Readers pick best webcomic: Make it double
That initial glitch in the webcomic wrapup polling didn't affect the final vote. VG Cats' Poké-strip (as in comic strip and not ... eww) was given the rather dubious award for week's best game-related webcomic with quadruple (make it quadruple!) the vote of second place.
Runners up include Dueling Analogs and Digital Unrest, respectively. Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Best comic VGcats has done in years!
I'm Tripping balls!!! Ask Oak!

Years? That's a hell of a stretch... but it is the best VGCats strip in a couple o' weeks.
ZenGaijin @ Apr 10th 2008 12:41PM
The last one I enjoyed this much was the one with Dr Light and Megaman.

The last one that made me lol a lot were #246: Left Behind.
capt_carl @ Apr 10th 2008 12:37PM
I'm not even a fan of the game series (let alone the show), but I let out a rather healthy lol when I read this comic.
McWeen @ Apr 10th 2008 12:37PM
VGcats updates so infrequently, but when this kind of comedy gold drops it is so worth the wait.
Phil @ Apr 10th 2008 12:57PM
Yeah, it is a bit of a bummer but at least the infrequent updates typically means epic lol when they do.
Unlike Penny Arcade, they can only post so many without having ones that are 'meh' in terms of humor.
McWeen @ Apr 10th 2008 1:07PM
The problem that befalls most game/nerd webcomics are that you must know the subject matter to get the joke. I bet kids that started playing video games in the last generation would be baffled as to what old penny arcades are even talking about.
dark_inchworm @ Apr 10th 2008 2:18PM
Downvote me if you wish, but... Penny Arcade blows. Period.
VGCats and Perry Bible Fellowship. That's all I need.
A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Apr 10th 2008 2:36PM
I like VGcats comics, but Penny Arcade has such brilliant writing that i can't help but prefer it. Jerry ranks as one of my favorite writers, Scott probably isn't even on the list.
Jansperus @ Apr 10th 2008 12:44PM
Really? You thought that was good? I don't know, maybe it's just me, but there are way too many inaccuracies and omissions regarding the Pokéverse for me to find that humorous. But then again, maybe it takes the eyes of a Pokémaster to see them.

Rollins @ Apr 10th 2008 1:13PM
For whatever reason, I have very rarely found VG Cats funny. They all seem too...obvious.
Yes, Ash has been followed by Team Rocket for years and they still want his Pikachu. And yes, he has a lot of Pokemon. So? That in and of itself doesn't make a joke. They don't seem to have punchlines so much as they simply illustrate some quirky situations in games with their stupid-looking characters.
StrangeBum @ Apr 10th 2008 1:45PM
I believe they call that observational-humor. The reason it's funny is because of it's truths and obviousness. It's not intended to have some sort of punch-line.
But I'm by no means a comedy expert. And I can't tell you that you're wrong just based on opinions. It's just not for everyone I guess.
A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Apr 10th 2008 2:38PM
Observational or not, humour is always best when it's subtle.
Rollins @ Apr 10th 2008 7:30PM
Exactly, Gamer.
Paul P. @ Apr 10th 2008 1:25PM
VGCats is a terrible webcomic.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 10th 2008 1:35PM
I could not disagree more with this statement. If you'd said "Penny Arcade" instead, I might have understood.
Paul P. @ Apr 10th 2008 2:38PM
Both Penny Arcade and VGCats are terrible webcomics. The only good video game based webcomic is Nintendo Super Squad, which is now over.
whiny bitch @ Apr 10th 2008 1:39PM
I do not understand this comic.
Then again, I don't know a damned thing about Pokemon.
Cero @ Apr 10th 2008 1:59PM
There are people who don't understand this. I get that. Allow me to enlighten you.
The joke wasn't that Ash was being chased all this time. The joke wasn't that Ash has a lot of Pokemon. The joke isn't even that they want what's his; it's just what they do. What IS the joke is that they only revised their 'motto' in the D&P season, and even that was old when it was new.
Since we can all agree that the Team Rocket 'motto', old and new, is so goddamned annoying, Mr. Ramsoomair must have come to the consensus that Ash is so annoyed by it that he'd turn over Pikachu just to get them to shut up and go away. Personally, I'd have the cops take him to a maximum security prison that isn't made of cardboard or just give 'em the ol' electric chair.
God knows the only smart one of the duo wants to do that by now (and by duo I don't mean Team Rocket).
Scott Smith @ Apr 10th 2008 2:18PM
My friends from Supafine made a gaming comic: http://www.supafine.com/comics/classic.php?comicID=120
They never make any gaming comics and I thought this one was pretty shweet.
MNC Dover @ Apr 10th 2008 4:10PM
The VGCats strip was great and deserved to win. At some point I'd lose my mind to and just hand over one of my dozen Pikachu.
Although it's only minutely game related, here's the Monday Night Crew strip this week:

I as well thought the VG Cats was funny. I used to rush home every day after school to watch that show.
Here's the better of the 'of Noobs and Men' strips that came out this week:
