Damnit, Brian now Hsu. I'll be sad to see both this dudes leave. If Shaun leaves, game over.

He is getting some much needed time off right before Grand Theft Auto 4 ships.

Coincidence?

I think not...

It's hard to believe because he's been around so long, but it makes sense with the craziness going on at EGM right now. He's a viable professional (as much as there is such a thing in his professions) and I'm sure he'll land on his feet.

I definitely have to agree with those calling the magazine thin. I remember going to the newstand when I was 10 or 11 to buy the magazine (even when Bubsy was on the cover- yuck). Those mags were thick! I know there's a ton of info online, but you gotta bulk up those magazines with exclusives instead of ads if you want to bulk up the reader base EGM!!

Ziff Davis announced today that Dan "Shoe" Hsu, former editor-in-chief of Electronic Gaming Monthly, will be leaving Ziff Davis "to pursue personal interests." Site
---------
You mean like.. playing video games? This guy has no personal interests.

@ Hashbrown Hunter

I guess you hit to close to home with that one ... Synner is a hateful asshole so I wouldn't worry about him for anything except maybe your receipt at a toll booth ...

Said Hsu, "I'd drag EGM down with me or quit before we compromise our integrity."

Ha ha. I guess both eventually came true.

Sorry Pal but you have me confused with someone else ... You know just as well as I do you are a hateful asshole ... If you are as hateful and condescending in real life as you are on this site than I guarantee you are a lonely sad individual ... Drop the tough guy image and the insults and get some maturity ... You would be surprised where a little humility will get you in life ...

This just doesn't make sense. How is it that an industry that seems to have no bounds and is growing at a epidemic level, continues to loose good journalist and magazines who cover it?

I knew something wasn't right with Shoe's "promotion" the moment I saw it. Then I got more disturbed as I watched EGM personel deflect questions from readers about their new "A-B-C..." game ratings system. And as someone already mentioned, the magazine has been getting thinner and thinner lately, with less and less good stuff to be found.

The one bright spot for me though was always reading Shoe's editorial. Then we lost that. Now he's gone from there completely. Man...

One good thing is coming out of this though, I was JUST (like this morning) about to mail in my resubscription for 2 more years. I...think I might go back and white out that 2 year box and just do the one year for now...

...you know...just to see if EGM actualy last that long.

Dark days for gaming journalism...dark days...
