Observify this spectaculous new trailer for 2K's Prizefighter
26
We know that 2K Sports' upcoming stab at the world of professional pugilism, Don King Presents: Prizefighter, is the only official video game endorsed by the titular, wispy-haired promoter -- which is a damn shame, if you ask us. Far too often, incredible games fly under the radar of the mainstream commercial market -- if only Ubisoft had the foresight to release Don King Presents: Beyond Good & Evil, and let the world's second greatest hype man work his magic. "You'll be photographizing and pulverizing alien baddies with astonishing robustitude!"
Alas, 2K was the only developer intelligent enough to cash in on the boxing bigwig -- and it looks like they've got a game to back up the King's boasts. Sure, it's not as pretty as Fight Night Round 3, but with fast-paced brawling and training sequences that hearken back to the beloved Ready 2 Rumble series, we're filled with anticipationalism to step into the ring come June 10.

All I had remembered from that commercial was that the DS was going to have a boxing game.

Looks awesome ... I like the training and building your fighter up from nothing ... Hopefully they include the same face mapping technology that Tiger Woods on had ... I love boxing and I always will but I also crave for a next generation MMA fighting game ... It does not have to be UFC it could be Elite XC or any other combination of organizations ... Anyway, this boxing game looks great but it needs to have fighters from the spectrum of weight classes including young fighters like David Haye, Andre Berto, Chad Dawson and Ronald Hearns. We even need up and coming amateur/ early professional fighters like Fernando Guerrero & Bryon Tyson. In my mind its not enough to have Roy jones Jr, Witali Klitchsko, Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather, Joe Calzaghe, Kelly Pavlik , Jermaine Taylor and on and on and on. We need a boxing game with more than a handful of fighters. I want a game that has about 20 boxers from each weight class and just like real boxing we need multiple belts from the multiple governing bodies. I would also like a large amount of top notch trainers like freddy roach, emmanuel stewart, buddy mcgirt and on and on and on. I do like the fact that Jim Lampley is the commentator in the game because he is one of the best in the business. We also need guys like Lennox Lewis, Max Kellerman, Brian Bernstein and even guest announcers like a Roy Jones Jr or guest correspondance by people like Brian Kenny and Bert Sugar. I know what I am asking for is pretty dramatic but I think if done right it could be the best boxing game ever made. I would never play a game like facebreaker over a simulation game like prizefighter. I prefer simulation games when it comes to things I like in real life (sports, racing etc).
You never see football, baseball or basketball games that are missing 90% of the athletes. This is because the have Players unions and can make a deal with the manufacturer/developer of the video game to include everyone in the players union in the video game. In fact, this is why a few years ago there were players not in baseball video games. A few years back (10 or so) when there was a players strike and the owners had replacement players some of the players that crossed over the picket line to play were not allowed to join the players union afterwards. There are other various reasons but the problem with a boxing game is these athletes are not bound by an sort of union or governing body so the maker of the game has to negotiate the ability to use a boxers likeness on a case by case basis.

The only way to figure out which boxing game is better, Fight Night or Prizefighter. Is to get the Burger King and Don King in the ring.

Prizefighter sucked for the Sega CD, and was one of the worst games ever made.
Don King is the king of slimy douche baggery.
The poor graphics certainly don't make up for the Don King endorsement or Prizefighter's embarrassing legacy.
This game will suck hard.

Looks promising. The training games don't look as bad as Fight Night's. It even looks like they will try to incorporate footwork and slipping, but the way they are presenting it, it may be a gimmick.

I'm entirely confused by Donald's remark. I know the phrase blown into oblivion but don't know what exactly he's referencing.
