Did you know that it was scientifically possible to desire Fallout 3 more than you already do? We didn't until this morning when we saw the (unconfirmed by Bethesda) listing for the collector's edition of it at Gamestop. For $70, you'll get a Vault Boy Bobblehead doll, a hardcover book of art and a behind-the-scenes DVD. Oh, and the whole thing comes in a metal Vault-Tec lunch box. Yes. Please.
There's also a date for the game of October 7, but that could just be an estimate. As far as we're concerned (thanks in part to today's announcement) the official date for Fallout 3 is "Not even close to soon enough."

Yeah, people need to start paying attention. This is how you make a collectors edition worth it. Between this, GTA, and MGS4, it's turning into a good year for gaming geeks.

What are you talking about? The MGS4 collector's edition sucks. Especially when compared to their previous special editions.
GTA, that's a different story.

Artbook and imported soundtrack = win for me.
I mean, seriously, hop on www.play-asia.com and look at the average price of an imported game soundtrack.

If you consider the PS3 Pack as a Special Edition, then yeah, I'd consider that. The one that comes with a soundtrack (I'm pretty sure there's no art book included)? Not so much.

I don't THINK it's exclusive to Gamestop. I pre-ordered my collectors editon from Amazon, which you can find here.

I loved playing Fallout 1/2 back in 98/99. Keep playing both games occasionally each year since.
I'm just really worried about this game, its a shame the original developers aren't working on it and it isn't set in the West Coast like the previous two. : (

I've gotten over any fear of this game coming up sub-par. I don't have a problem with who develops it, or where it takes place. The real question the comes into play is....
XB360, PS3 or PC???
How the hell am I ever going to make that decision? Please god let there be a clear cut better version....

i am psyched for this even more since i live in DC. i cant wait to trod through the neighborhoods i'm familiar with, shrouded in post apocalyptic wreckage. a random west coast setting can't compare.

Considering the social sacrifices we'll be making to play this game for hundreds of hours, that lunch box better come with a thermos too!
Please?

Huge fan. Cautiously optimistic about Bethesda's handling of this.
Slightly concerned with the artwork on the linked Gamestop page. Those line of people heading into the vault remind me of how god awful many of the characters looked in Oblivion (not to mention the loading screen artwork that looked like Napolian Dynamite drew it).

This actually looks pretty decent. A lot of "Collector's Editions" lately have been "remember when you used to get a big cardboard box full of big manuals and stuff? Now we're charging you $70 for it SUCKERS!"
But this is actually a nice package. Still, I want the lunchbox more than the game at this point :)

I just feel it's worth mentioning that only the PC CE is $70, the PS3 and 360 ones are $80.

Bobblehead = Cool
Lunchbox = Freaking awesome
Art book = Meh
Behind the scenes = This garbage should be free, it doesn't cost anything to make
Final tally = One of the few collector's editions I'll end up buying.

Duffel bags? Lunch boxes? Does anyone else remember the days when the "special edition" was just a different color case or cart?
Yeah, those days sucks. I will definitely pick up the collector's edition of Fallout 3. This is awesome.

I must have this! Meh, of course Amazon.ca doesn't have the collectors edition for some reason. So do i take the $15 hit for gamestop shipping to canada or take the free shipping from amazon to the states and get my relatives there to ship it to me and wait longer for it...any other options out there?
