God of War II goes Greatest Hits

It's a scientific fact that $20 is a magical price point for console games. It's the price at which our judgment of what's worth buying and what's not begins to blur and we falter, letting our baser instincts hold sway. "Why do you own Kinetica?" a friend will ask incredulously, before a look silences him and he understands all to well: It was $20.

Well here's a $20 purchase you can be proud of: God of War II has just attained "Greatest Hits" status, meaning that if you haven't purchased it yet you have an errand to run on your way home from work. Trust us, you'll be glad you picked it up ... unlike some $20 purchases. (We're looking at you, Fugitive Hunter.)

At least the PS2 greatest hits cases weren't as bad as the Xbox and the 360s boxes. They still retained a black box, and not the silver piece of shiat that the other's did.

Personally, I think the little yellow strip on the Gamecube's games were the least distracting and most visually pleasing.

I don't see the problem with the case, I mean, only the PS label changes color and it's not like it's bright green or something

On the other hand, the $20 price label IS an important factor

But, for example, I have both Kingdom Hearts with the metallic cover.

The Greatest Hits cover for both KH are very ugly, with a normal cover.

Besides, not only the change the black color for red, they aslo add a little curved red space with the words Greatest Hits

I just don't get why it has to be such an ugly color like red for the GH. If it could just be black and have the little GH curve thing that would look a million times better. Throwing a huge slab of red on their distorts the covers balance. Same goes with the Platnium hits and the gamecube one's.

I always hate the Greatest Hits cases too, and try to avoid them anywhere... used at GS, ebay, wal-mart.. etc. I think they know they're ugly - so - its incentive to buy it before it reaches Greatest Hits status (full price).

After thinking about it I too will try to get the non-GH version. Not because of the cover tho, but because GH = B&W booklet.

Fer, I guess it sorts of depends on the original game cover. GoW's cover already has some red stuff so I don't think its a problem (in this case anyway).

This is so weird. Just yesterday after beating Chains of Olympus I was wondering if this game had gone down in price. Sure enough next day it does. Weird!!

Chains of Olympus was the first GOW game I ever played and I think it was great.I was thinking about buying GOWII but at full price there are Xbox 360 games I wanted to buy first but now that is cheap I might buy it one of these days meanwhile MGS:E is one hell of a collection.

You'll probably not want to miss the first GOW. It explains a lot about, well, the TITLE and what happened after CoO.

Plus, GOWI and GOWII both have even more epic boss battles than CoO. Definitely play through both =)

Oh, I've played through God of War I (rented it) Didn't think much of it, found the crate puzzles annoying and lengthy. I actually felt Chains had better boss battles than the first one but I know GoW II has the best boss battles just by looking at it on youtube.

But will it play on my 40GB PS3......Nope!! I hate my PS3, really I do. It plays movies great though. Gran Turismo isnt what I thought it was going to be, after spending money to have that crap imported. It Was the only game I was really looking forward to. At least my Logitech wheel worked. There is no way you can sell me on how much better the PS3 is than the 360. Other than the 360 being prone to RROD there is nothing other than Blue-ray that the PS3 has over the 360. I was a huge Playstation fan, even imported the PS2 when it first came out in Japan. Anyways my rant is done, I was just thinking about how pissed I was when I bought this game to not have it work. Sorry for the rant.

You know whats "epic" is when people can't use the word in the right context. I hate hearing this word and it's used all the time now. If you have a 40gb it will not work. If you have a 20gb, 60gb, or 80gb it will.

I understand where you are coming from, usually I do a lot of research before I buy a product. I figured I was buying a PS3 which should play PS2 games...right? Well this is the last Sony product I will ever purchase. Why should I have to pay more money for a feature that comes standard on every PS3 SKU except mine. Plus the extra money for the god damn HDMI cable plus a BlueTool headset so I can chat with my one friend who has a PS3 too. Thats why I got the cheap PS3. Just writing this makes me want to sell it. For the record I have had 4 Xboxs, one ate all my games. Microsoft replaced my whole game library with (2) copies of each game that had been destroyed by the machine.

No what happened is I bought Forza 2 and after a few days I couldn't play it because it put circular rings on my disk. I was playing GOW in conjunction with Forza so they both got ruined. I had a guy that was assigned to my case and he asked me what games I had in my library. I told him and he said that Microsoft would replace my library. I started receiving a bunch of games withing a few weeks of each other and got multiple copies of each game. I gave them to my friends. I assume the purpose this served was Microsoft making a mistake and sent me double copies. My point is that I am very happy with Microsoft's customer service
