Rumor: LittleBigPlanet coming to the PSP
As if it weren't bad enough having to pine for the PS3 version of LittleBigPlanet, CVG is now reporting that we're going to have to look forward to a PSP version of the game too. It says an inside source has revealed that LBP is in development for the PSP at Sony's Studio Liverpool, probably best known for Wipeout games on the portable platform.
Though no other details are available at this time, we're thoroughly excited. But please, Sony, if you have any mercy, release some version of LittleBigPlanet before you start announcing other ones, we only have so much room in our hearts. Heck, we'd be happy with LittleBigPlanet fast food toys at this point. And no, we don't count the plushies.

A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Apr 8th 2008 1:53PM
Is it just me, or is this game another Spore in terms of release issues...?
SoulBlade @ Apr 8th 2008 10:11AM
Could be really cool. Connectivity options please.
Worst Review Ever @ Apr 8th 2008 10:12AM
Little Big Planet coming to PSP...via remote play.
ZaxCG2 @ Apr 8th 2008 10:35AM
That would still be cool though... right? Anyone?
Ves @ Apr 8th 2008 12:07PM
That was my first thought when I saw the words littebigplanet and psp
Chris! @ Apr 8th 2008 10:13AM
Is Little Big Planet the most hyped game ever?
SoulBlade @ Apr 8th 2008 10:40AM
I'm pretty sure Halo 3 won that award. If not H3, then Smash. I'm probably missing some... but yea.
Martez @ Apr 8th 2008 11:17AM
No, it does not have it's own shitty-tasting soda. Halo 3 wins.
Mr.ESC @ Apr 8th 2008 11:24AM
(G)Ha(y)lo 3 won that award.
Grey Acumen @ Apr 8th 2008 10:13AM
I'm sure to get flamed for this, but if it can run on the PSP, then it should be able to run on the Wii as well :P
farfisa @ Apr 8th 2008 10:32AM
I'm sure Sony's going to get to work on that Wii version really really soon.
mr nimblewick @ Apr 8th 2008 10:45AM
Just goes to show that the argument of "360 and PS3 create game possibilities you can't do on the Wii" is a load of hooey.
riggs @ Apr 8th 2008 11:03AM
or not. and cocks.
Matt B @ Apr 8th 2008 2:06PM
I thought as a wii buyer, you already knew you wouldn't get most of the big games. Just Nintendos.
DomoBraden @ Apr 8th 2008 4:26PM
What, like the PSP version would be carbon-copy clone of the console version? Of course it could be ported to the Wii, PSP, and hell, probably even the DS. It wouldn't look as nice and the customization options would be limited, (and the online functionality would be severely hampered on the Wii...damnit Nintendo), but it could be done.
I'm not sure what point you're trying to make? Do you not understand the concept of a port? Just because most Sony fanboys like to brag about 1336 GR4PH1C5 doesn't mean we all do. I f-ing hate fanboys, (all of them, I don't care what kind).
xFenixKnightx @ Apr 8th 2008 10:27AM
Well IMO part of the appeal of this game to me on PS3 were the visuals. They look so realistic in HD, so the psp version would be lacking in that dept which would take away from it. I cant wait for a demo of this on PSN!
Noshino @ Apr 8th 2008 10:32AM
Fenix,
If GoW can pull those graphics on the psp, so does LBP.
And actually, the main advantage that I see from a portable version is being able to use the editor on the go...that would be so freaking awesome...
xFenixKnightx @ Apr 8th 2008 10:41AM
What?
God of War2 (PS2 graphics) vs the PSP version yes
God of War3 (PS3 graphics) vs the PSP version NO!
Just nevermind Noshino, yea it would be cool but I wanna see in on mah 50' 1080p plasma in true HD.
Lewis @ Apr 8th 2008 10:30AM
there goes my reason to get a PS3...
ILPC @ Apr 8th 2008 11:00AM
same here, I have a PSP and the only PS exclusive I was looking forward to was LBP. now am i going to have to come up with something else to talk myself into dropping the cash for a PS3, hahaha.
el serpiente @ Apr 8th 2008 11:41AM
You were gonna get a $400 system for a $15 downloadable game?
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Apr 8th 2008 11:54AM
I thought LBP was a disc release.
Lewis @ Apr 8th 2008 12:25PM
Maybe I would have. Nothing else is convincing enough.
NATO_Duke @ Apr 8th 2008 1:47PM
"You were gonna get a $400 system for a $15 downloadable game?"
I'm with you here. Do people think the rest of us, or Sony, believe that when we see it posted.
ILPC @ Apr 8th 2008 3:08PM
No I was going to get it because of the blu-rsy player but I wanted it for games too, and LBP is a disc release game I was really looking forward to, so I figured that was at least one game I would play, plus oblivion, and some others that were also released on 360. But LBP was the only exclusive I wanted so I was trying to decide between 360 and PS3. I was scared off because of 360's RROD although it has more games I want, so it's been a trying time for me.
Microswirl @ Apr 8th 2008 3:15PM
"You were gonna get a $400 system for a $15 downloadable game?"
Sure, why not? No different from buying a $500 system for a (technically) free game: 80GB PS3 + MGS4 bundle.
