Harmonix's PR states it has not made an official announcement on a European release for any other consoles beyond the Xbox 360. We'll update this story if things change, but for now this release date is still in the rumor territory. Either way, there's still plenty of time for non-Xbox 360 owners to sell a kidney (remember, keep at least one!) to afford the game.
Rumor: Europe's Rock Band rollin' onto PS3, PS2 and Wii Aug. 29

VideoGamer reports that EA has slated Rock Band's release on PS3, PS2 and Wii in Europe for August 29. This means the Xbox 360 will have three months of exclusivity on the exorbitantly priced enhanced cost game before it releases on other consoles.

PS3 version is region free.
Apparently nobody gives a flying fadoo about the other versions.
So in conclusion, nothing of value is lost.

If Ludwig is to be believed (and he is), it would cost less to buy the game in the US and have it FedExed to him (in South Africa) than it would to buy the game in PAL territories.

Poor old Xbox360 saps. £180. I bought my region-free PS3 version and had it shipped to UK 3 months back, and it cost me £130 including postage from the US.

That's nice. Now all you need are some friends.

Sorry for the noob question (I'm not really), but do I have this correct:
I can have the total Rock Band package shipped to me from America to here in the UK, and it will work fine on a European PS3?
How about when the game actually gets released - will I then be able to have access to the DLC and multiplayer in the european store and PSN, or will I need an American credit card or something to set up a US account?
And if I do have to use an US PSN account, will I then be able to play with my friends on the european servers?

Although if most sensible 360 owners in 'Europe' refuse to bye this at its current price, then maybe by the time it releases on other consoles there may have been a miraculous "price restructure".
n.b. I'm sure it has been stated many times before but 'Europe' does not consist of only 6 countries ;)

I hate EA. They claim to be platform agnostic, then they hire Microsoft executives and give a high-profile game a 1/4 year exclusivity. Not to mention the half-assed job they did with FIFA and The Orange Box.
Not hating on the 360, but seriously EA: There are PS3 owners out there too, you know? In fact, the PS3 has been doing really well in Europe. Cut the crap. Start showing that you're not an unimaginative, biased, complacent, employee-harassing monolith.

I feel kinda silly now, I brought Band in a Box for £100 and the game for £40 (total £140) from amazon the other day for 360 PAL =/
I didn't know that the NTSC PS3 version worked on PAL PS3 systems! >.< AND my sister lives in the US!!!
The only thing thats stopping me from canceling my order is the not knowing if I can play online and get DLC =(
Even though I saved like £50, my sister could have sent it to me for like £100 tops with p&p.
