A company called Netblender is working on new technology that will allow enhanced communication between Blu-ray players and Apple handheld devices such as the iPhone. Dubbed BD Touch, this new tech will turn an iPhone into a remote control for Blu-ray players.
More interestingly, it will allow the device to interact directly with BD movies by: displaying extra movie info on the iPhone, maintain a database of your movie collection, and obtain digital copies of movies on a Blu-ray disc. This last feature sounds quite similar to Sony's very own portable copy. This makes us wonder if the new tech will be integrated into the PS3 or if it will only hit other Blu-ray players. A formal announcement regarding the new tech will be made tomorrow. We'll know soon enough then.

[Update: As expected, Netblender formally announced the tech today. BD Touch is supported by all Blu-ray players that have BD Live. This means your PS3 is all set. It will also work over any WiFi network worldwide -- good to know. Read up on the details here.]
