Revamped PlayStation Store goes live April 15 [updated]
The store revamp will be facilitated by enhanced firmware (version 2.30) and should mark the return of weekly content updates which have been absent since April 3rd. Once the more user-friendly interface is up and running, PS3 owners will be able to download fun things like Warhawk's Broken Mirror expansion and the 'Still Alive' DLC for Rock Band.

I really disliked the web based store.

"...I see something about the Playstation Store my first thought is always, "Oh, they're selling stuff online?"
But doesn't the 360 and Wii both sale things online? So what's so different about the Playstation store?
Whenever I see WiiWare I start laughing my ass off.
Now, about that XMB messaging and chat...
I remember hearing on the 1up Yours interview with MS's Aaron Greenberg that they're also looking at revamping the XBLM interface, so that's good news for 360 owners too.
Can't wait to try this out though. I hated the old design of the PSN store.
While it's a cool idea to sell games online, since they take up so much space nobody would have enough room for more than a few games, especially the 20GB owners and even the 40B owners to some extent. Considering each Blu-Ray disc holds 50 GB, more than the size of my hard drive in my 40 GB PS3, they can't ever sell games that fill up an entire disc online, and they can't expect everyone to upgrade to larger hard drives because a lot of people don't have the technical prowess required to even just change a hard drive (considering you have to have another external drive, formatted to FAT 32, to back up and restore from if you want to save your current data) and most people don't want to spend more money on a hard drive to save games onto, then pay for the game, when they can just spend the money on the game on a disc. Basically I don't see this system working for PS3 games, but for PSX games it's not a bad idea, considering you can't find a lot of PSX games today and they certainly don't carry them at your local Target/Wal-Mart/whatever. But Microsoft is doing the same thing with their Xbox originals, so it's kind of a moot point there.
What are talking about? Sony already offers full games for download online and none of them are 40GB. Who wants to download a 40GB game. GT Prologue is 1.9GB, Warhawk is least than a Gig and Tekken DR Online is about a Gig. That's three full games all under 2 gigs.
I don't know that I'd go so far as to call those examples "full games"...
That last line should read "That's three full games for under 2 Gig's a piece"
Thank you.

The fact is that every update they make only moves them closer and closer to what MS are already doing with the Xbox360, its just taking forever to get there when they could have started off right in the first place.
The first thing I thougt when I heard about the store update was...THANK GOODNESS!!! I'm sick of searching forever on the playstation store just to find a frickin' wallpaper or game video, or whatever. Basically if you didn't get something as soon as it hit the store, it was nearly impossible to find without a good 15-20 minutes of searching.
Now, when I actually got to see the pictures of the update, the first thing I thought was, reminds me of the marketplace on my Xbox360...THANK GOODNESS!!!
Sony, don't be ashamed to copy MS if they're doing something better than you, true gamers don't care who did what first, as long as it makes gaming easier for them. And making your store and online service more like the Xbox360 with definitely improve things for PS3 gamers.
