The Force Unleashed selling point #17: Play as Darth Vader!
Incidentally, you'll be able to do that in September's Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The game's opening moments see you taking control of Darth Vader and wreaking havoc, shortly before encountering your "secret apprentice." If that isn't enough to excite you, perhaps a long string of hip and happenin' youth buzzwords from project lead Haden Blackman will do: "[The Force Unleashed] means you have access to force powers that are amped up, over the top and in some cases, totally out of control."
Wait a minute... there are cases where force powers are, in fact, somewhat in control? So much for selling point #16.

I briefly thought every system out there included the Game Boy Color and got my hopes up, but apparently it's not coming out for that system :(
Hashbrown Hunter @ Apr 8th 2008 8:40AM
...ya think?
bigsofty @ Apr 8th 2008 10:11AM
Gametrailers suck ass outside US, laggy...
Phillip @ Apr 8th 2008 10:19AM
I laughed out loud, Slaziman. Thanks for that. =)
NoTomorrow @ Apr 8th 2008 2:56PM

Poisoned Al @ Apr 8th 2008 7:41AM
Why does "chocking the wookie" sound like a euphemism?
dark_inchworm @ Apr 8th 2008 9:32AM
Sir, did you just misspell "choking"?
Joystick Hero @ Apr 8th 2008 10:17AM
In his defense, "chocking the wookie" also sounds like an euphemism.
Mr.ESC @ Apr 8th 2008 11:12AM
Well darkinchworm now you understand why he said sounds like.
"Spank the Ewok" also sounds like an euphemism.
Poisoned Al @ Apr 8th 2008 1:38PM
pfft, I'm dyslexic, and I honestly can't tell if it's spelled wrong. If it looks right and the spell checker says it's okay, I'll never know.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Apr 8th 2008 10:42PM
I strangle wookies three times a day.

ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Apr 8th 2008 10:42PM
*my wookie
"wookies" give it a whole new meaning.
Parsnipzilla @ Apr 8th 2008 7:47AM
At least being Vader makes more sense in this than Soul Calibre...
DeltaLoko @ Apr 8th 2008 8:22AM
Awesome
Ahab88 @ Apr 8th 2008 8:19AM
As if this game needed another selling point. It will already sell a gizillion copies. What a nice surprise it would have been to fire up the game and start watching the opening cut scene with Vader and then all of a sudden getting to play as him. I know why they ruined it, but I don't think they had to.
riggs @ Apr 8th 2008 8:37AM
it wouldve leaked out like snape killed dumbledore anyways
LaughingTarget @ Apr 8th 2008 9:33AM
Snape killed Dumbledore? You ruined it for all the people that can't/refuse to read. :P
Grey Acumen @ Apr 8th 2008 10:18AM
@laughing target - if they can't/refuse to read, then it's not a spoiler here, since they would have to read what he said for him to spoil it for them
Ahab88 @ Apr 8th 2008 10:39AM
well I managed not to be spoiled about Snape/Dumbledore or the ending for book 7 and I work in a bookstore where people are talking about books all the time. I have found that in order to be spoiled, I have to actively seek it out.
Mr.ESC @ Apr 8th 2008 11:16AM
Snape is a effing n00b,he kills kimself lol.Oh teh Spoiler.
capt_carl @ Apr 8th 2008 8:21AM
Man, and to think I was sold beforehand because I'm a Star Wars fan and I think the tech is impressive...
xFenixKnightx @ Apr 8th 2008 8:21AM

