New games this week: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue edition

Things are marginally better this week for PS3 owners with the release of driving sim super sample Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and PC gamers are getting some console ports like Turok and Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Wiis are even getting a nice release in the wolf-shaped form of Okami.

Times are still tough for 360 owners though, who are marking their second week with no new releases. Game publishers: For just $10,000 a day you can sponsor a title for these needy gamers. Honestly, they'd be happy with anything. Another Bubsy game. A cart racer based on Blinx. Can't you please give? After the break we've got a full list of games just begging to be ported.

Lol, that DEMO you're talking about is bigger then a lot of games I've played, Demos should be more like this :)

Bigger, not to mention more fun, and thats full games, complete and full games.

Gran Turismo is the less fun racer ever.

Premier Assassin, read some reviews. You'll find the average consensus is that the Wii controls for this PORT are broken on Okami and that the PS2 original controls better. Hardly game of the week material...

Fernando, Gran Turismo is the LEAST fun racer out there. Less, Lesser, Least are the three tenses of the word.

Wow... starting early today, Fernando? Actually, GT isn't my type of racer either. I prefer the more arcadey racers like PGR; futuristic racers like WipeOut (coming to PSN soon!); and, of course, the goofy Mario Kart.

you mean Joystiq chose the ultimate racing sim over a 2 year old PS2 port?! the madness!!

funny that this mere "demo" has a richer online gameplay experience than any Wii racer, sim or arcade, Nintendo published or third party.

It's still a demo nevertheless.It may be better than most game but it's still an incomplete product.Can't argue with that.

No, I can argue against that, It is a complete product in its own right, and thats why its called a prologue and not a demo.

Okay a complete(and incomplete at the same time) product with a sole aim of farming more money from hardcorez GT fans.If GT5 will have exactly same features etc. why the fuck bother?

Maverick Saturn - how do you know its more fun that all those other games and demos? Are you playing it already?

I think that no matter how much people bitch about GT, they will still want a copy of it. Yeah, its not a full sized offering, but hell, something is better than nothing.

Also, wtf is with 360 releases - this is weak. Luckily there are lots of titles already out that I have yet to hit, but I sure would like to see something great drop. I guess we are stuck waiting for the 29th.

So whos gonna buy this? One of my best buds loves GT games but he doesnt care for the PS brand this time around. =/ I told him Forza2 might be his best bet if he wants a realistic racing sim type game on 360. Anybody know if this is correct? Ive never played Forza cuz Im really not into simracers.

If you're going by the "technical" aspects of the new releases, then the newest "non-demo, non-old" game would be Summer Sports:PI.

Forza is a nice racing sim on the 360, but if he is REALLY into cars, just like any other racing fan would tell you, GT is the way to go (For the record, I'm not into racing sims, but all the people that I know that love racing do have a copy of GT, and 3 bought PGR just for the lulz)

I'd have made Okami the featured game, too.
A) It's a Clover game.
B) It's Okami. 'nuff said.
C) It needs all the help it can get.

That really depends how GT4 turns out. It will ultimately depends on if GT4 has hundreds of cars to select from like previous versions. The draw to car enthusiasts the the prior GT games was because they had more 'normal' cars that they actually own in the game, and didn't focus on unobtainable supercars that you usually see in most racers. People could buy a Honda Civic in a GT game and tune it up and make it look like the one in their driveway and have it handle quite accurate down the course. If GT can keep it in this version, then it'll be big, but I think if it only comes out as a Forza 2 competitor with a somewhat limited higher end car selection, it wont get as much notice.

I used to have a SNES Bubsy game... =(

By the way, on those times, I bought a game because the cover looked so awesome... it the cover, two guys are getting absorbed by a TV, and there's a skelleton and and big red balloons. It sucked so hard.

A new PSN Store, new sound features for the PS3 and an award-winning racing game? Sounds like heaven to me.

But I'll buying the disc version of GT5: Prologue. While 20GB is still a lot of space I would hate for GT5 to be on there taking up half of what's left. Although I have no idea how big the game is I'm sure it'll be more than 2GB.

dude i dont know if you should buy the disc version just based on space saving cause if its anything like Warhawk, its basically the PSN download game on a disc. only thing is if you have the disc version, the disc has to be in the drive for it to play (kinda like PC games).

i could be wrong but its certainly something i would look into if i were you.

oh and also, go to www.newegg.com and get urself a larger drive if you think this is going to be a recurrent problem for you.

I'm getting the disc version cause i have a bunch of best buy gift cards left over from xmas...

Getting the disc version here as well. Though I'm holding off on getting a larger SATA drive for the PS3, since I'm looking to reserve/buy the MGS4 PS3.

The disc requires a 6-gig install in addition to downloading a 1-gig patch. So either way, the 20-gig hard drive users are screwed.

I'll take Warhawk ANY DAY over CoD4. I loved the CoD4 short campaign, but the MP wasn't my thing. I prefer the enormous maps, vehicles, and gameplay of Warhawk by long shot. Seriously, the two are vastly different MP experiences.

Warhawk has more in common with Body Harvest than COD4...

And I know I suck at COD4... BUT I FUCKING JUST GOT IT SATURDAY! (responding to the person who kept chanting "why you bringing your suck ass mess in this game, boooy" on Sunday... fucking prick)

We need to play again Screw Jumper, sheppy =p

either way i find warhawk more fun than cod4 and i cant stand mario kart. I'll get GT because I'm a car guy before a gamer. Maybe because I have my own IRL track car, I appreciate a driving sim more than a racing game

Funny, I thought that that line is regularly used for all the games of the Mario Sports series...

Anyway, CoD4 doesn't have anything in common with Warhawk other than the fact that there is a war, and that it is a shooter, many find Warhawk FAR MORE chaotic than CoD4

Warhawk IS more chaotic then COD4 :S

If you're not being bombarded by planes, you're being shot down on foot or by vehicle, it doesn't end :P

Which should give 360 owners a little bit of time to catch up on the backlog of great games they haven't gotten a chance to playthrough yet.

I could go 2 years without a new release on any console and still have a better time than any other 2-year period just playing games I haven't gotten to yet and continuing with the online multiplayer of those I have.

The fact that this year we're still getting GTA4, Star Wars Force Unleashed, GT5P, Gears 2, Fable 2, Fallout 3, a new Mario Kart game on top of that 2 years worth of backlogged stuff is nuts.

I believe the OP forgot to add /sarcasm at the end.
