I have a 360 and no PS3 but I will buy the PS3 version because the cases are smaller and cuter and the poll is very scientific and has won my heart.

I have both a 360 and a PS3 and I am getting it for PS3 just because thats what all my friends have. I just hope that when (if ever) home comes out, they will have an achievement-like system.

Plus the only 360 games I have are Halo 3 and Mass Effect, so my gamerscore is pretty puny.

Alisha Karabinus (Nintendo Fanboy): "Xbox 360 all the way, because I would need to jack actual cars, out on the actual street, to afford a damn PS3."

Lol that could not be farther from he truth. Not only is the closest thing to the ps3 (360 elite) 50$ more then a ps3 but it still lacks a LOT of things the ps3 has.

I don't have a problem with achievements, I have a problem with giving points for them and the whole gamerscore thing. Contrary to popular belief you are not necessarily a way better gamer then I am simply because you picked up Avatar and played it for 5 minutes to get 1000 points. Not to sound like a fanboy, but I like the entitlements on the PS3 better where you complete the various objectives because you have fun doing it and not because you want to rub it in peoples faces. (And you know you do, it's the only reason anyone played Avatar.)

Let's stop the PS3 is better than the 360 already!! Both versions are pretty much the same, I'm getting it for the Xbox 360 just for the amount of friends that are on my list, not to metion that I HATE the PSN network and how it's run!! The DLC is also a deal breaker and Achievements also make a BIG difference!!

I have both consoles and I'm getting it for the Xbox 360. The Reasons; XBL, downloadable content, and achievements. Yes, I like going for achievements cause it increases the games playability life. It gives me something else to strive for other than just to beat the game. As a matter of fact I will never buy a PS3 game that is also available on the 360 cause I know I'll get more value out of the 360 version because of the achievements.

Meh, I've posted here a few times without actually saying which version I'm picking up, keep in mind I'm probably in the minority here and most people will think differently- and that's perfectly fine.

My roommate and I share a 360, wii, and ps3.

I'm getting it for my ps3... when I feel like it, probably a few weeks after release.

Why?

1) The only GTA games I've beaten are 2 and 3 because they were the shortest-and I've only played them up to completion of the story, never to 100% completion... so 10 hours of extra content I'm never gonna get to, that isn't related to the main story is not appealing to me.

2) Since I'm not much of a completionest, Achievements are not much of a factor to me- keep in mind I picked up my 60 gig Ps3 after the first price drop- in the 360's hey day when 360 fanboism was in it's peak. Achievements didn't matter much to me then, they're not gonna matter when Sony makes their equivalent for the ps3.

3) I played all the games before on a dualshock controller, liked it then- like it now.

Those are my reasons for picking up the ps3 version, flame on boys- flame on.

$50+ for rumble V.S. $50+ for 12 months of XBOX LIVE??

Actually,if we paid $50 for Sony to unlock rumble on our existing controllers we then in fact would be paying for rumble. That $50 actually gets a new, physical controller, whereas Xbox Live is just giving us the privilege to use our own connections to host games. I'm already paying for internet access and bought your system, tell me again why I should pay you to use my connection?

I have both a PS3 and 360 and i'll honestly be getting it for the PS3. It's a quieter system and has less failure rates. I don't care at all about online shit,so at least when I take a peek at GTA4 online when I beat the single player it'll be free.

I can't wait to see how many "GTA4 killed my 360!" stories are going to pop up after this game is released. It happens with every big game so it's only inevitable.

So yes I have experienced it and it's played out. I have a gamescore of 20k and I couldnt care less about achievements anymore.

No,i'm getting another controller that just happens to have rumble in it. It would be the same price if I paid for the sixaxis. If I buy another controller my sixaxis ones don't magically disappear, but I in fact own a second controller.

when i bought my 360 elite , i paid almost 500 bucks, then i paid 20 bucks for the charging kit for the wireless controller, i also paid 40 bucks for another controller and another 20 bucks for another charging kit. So if i buy another controller that is 60 bucks a pop. I didnt even look at the price of the wireless,i am also glad i didnt purchase the HD-DVD.

thats almost 620 bucks i spent on my high end 360.

