. It's not like EA doesn't already have plenty of other songs to sell.
