Some NIN, Halo and Dustin's beautiful voice. Fridays can't be much better. Well...If I had some Mountain Dew then that might change.

The audio in that video sucks! DUSTIN: TALK LOUDER!!!
I can barely understand you, and if I turn up the volume, the music is too loud.

You are correct and your ears do not deceive. The audio levels are not up to par and, for that, I apologize. Blame it on the stupid editing/recording software. If it bothers you though, just mute your speakers and take in all the visual goodness. Problem (almost) solved!

The main problem with all these videos of the maps are that people keep cutting from one area to another. With the exception of blackout, which most of us are familiar enough with to figure it out, cutting to one place makes me lose my bearings, and doesn't really show what the map is like very well.
What we need is a simple video of someone playing a round on each map with the camera focused on a single player the whole time, and a gametype that necessitates traversing a large amount of the map (team slayer, two flag, etc). Do that on each map and people can see how a map plays instead of just taking in the aesthetics. Anyone agree?

Also, about the forge filters...are those applied to the whole map or part of the map?

ghost town looks like it could be a CoD4 map. and that is a very good thing for Halo 3 maps. :D

So, are they worth the buy and which map pack is better, the CoD map pack or this one.

the map pack that works the best for you. do you play H3 or Cod4 more?
for me, i woulda ate these up months ago. but CoD4 is just faster and funner to me.

Since I don't have faith in e-mail, I'm going to post my unrelated complaint here:
Why is it when I receive an e-mail (oh wait, ironic, heh) about someone replying to my post the link (e.g. http://xbox.joystiq.com/2008/04/10/fallout-3-begins-with-birth-ends-any-of-500-ways/comments/11566024/) is more or less nonfunctional. Oddly enough, if I remove part of the link, it becomes useful (e.g. removing "/comments/11566024/").
Seems like it'd be simple to fix, and doing so would cure my OCD-anger.
Back on topic...
I dugg the video despite the audio levels.

Dustin, first and foremost thank you for putting this together. I do have a criticism that I hope is constructive for your next effort; please try to keep the edits to a minimum for a subject like new maps. The current piece is more a moving montage of new screenshots than a dissection or overview, and I would prefer a more cohesive tour of the overall geometry. Instead of describing Sidewinder as a horseshoe, you could show it to us by a (time-compressed) aerial pass from one base to another. For a map like lockout, you could move throughout the entire map and return to your starting point touching every area, showing how different areas are connected. I do appreciate the pauses to show off detail work (e.g. the frosted windows and basketball court); these elements would enhance a more sedate walkthrough.

I was really disappointed to find that the Lockout window is gone. I never really noticed until you pointed it out to me, but I definitely remember it being a highlight of that map for oddball strategy. Then again, that was probably because you could nab it through the floor at that point in time, heh.

For those looking for more cohesive footage, Gametrailers had gameplay videos in HD - good footage, too.

Haha I love the song at the beginning, from NIN's Ghosts I-IV album. funny how as I watched this my physical copy of the album came in the mail, and the fact that one of the maps is called GHOST Town. I got a chuckle out of that. Great job, thanks Dustin!