When i purchased my ps3 i paid 500 (60G) bucks plus 50 bucks for another controller. I didnt have to buy a charging kit , i didnt have to buy wireless, there was alot of stuff i didnt have to pay extra for.

To tell the truth i wont be buying the Dual shock controller, but to say that someone is wasting there money just for the rumble, cant it be said tht i wasted my money for rechargable batteries for my 360 ?

Ive been playing GTA since it was top down 2D and ever since then there has been a wrap sheet ( Achievements for completing certain tasks). I have a pswi60 and i really dont care about Achievement. I will be really pissed if microsoft had the PS3 version nerfed.

I am detecting a very subtle bias in favor of the 360 among Joystiq staff. Its hard to see at first, but if you read between the lines:

ALL OF THEM ARE GETTING THE #^) VERSION!!!

Also, about the comments tally. Since what I thought was written by others, I just hearted their comments instead of adding mine.

I always imagine that 'stiq keeps track of how many times someone is hearted up or down. How do the hearts work anyway?

Synner,

Thanks for degenerating into insults...

"Um, the $400 PS3 has 0 BC titles doofus."

Little tip, READ the entire post of a person before insulting them, and get your facts straight.

Actually, let me put it this way...since you said 0, and became insulting, can I assume that if I can name just ONE older (pre-PS3) title that will play on my 40Gig PS3, you will admit that you were wrong, and will promise not to degrade a discussion with insults ever again? (not expecting a reasonable response from you here, but let's give it a shot).

First i didnt have to buy a longer cable, i had about 10 at least 6 foot ones laying around my house because my phone,my mp3 player, my camera and abunch of other stuff use the same cable. Second i can plug ths ps3 controller into any usb device and it charges while im playing the game ( doesnt have to be the ps3). Second i have at least 2 or 3 Bluetooth headsets that can pair with multiple devices i didnt have to buy one. I need a propriatery cable to charge my 360 controller, yes its a nice long cable but it will only work with the 360.

If i did have to buy a longer usb cable 2 bucks at monoprice

my 360 elite ended up costing me alot more than i bargained for, that was before i even purchased any games. my ps3 didnt because the stuff that would be bought was already laying around my house. Also did i miss something my elite didnt come with a remote, I dont have a harmony remote so i would need to spend money on that regardless if it was the ps3 or the 360. But a remote doesnt allow me to play with my friends, connect wireless to the internet or anything that i would consider alternative plug & play. I have a netflix account so i get dvds and blu ray titles at least 3 times a week ( no out of stock). how much is it to subscribe to XBL Movie download services , is it free to download what ever i want, or is it pay per title, can i copy those titles to another unit ?

I am sorry i am going off topic but for me personally the xbox 360 cost me more money than the ps3 to fit my needs, so it looks like we spent the same amount on our systems because of our needs.

For some reason (probably my own lack of skill) I only see reply on certain messages, so my apologies for my breaks with netiquette.

Just a quick one: I believe the PS3 controllers DO turn off when you use their PS button to turn off the system - yes, I think that they SHOULD turn off with either method, but I always turn off the system via controller (since it's there in my hand) and so I don't have the problem

Synner, again with the insults.

Okay, I will spell it out. As far as I know, ALL PS3 models are b/c with PS1 games.

Please link the site where Sony says that the 40Gig model will not play any PS1 games.

And when I mentioned 'no HD movie' playback, I was giving an example of what someone COULD play...your goofy downloadable example is exactly as weak as the PS1 b/c argument. Let me restate then, and you can continue to refute:

The 360 has no HD movie playback unless you count downloadable movies that take forever to load, and which have draconian DRM...or maybe 360 has no HD movie playback that you can watch for more than one 24 hour period.

