Spitzer wins GamePolitics' biggest political hypocrite poll
GamePolitics had a pretty sweet idea this week when it polled readers on who they thought the biggest political hypocrite is when it comes to the games industry. Was it Boston's Mayor Menino, who's seeking to pass a "games as porn" bill while trying to woo developers to the city; or perhaps California's Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger who... well, look at the man's career! Nope, the winner, by a wide margin, was New York's disgraced former governor Eliot Spitzer.
Spitzer wins the poll for actions like attacking Grand Theft Auto and making sensationalist statements like, "Children can even simulate having sex with a prostitute." Meanwhile, the governor was doing more than simulating when he played the role of Client 9 to a high-priced prostitution service. It's still as delicious to write now as it was a month ago.

- Spitzer: 45.7%

- MP Keith Vaz: 9.3%
- Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius: 4.6%

Ahhh Spitzer. Well I voted for him over on their poll, he really does top the hypocrisy meter.

Man, that meter is PEGGED.

Not trying to defend Spitzy, but attacking GTA for letting children have sex with a prostitute and then himself having sex with one isn't hypocritical. If he had attacked GTA for letting adults simulate sex with prostitutes, that would by hypocritical.
DemonGSides @ Apr 10th 2008 10:34PM
But the funny thing is, he has the mentality of a child to believe that he could get away with it.
3cubed minus 3squared plus1 @ Apr 10th 2008 10:47PM
He's hypocritical because he was trying to shut down prostitution circles all around New York while he was involved in one himself.

Just to set the record straight, these were some of Spitzer's major accomplishments:
# Enforced prevailing wage laws, and through these actions, millions of dollars in back wages were collected.
# Investigated and prosecuted violators of wage and hour laws, winning millions in back pay and overtime pay for working New Yorkers.
# Enforced minimum wage laws and launched an awareness and enforcement campaign for the increase in the state minimum wage.
# Prosecuted employers who ran sweatshops, resulting in a jail sentence and fine for the employer and the recovery of back wages.
# Stood up to big pharmaceutical companies, requiring them to fully disclose information on drugs that could have been harming our children.
# Established a landmark “Code of Conduct” to improve workplace conditions and curtail labor violations in the green grocer industry.
3cubed's a liar because there's no evidence that Spitzer went on moral crusades against prostitution.
So if you really want to know the definition of hypocrisy, ask yourself if knowing who Spitzer sticks his dick in has anything to do with your quality of life. Now, there are a few thousand State workers here in NY who can attest that his accomplishments have had real benefits on their lives. Fuck this puritanical bullshit -- it's all "polishing the brass on the Titanic," as they say.
This idiocracy deserves it fate.

StrangeBum @ Apr 10th 2008 11:00PM

All of these politicians can kiss my ass. Istead of spending time on the REAL issues like the economy, homelessness, education, child abuse, getting the FRAK out of the Wars that Dubya started, SKYROCKETING fuel prices, and on and on and on....NO, they spend countless hours and millions of taxpayers money on this McCarthy style WITCH HUNT of BULL SHIT.
Meanwhile, a religious group RAPES and forces children to have sex with old men and it take authorities FOUR years to finally do something about it.
WHERE WAS the outcry to stop this? They are more concerned with virtual crimes on a TV screen vs. REAL crimes.
Frak em all.
Fuck it all, fuck this world, fuck everything that you stand for...dont belong, dont exist, dont give a shit dont you EVER judge me!!!

ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Apr 11th 2008 12:21AM
Who wants to develop a game based on Spitzer?
Petey @ Apr 11th 2008 1:08AM
How about "Grand Theft America"? A sandbox game where you rise through the political ranks... mayor, state legislator, attorney general, governor, US Rep., US Senator, VP, President. Missions include fundraising, running for office, staying in office, and running for higher office through graft, corruption, lies, etc. And of course, there are the side quests of starting wars to enrich your friends, seducing interns, call girls, etc. without getting caught.

We'd need to purchase licensing for that.

He's got to be one of the most harmless politicians out there. ZOMG HE HAS SEX WITH ADULT WOMEN!! That's a hell of a lot better than the (R)'s and their 'think of the children' bills while they molest their own preteen sons and daughters.

First of all, if your name is a reference to great ska band Big D and The Kids Table then kudos.
Second of all, you're right. This guy actually did a lot of great things for New York> I don't feel too bad for him but it's funny how the bad things people do overshadow the good things people do by so much in the world.
Finally, the most awful thing about this is that everyone is so concerned about this guy railing a prostitute when our President and his cabinet are taking away our civil liberties everyday. We should compare press time to each of these issues and then wonder why our country is going to hell in a handcart.
