EA previously had the entire month of May blocked off for the release of its Steven Spielberg collaboration Boom Blox. They put a finer point on things during a presentation at Nintendo's Media Summit in San Francisco today, knocking 30 blocks off their May calendar, leaving a proud May 6th standing tall. We'll be checking out the game in, what we can only assume is, a near final state and have our impressions up as soon as we can, okay?

This is one of the few games on the WSM that has me intrigued. If I knew of anyone with a WSM, I would check this game out.
Ironic that a company known for re-hashes and shoddy software along with a movie director are the ones who come up with a NEW IP that makes (apparently) good use of the Wagglemote.

The tone of the comment is what separates a rational poster from a knuckle-dragging troll, in many cases

Vegeta,
If it bothers you that much, close your eyes when you see WSM. Or better yet, go beat up the soccermom who asked the clerk at the Best Buy I was at "do you have that We Sports Machine? You know, the one that has that tennis game."
So you see Veg...can I call you Veg? It is the masses of lemmings that call your beloved Wii the WiiSports Machine....you know, the one that plays that bowling game.

It was an interesting turnaround, we all (me too) assumed that Boom Blox would be more Wii shovelware, while Spielberg's PS360 project would be some sort of awesome, artistic statement, now this game is actually lookin' pretty tight, and the other project has, for all intents and purposes, ceased to exist

I bet in 10 years Spielberg will digitally replace all the wiimotes with walkie talkies.

What do you think I am, dense? Off yourself.
I'm just surprised that they waited until it was this close to release to announce it.

It's been announced for months. We've played it. They just announced a *release date*. That is all.

We've all known for a hell of a while that Spielberg was working with EA on a handful of projects. Even looking through Joystiq's archives, there's no mention of the "Boom Blox" name or concept at all until last December, and there wasn't even an official announcement until February.
What I was trying to express is that I found it surprising there was such a short turnaround between announcing it and releasing it. (YES, I know development was enacted long beforehand) You get used to seeing titles like SSBB, Starcraft II, and such being revealed and then teasing us for months, even years.
Not that anticipation for Boom Blox was killing me...