BEST GAME EVER!
dark_inchworm @ Apr 8th 2008 9:31AM
Opening moments do not sees. They see. :)
BlaznGoldstein @ Apr 8th 2008 10:26AM
The game's opening moments sees you taking control of Darth Vader and wreaking havoc, shortly before encountering your "secret apprentice."
Um, hate to be a grammar Nazi's grammar Nazi, but "sees" is the proper word to use here.
dark_inchworm @ Apr 8th 2008 5:34PM
"See" or "sees" is not in reference to "game" in the sentence. It is in reference to "scenes."
Plurals do not sees.
dark_inchworm @ Apr 8th 2008 5:36PM
Moments, rather. Not scenes. Whoops!
At least I'm not as dumb as you.
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Apr 8th 2008 6:25PM
This round goes to dark_inchworm.
dark_inchworm @ Apr 9th 2008 12:28PM
Achievement unlocked!
Perhaps I should not have been so harsh, though...
WiNG @ Apr 8th 2008 9:36AM
Playing as Vader during tutorial level < Playing as Vader in some kind of hardcore end-game level.
Mr Khan @ Apr 8th 2008 5:07PM
I think it works better, actually, Star Wars Canon is something that licensees take very seriously, so you cannot have Vader undertaking some sort of great struggle in the 19-year period between III & IV
Something small is just about all that he could do without wrecking Canon
Kweli @ Apr 8th 2008 9:39AM
I havent seen any light saber fights???
There was a Star Wars game that came out a few years ago that had the funnest light saber battles.... Jedi Knight????
Shmil (Brawl Code 2621-2310-1994) @ Apr 8th 2008 11:30AM
was it the episode 3 game from 2005?
That game was a simple hack'n'slash, but they had some interesting lightsaber duels
Kweli @ Apr 8th 2008 11:43AM
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Found it..... It was a FPS shooter similar to this game
Mr.ESC @ Apr 8th 2008 11:18AM
Sweet but um I think that guy is going to be killed at the end of the game.
Shmil (Brawl Code 2621-2310-1994) @ Apr 8th 2008 11:38AM
I'd assume so, unless he goes off to hide on a distant planet, never to be heard from again. Until a new series of books come out telling of his tales.
Deck @ Apr 8th 2008 11:28AM
This is going to be a successful game no matter if it is good or not. But I am REALLY hoping that the gameplay combat and what not turns out to be awesome!
ComicShaman @ Apr 8th 2008 11:32AM
Furthermore, if you hit Left-Right-Left-Up-Down-Up-O-X*, you can make Darth Vader throw his head back and howl: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Now that's what I call unleashing!
*Note: PlayStation versions only. This code is not yet confirmed.
SithLibrarian @ Apr 8th 2008 12:21PM
How awesome that the SA crushes an AT-ST into a ball
dgonchild @ Apr 8th 2008 5:43PM
I dont see what the big deal is, honestly.
emirabal @ Apr 8th 2008 1:29PM
Thats what im talking about
dark_inchworm @ Apr 8th 2008 5:36PM
Moments, rather. Not scenes. Whoops!
At least I'm not as dumb as you.
dark_inchworm @ Apr 8th 2008 5:37PM
Awesome. The flaws of the comments system have finally taken me.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Apr 8th 2008 10:46PM
I'd choke a wookie to get this game on PC.
Oozer @ Apr 9th 2008 12:05AM
Vanity Fair revealed this at least a month ago. I was very disappointed when this was the big announcement GameTrailers had on Spike. Here's the link to the VF article:

Busted for reading Vanity Fair!
Jeff @ Apr 9th 2008 1:21AM
Saying "Mr. Darth Vader" is about the same as saying "Mr. General Patraeus". The Mr. makes absolutely no sense.
But who cares, I can play as Mr. Vader! :D
Sidepocket @ Apr 9th 2008 11:45PM
Is is me, or is George Lucas intent is to tarnish the original reputation of Darth Vader killing all the jedi?
"Darth Vader killed all the Jedi...and the Storm Troopers did...and he was a wuss...and he had his apprentice do it....actually he only killed one....and he was crippled and distracted...."
WTF Lucas?
huntz @ Feb 26th 2009 1:44AM
The Jedi Knight Games had the use of force powers also all be it I am sure that I could not roll an AT-AT into a ball so it should be interesting to see how force powers work in The Force Unleashed. There was also some slight force power usage in a SNES series of Star Wars games but nothing like Jedi Knight.