Some people just like certain games so much that for them it's a system-seller. Oh, and is this a $15 game? I figured it was a full retail release; heck it may LOOK simple, but there's enough complexity going on behind the scenes to justify a higher price, like $40 - $60
samfish @ Apr 8th 2008 4:57PM
"You were gonna get a $400 system for a $15 downloadable game?"
I would, if said game was God Hand 2 or Okami 2.
Syn @ Apr 8th 2008 10:37AM
I can live without it on PSP.
Almost all of my gaming is on the PS3.
Trev @ Apr 8th 2008 10:48AM
Not all that interested in a PSP version.
I've found that I just don't have the time for mobile gaming lately; I'm either at work and end up doing something else on my breaks, or at home where I have my other systems. Anywhere else and I'm probably there for a reason other than standing around with a PSP.
For the amount of time I'd want to spend either making or messing with levels, a portable version just doesn't work.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Apr 8th 2008 10:51AM
I thought only the PSTRIPLE and its 9 CORES had the power to bring this game to life.
Turns out, it could have been made on PS2.
Phranctoast @ Apr 8th 2008 10:59AM
turns out, that this is still listed as a rumor.
Worst Review Ever @ Apr 8th 2008 11:01AM
Turns out, Phranctoast is a little defensive...
protos28 @ Apr 8th 2008 11:06AM
Well, one could say the same about Wii games like Zelda: Twilight Princess, Smash Bros, any of the other PS2 to Wii ports, etc etc etc being on the gamecube. You get the point.
mr nimblewick @ Apr 8th 2008 11:16AM
Smash bros is a PS2 port?
Hardcore @ Apr 8th 2008 11:29AM
If I remember correctly there was a 2D prototype version of the game. Well that could be PSP version (with some enhancements) if this rumor was true.
Still I am buying the PS3 version.
Worst Review Ever @ Apr 8th 2008 11:30AM
He's not your kid, son.
el serpiente @ Apr 8th 2008 11:38AM
Wow, all the haters are afraid of a little kiddie game on the PS3. Don't worry kids, your wii-wii has that market category fully covered.
protos28 @ Apr 8th 2008 11:43AM
mr nimblewick,
are you unable to grasp the concept of commas?
mr nimblewick @ Apr 8th 2008 12:21PM
Protos, are you unable to grasp the meaning of the word "other"?
Curmeo @ Apr 8th 2008 11:13AM
some of you guys are seriously stupid. Crono, Mr. Nimblewick...
first off, assuming the rumor is true, i guarantee the PSP version of this game will not have the same gameplay level as the PS3 version due mainly to the vastly inferior CPU.
secondly, yes a PSP-level toned down version could be ported to Wii, as Wii's capabilities are very similar to PSP/PS2.
you guys saying LBP showing up on PSP is proof that the PS3 version of LBP could be pulled off on Wii is like saying virtually every PSP/PS3/360/Wii/PS2 multiplat game offers the exact same gameplay level.
oh yeah one more thing and this one especially goes out to Nintendonald's lovers: theoretically speaking, the PSP version would be pretty much identical to the Wii version except a) it wouldnt have stupid waggle controls that dumb down/spoil the gameplay and b) it would have a superior online gameplay experience.
mr nimblewick @ Apr 8th 2008 11:20AM
No Crumeo, I didn't say the wii can pull off the same graphical quality that the PS3 can, just that you can get the same gameplay experience without all that extra graphic horsepower.
All of you nintendo haters have been saying for a while that LBP is an example of new gameplay that simply couldn't be done on wii. This says otherwise.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Apr 8th 2008 11:21AM
You are making alot of assumption there, cumeo. None of which can be backed up except by the hope and dreams that Sony hasn't fed you another load of bologna.
How do you know the PSP version won't have similar/identical gameplay? Because Sony said only the PS3 could make LBP work? Please.
Level of gameplay? This gen has games with the exact same level of gameplay as they did last gen, except the graphics now have a heavy coat of gloss, and you can more readily play online.
Don't kid yourself, kid.
el serpiente @ Apr 8th 2008 11:39AM
Ah, look at them struggle, throwing out their feeble arguments in a desperate attempt to bash the PS3. Hilarious!
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Apr 8th 2008 11:55AM
Yes, you heard me right.
You are cock is feeble.
Its so feeble it needs an extra "are"
mr nimblewick @ Apr 8th 2008 12:20PM
"a desperate attempt to bash the PS3"
I'm not trying to bash the PS3.
Raikage (LDF CRAB BATTLE!!!) @ Apr 8th 2008 3:13PM
Seriously, there are not many games out now that couldn't be played almost identical last gen. HD adds alot to immersion and just plain awesomeness (is that a word?) but it really isn't essential.
Example. I'm playing through MGS3 (again) for the first time in 3 years. Does it suck with out HD grafyx?, yeah right, it's still one of the best games I have ever played. Being on the 360 or PS3 wouldn't do much for the gameplay at all.
Now one of the only games I can think of that are "next gen" is Dead Rising. When you go from 100 zombies down to 4-10 it really looses the effect.
Besides that I can't think of a SINGLE game that NEEDS the "power" this gen offers. But like cowbell, we all want moar power out of our consoles.
Babel @ Apr 8th 2008 4:12PM
Crono and Mr Nimblewick make me smile.
El Serpiente, you just make me roll my eyes and move on.
el serpiente @ Apr 8th 2008 5:18PM
*farts in pillowcase, pulls it over babel's head*
