Fallout 3 Collector's Edition sounds delightful
Did you know that it was scientifically possible to desire Fallout 3 more than you already do? We didn't until this morning when we saw the (unconfirmed by Bethesda) listing for the collector's edition of it at Gamestop. For $70, you'll get a Vault Boy Bobblehead doll, a hardcover book of art and a behind-the-scenes DVD. Oh, and the whole thing comes in a metal Vault-Tec lunch box. Yes. Please.
There's also a date for the game of October 7, but that could just be an estimate. As far as we're concerned (thanks in part to today's announcement) the official date for Fallout 3 is "Not even close to soon enough."

Is this collector's edition exclusive to Gamestop?
Deck @ Apr 14th 2008 11:12AM
Better not be exclusive to Gamestop!
As for the lunch box... hell yes! Like the $70 price point to, I will be picking this up for sure!
Sir Fidlious Wong (Zeon Defense Force) @ Apr 14th 2008 11:13AM
Yeah, people need to start paying attention. This is how you make a collectors edition worth it. Between this, GTA, and MGS4, it's turning into a good year for gaming geeks.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 14th 2008 11:16AM
What are you talking about? The MGS4 collector's edition sucks. Especially when compared to their previous special editions.
GTA, that's a different story.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Zeon Defense Force) @ Apr 14th 2008 11:22AM
Artbook and imported soundtrack = win for me.
I mean, seriously, hop on www.play-asia.com and look at the average price of an imported game soundtrack.
Maverick Saturn @ Apr 14th 2008 11:32AM
And metal coloured PS3 for some people :)
baby sea tuna @ Apr 14th 2008 1:10PM
If you consider the PS3 Pack as a Special Edition, then yeah, I'd consider that. The one that comes with a soundtrack (I'm pretty sure there's no art book included)? Not so much.
Vince @ Apr 14th 2008 11:13AM
is there a PC version of this?
Yuccadude @ Apr 14th 2008 1:29PM
Tags: PC, Xbox 360, Sony Playstation 3.
So, yes.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 14th 2008 11:14AM
Me wantee.
NATO_Duke @ Apr 14th 2008 11:24AM
This is one of the better collectors editions I have seen. Bravo!
Jeeves915 @ Apr 14th 2008 11:26AM
I don't THINK it's exclusive to Gamestop. I pre-ordered my collectors editon from Amazon, which you can find here.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016BVYDY
Amazon Prime FTMFW!
mrlogical @ Apr 14th 2008 11:56AM
Thanks, I put in a preorder last week with EBgames thinking it might be exclusive, because at the time Amazon didn't have a listing yet. I too love the Amazon Prime, so now I have canceled my EB/Gamestop order.
Ninjakamster @ Apr 14th 2008 11:26AM
I loved playing Fallout 1/2 back in 98/99. Keep playing both games occasionally each year since.
I'm just really worried about this game, its a shame the original developers aren't working on it and it isn't set in the West Coast like the previous two. : (
Maverick Saturn @ Apr 14th 2008 11:34AM
Fallout Half? When did this release? :)
Hot$auce_Magik @ Apr 14th 2008 11:35AM
I've gotten over any fear of this game coming up sub-par. I don't have a problem with who develops it, or where it takes place. The real question the comes into play is....
XB360, PS3 or PC???
How the hell am I ever going to make that decision? Please god let there be a clear cut better version....
GRANTED @ Apr 14th 2008 11:52AM
i am psyched for this even more since i live in DC. i cant wait to trod through the neighborhoods i'm familiar with, shrouded in post apocalyptic wreckage. a random west coast setting can't compare.
NATO_Duke @ Apr 14th 2008 12:02PM
"XB360, PS3 or PC???"
Don't worry - we'll all be fighting over that issue for months to come.
Maverick Saturn @ Apr 14th 2008 11:33AM
I'll preorder soon, ah need to raise de funds :P
jsutcliffe @ Apr 14th 2008 11:43AM
Holy crap, want.
That's the first collector's ed. I've ever been interested in.
Courtney @ Apr 14th 2008 11:51AM
Yeah, this is definitely the first Collector's Edition I've ever coveted.
Mike @ Apr 14th 2008 12:05PM
Looks like this will be the first collectors edition I will actually be buying since...ever.
ZippyDSMlee @ Apr 14th 2008 12:54PM
Sorry I m not buying into the hype, I'll wait till I play it for 5 hours befor I buy in, bioshock burned me bad.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 14th 2008 1:17PM
:o
Really? You are definitely in the minority there.
ZippyDSMlee @ Apr 14th 2008 1:22PM
baby sea tuna
I iz alwayz alonez :P
But really tho bioshock pc reminded me why I do not pay retail anymore, overly hype is one being broken out of the box is 2nd, so i will wait and see how it is.
Dan @ Apr 14th 2008 1:49PM
His head is exploding with excitement. :P
Kayel @ Apr 14th 2008 3:15PM
Considering the social sacrifices we'll be making to play this game for hundreds of hours, that lunch box better come with a thermos too!
Please?
XLM @ Apr 14th 2008 3:21PM
Huge fan. Cautiously optimistic about Bethesda's handling of this.
Slightly concerned with the artwork on the linked Gamestop page. Those line of people heading into the vault remind me of how god awful many of the characters looked in Oblivion (not to mention the loading screen artwork that looked like Napolian Dynamite drew it).
Pimliconite @ Apr 15th 2008 10:52AM
This actually looks pretty decent. A lot of "Collector's Editions" lately have been "remember when you used to get a big cardboard box full of big manuals and stuff? Now we're charging you $70 for it SUCKERS!"
But this is actually a nice package. Still, I want the lunchbox more than the game at this point :)
PojoMofo @ Apr 14th 2008 4:03PM
pencil me in for a PS3 version!!
rainking187 @ Apr 14th 2008 4:05PM
I just feel it's worth mentioning that only the PC CE is $70, the PS3 and 360 ones are $80.
KiraXD @ Apr 14th 2008 4:15PM
omg i havent laughed so hard at a joystiq picture/caption in a long long time... just thinking about the head explosion from dwelling on the awesomeness of a collectible lunchbox makes me laugh... well done.
LaughingTarget @ Apr 14th 2008 4:18PM
Bobblehead = Cool
Lunchbox = Freaking awesome
Art book = Meh
Behind the scenes = This garbage should be free, it doesn't cost anything to make
Final tally = One of the few collector's editions I'll end up buying.
bernie lambrecht @ Apr 14th 2008 4:25PM
Just to clarify- the PC price is $69.99. The console versions are $79.99.
LaughingTarget @ Apr 14th 2008 4:26PM
Yup, $10 less plus inevitable mods. I'm all over the PC version.
Chase @ Apr 14th 2008 4:33PM
Duffel bags? Lunch boxes? Does anyone else remember the days when the "special edition" was just a different color case or cart?
Yeah, those days sucks. I will definitely pick up the collector's edition of Fallout 3. This is awesome.
driven2sin @ Apr 14th 2008 5:28PM
I think the orange box could of had a collector's edition to end all collector editions
missed out
Saad77 @ Apr 14th 2008 8:45PM
I must have this! Meh, of course Amazon.ca doesn't have the collectors edition for some reason. So do i take the $15 hit for gamestop shipping to canada or take the free shipping from amazon to the states and get my relatives there to ship it to me and wait longer for it...any other options out there?
Korova @ Apr 14th 2008 11:36PM
picture is win
