Misdirection isn't just for magicians anymore ... apparently Nintendo Power practices it too. While everyone was focused on the hints of a U.S. localized Final Fantasy IV DS in the magazine's ten-page cover feature on the game, no one seemed to notice that the game was listed with a "July" release date in that same issue's "Game Watch Forecast."
Well, no one except RPGFan.com, which then in turn got noticed by our own DSFanboy, which in turn got noticed by us so you fine readers can notice it for yourselves. This could just be a typo on Nintendo's part, but more likely it's a slip-up that reveals a release window a little earlier than Square-Enix would have liked. Either way, just another pebble on the growing mound of evidence that a localized version is coming.

Eh, I didn't like the FF6 N64 demo thing. I mean, it was great back in 1996 or 97 or whenever, but it would just suck today.

You'd be crazy if you didn't think this was coming over here when they first announced it.

In 2005.
And this is 3D (if that's relevant to your interests).

So? FF4 wasn't released that long before 6. Besides, FFVI DS wouldn't be out for a good few years anyway since they'd likely follow up with FFV DS first.

Whoops...misread that. I thought you were referring to VI and not IV.

If I were at Square Enix, I would re-release all the old Final Fantasy games on more recent systems. There were a ton of people that didn't have a chance to play them the first time around, and probably even more that would love to play them again with updated graphics and maybe some new content. We all know that the name Final Fantasy prints money better than just about any other in the market, except maybe WoW. They're already milking VII for all it's worth, short of a re-release, why not just stop teasing us and give us what we all want?

Aside from that, Konami needs to release Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 on the PS2 or PS3. I bet many here got into the franchise with Solid 1, and its prequels are just too technologically dated to play.
Yeah, Playstation is getting the shaft this generation, PSP only gets 2D remakes of FF1 and 2, whereas the DS gets 3D remakes of 3 and 4. But who could blame them for picking the DS over PSP? : (
And yeah, FF6 is the best FF!

I'm more interested in FFTA2.
I'm not sure if I can bring myself to play the third remake of a game I have already played to death. No matter how many bells and whistles you add to the game, it is still the same game I have played several times.

I am so glad I bought my wife her DS. When FFIII came out for the DS she hijacked mine for two weeks while she played that. Now I'm prepared. ;)

Well, since Squenix sets all their games at $40 retail, the actual release date for this game for me is about 2-3 months later when everybody sells their copy on ebay or cheapassgamer posts a sweet deal.
Seriously, $40? No.

Despite having been alive for each of its releases and even owning the PSone version, I haven't played the game. Looking forward to the DS re-re-release.
