No preorder needed, Metal Gear Online beta open in Europe

While North America is used to getting things early, it looks like European Metal Gear fans will get the last comically exaggerated laugh after all (really, stop laughing, we get it). After a brief mention in a SCEE press release, Konami has confirmed that the "Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta will be available as a free download on the PlayStation Store" from April 17th to May 6th ... in Europe.

Just so we're clear, Europeans don't need to pre-order Metal Gear Solid 4 to get into the beta and they'll be sneaking from April 21st through May 6th, while North American gamers will only be snapping necks from April 21st through May 5th, a full day shorter? Coupled with the Limited Edition limitation, those of us in North America are feeling a bit unloved, Konami ... now we know how Raiden feels every day of his life.

SCEA should announce this for the US 2day.

Raiden wasnt all that bad. he was a character in the story. i know must people hated him but common was he really that bad.

and good for them. they deserve something after always getting shitted on by every gaming company. Sony knows how to take care of the people over in europe. Free plasma t.v's on launch day. skype with go!cam & Gps. and now metal gear beta a full day longer than most.

maybe SCEA will get off their luxury office chairs and start making stuff happen for us too

I'm American, but I can honestly say Europe gets ripped off a lot. I'm glad to see that there is a little Euro love gettin around in the gaming world.

And the Europeans always complain that they get shafted in releases and whatnot. Yeah right.

Possibly because *normally* we are? Look at the poor PSN updates, the comical overpricing of games (Rock Band, I'm looking at you, and there's not even a PS3 release date set yet). We have many rights to complain about Sony in Europe.

This is a rare occurrence where Europe doesn't get the shaft from SCEE.

I am guessing that they made it open since Europe has the least amount of PS3 users in the world, next to Australia, and they want to have a good test run on the beta world-wide. Should be good times had by all.

Good god I'm so happy! Was getting worried that I wouldn't get to play it in Europe. :D Now if only KONAMI could bring the limited edition to one of our European Stores as well, pretty please with sugar on top? ^_^

Really.. after seeing how much those codes are being sold on ebay... I would just give them out for free as well. you're not suppose to make money off it... and take a LOT of reserve that you don't plan on buying

I live in north africa,I normally connect to the European server to play online and I visit the european store,does that mean i can participate in MGO beta ??

It takes ages to download, patch and sign up. Took over 3 hours for me and i have be internet.