More ridiculous arguing from you re:wifi...so now every feature that YOU don't personally use is something that can't be counted as advantage by ANYONE?

Okay...I don't like achievements...therefore they have no value to anyone - MS should have to refund my share of any development costs for achievements.

Wow...I didn't realize that the 360 included HDMI cables in every SKU...oh wait...they don't..they include in models for which you pay a PRICE PREMIUM.

Batteries...wow...now you're claiming as a disadvantage of the PS3 the POSSIBILITY that the batteries MIGHT cost a lot....nice...I now claim as a disadvantage of the 360 that it might catch fire or strangle all my cats someday maybe in a year or so perhaps possibly...

I also love how all these price comparison arguments always have HDMI cables and optical cables costing whatever it will take to make 360 cost less.

Ok...my last comment here since you and I aren't ever going to agree, and you're just going to keep degenerating into personal attacks and profanity, but here goes...back to the HD movie thing...

If you consider the CURRENT state of HD film downloads to be preferable to physical media, particularly in terms of ease of use, viewing and REviewing, download times, and cost, then more power to you, I guess. And of course I love how you again play loose with facts...so you can't find BRs in stock anywhere?

But I get it...for you anything is better than leaving your house...I should have guessed at that from the first time you started hurling insults into a web forum.

Hell,I would like to see half of these rushed games if we took internet access/patches out of the equation. I feel sorry for the poor bastard who still has the 12 yard frag tag in the unpatched Gears of War.

I'd prefer it on the PS3 since GTA has always been a PlayStation game and it would feel wired to play it on another console. Also you have to think of the future of each consoles, if you wanted a new next gen console (PS3 or 360) to play GTA you would want to go with the one that has other big titles on it. Since MGS4 is coming out (Possbile Game of the year) it is not a hard choice to make. Of cause you could argue about the current games that the 360 has got, but what other decent games are coming out in the future... Gears 2 and Halo wars?

Fable 2
Left 4 Dead

Splinter Cell Conviction

okay - breaking my own promise and posting again since you asked an honest question.

To my knowledge, you are right about the PSTWO emotion engine, but ALL models of the PS3 (in all press releases I've read) are compatible with the PSONE - pop them in and go. Now I too am willing to admit that I might be wrong about certain SKUs, but Sony's site lists NO PS2 but YES PS1 for the 40gigger.

And I DO feel like calling someone full of it is resorting to insults..but I'm more focusing when I say insult on the fact that about the first post you ever threw out there in response to mine called me a 'doofus' - this to me sounded like an insult, but maybe definitions are hazy on the web these days.

And I'll also concede you may be right about Blockbuster RENTALS, but you originally said 'rent or BUY' - that's the thing that threw me, since I've had no problem at all finding BR discs for purchase...and once I get them I can watch them that day, or months later, which you can't do with downloads.

If you really do like the rental model, and if you don't care that the downloads don't have any extras and can have degraded quality (not talking resolution but compression), then that model does work for you. I on the other hand don't want to plan out my viewing for the week...if I on a whim want to watch a flick, I don't have to wait for it to show up.

360 version fo sho. I own both consoles, and while the idea of playing on the PS3 does interest me (the PS3 needs some love - its lonely), the knowledge of achievements and DLC is enough to sway me. That and the majority of multi-console releases has shown pretty consistently that the PS3 version of an game has had issues, such as framerate.

Finally, the idea that I can still be connected on LIVE is a big feature for me. Anytime I play my PS3 I feel disconnected. LIVE has really brought about that sence of community that I can't live without anymore while gaming.

1) Achievements
2) Better Online support with Xbox Live ie. Friends List
3) Exclusive Downloadble Content
4) Controller w/ rumble support (that you already have)

So yea...I have both consoles...I wonder which one I'm getting it for...I mean jeez...so obvious.
