Mafia II. Surprising no one outside of the most hopeful and delusional Wii fans, it has been confirmed that the depicted 1950s environment is intended for the Xbox 360, PC (Games for Windows), and PlayStation 3. The dev dons at the recently formed
2K Czech also offered up some new screenshots for our gallery below. Obviously, we couldn't refuse.

"Surprising no one outside of the most hopeful and delusional Wii fans, it has been confirmed that the 1950s environments glimpsed in earlier images were intended for the Xbox 360, PC (Games for Windows), and PlayStation 3."
This sentence hurt my brain.
Noam Chomsky @ Apr 11th 2008 4:13PM
Yeah broseph reading is a bitch
Noam Chomsky @ Apr 11th 2008 4:15PM
I will play 9th grade grammar, teacher, for joystiq and inform, them that they forgot a comma right, after environments and another after, images.
Feel, free to hire, me at any time.
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Apr 11th 2008 4:41PM
Alright, I hope it's better now. Noam, what's up with your grammar? It's like someone edited your comment and randomly inserted commas out of spite. ;)
Noam Chomsky @ Apr 11th 2008 5:10PM
It would appear that way.
I guess what they say is true; you really don't need to be all that great of a writer to write for a blog!
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Apr 11th 2008 5:31PM
And as you've just demonstrated, you don't really need more than a single sentence to judge someone on the internet! Take care, friend.
Ken Seang @ Apr 11th 2008 4:14PM
You know I still have not finish the first game, have to do so soon before this is out... Yea and it is a great game too.
Haggard @ Apr 11th 2008 5:02PM
Mafia was probably the best game I've ever played in terms of story and atmosphere. I expect great things of this one.
EMOruffino @ Apr 11th 2008 4:17PM
reminds me of my homeland. :p
ApolloIV @ Apr 11th 2008 4:21PM
They really need to get with the times on cars. That can't be very healthy for the environment
Mr.ESC @ Apr 11th 2008 4:57PM
Liberty City?
EMOruffino @ Apr 11th 2008 5:09PM
so you were in my dreams too.... 0_o
Poisoned Al @ Apr 11th 2008 5:13PM
At a guess, I would say Cuba.
Mr.ESC @ Apr 11th 2008 6:30PM
o-O?! Please tell me I was wearing pants in your dream.
EMOruffino @ Apr 11th 2008 7:44PM
pants? no no, i think they were shorts...
markhill66 @ Apr 11th 2008 4:23PM
I played all the way through Mafia on PS2 and Godfather on the Wii, and I think Mafia was a better game. I'll definitely play this one (on 360).
playwhutyalike @ Apr 12th 2008 11:23PM
I will too. The one thing I didn't like about the Godfather was that the enviroments seemed so small, and limited. Yeah, it was open exploration, but it seemed so constricting to me.
LaughingTarget @ Apr 11th 2008 4:26PM
This is totally offensive to Italian Americans and portrays them all as evil mobsters that only want to launder money and mow down people with Thompson machine guns.
/sarcasm
EihBeir @ Apr 11th 2008 4:38PM
Call N'Gai. He's on a racism trip. I'm sure he'll back you up.
WiiSports Machine...Fernandos in disguise PSN: Killjebus @ Apr 11th 2008 5:04PM
Nicely done.
I lost alot of respect for N'Gai on his bitching about RE5. Is not Africa predominently home to Negroes? Where was he in GTA3 where you were mostly shooting other white people? What about RE1 and 2?
Hypocritical asshole.
This game looks very good. Course screenshots dont mean much but still, should be a good one.
HighFiveJesus @ Apr 11th 2008 5:07PM
Is it wrong to steal a loaf of bread to feed your starving family? What if you have a big family and you have to steal a truckload of bread? But, what if your family doesn't like bread... they like cigarettes? AND what if, instead of giving them away, you sold them at a price that was practically giving them away? Is that really a crime?
I'll be enjoying this game as much as the first heehee.
t_m @ Apr 12th 2008 10:52AM
Glad to see none of you actually READ his comments..which were balanced, well thought out, DIDN'T blame racism, or do anything else you mentioned. Sigh.
KeenCommander @ Apr 11th 2008 5:14PM
See, PC release. It is possible. GTA4 should take notes.
jcd @ Apr 11th 2008 5:20PM
I played the through the first one, I did not like it, so yeah, whatever
HighFiveJesus @ Apr 11th 2008 5:35PM
If you played it on console, yeah it was craptacular. On PC, they did everything right.
born2expire @ Apr 11th 2008 6:21PM
Of course this game is coming for PC, Illusion is a PC dev after all. at least the console verisons wont be shotty ports this time, as long as they dont consolize the PC version. God i hope they keep in the traffic laws, ect and dont pull them out make it more like GTA.
mafia was one of the best games of all time, i need to bust that out again.
Trismegistos @ Apr 11th 2008 9:19PM
Mafia was one of the best games that I have ever played.
The atmosphere was second to none. The graphics, musical score and story were truly amazing.
There were some (fair few) bugs. But overall the experience was almost on par with GTA 3 Vice City.
One of the problems was that the city was a bit sparse and one dimensional. Apart from that it was tops.
I'm as eager about Mafia II as I am about GTA4
Haon @ Apr 12th 2008 10:13AM
Mafia sure was one of the best open world types out there. I played the crap out of the pc version. I even downloaded that tc mod that updated everything to modern times. I got distracted by some other games but never got around to it though. I also never understood how so many people had a problem with that race mission. It was pretty easy.
Tim The Enchanter @ Apr 12th 2008 11:23AM
Wow, this looks amazing... I love the mood too. Sold!
And Ludwig, I understood what you were saying. I'm just glad I also own a 360 :P
I Love Bowser @ Apr 12th 2008 12:39PM
This game belongs in the 1930s. Or 1940s.
AlfaMike @ Apr 14th 2008 3:10AM
Ah the 50s works. There was plenty of mob action in the 50s and the cars were better then, too.
