This Wednesday: Rocky & Bullwinkle join Battlezone on XBLA
Flying squirrel and talking moose news now, with fondly remembered 60's cartoon, Rocky & Bullwinkle, returning in HD on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday. The classic characters return en moose in a collection of over 100 "micro games," 25 of which use the Xbox Live Vision camera in such heart-stopping activities as "rowing a boat, "throwing darts" and, presumably, tying a noose. The anthropomorphic duo can be yours for 800 MS Points ($10).
The retro theme continues with Wednesday's other revamped release, Battlezone. Atari's wireframe warfare has been given a fresh coat of paint, along with online multiplayer modes and Xbox Live Vision camera support. Be tankful that the asking price is no more than 400 MS Points ($5).

Battlezone, that really takes me back to my PC gaming days... in 1982

Nice to see other "old schoolers" here. :)

When I first read "Rocky & Bullwinkle, returning in HD on Xbox Live Arcade", I got all excited. A reasonably solid platformer would have warranted a purchase from me based on nostalgic value alone.
A collection of minigames, however = no thank you. (plus I would never purchase a vision cam just for this)

Rocky and bull winkle = worst film ever
robert deneiro what were you thinking.
samfish @ Apr 14th 2008 4:54PM
Which one? I believe there are two, aren't there? One made a few years ago with CGI Rocky & Bullwinkle and another one made in like the early 90s where they were turned into people or something stupid like that?
Or am I just completely remembering something wrong?
Esat Dedezade @ Apr 14th 2008 4:56PM
the newer one.

Why, you're not tankful for that pun? =D

XBLA= online equivalent to Wii= nothing but shovelware and shit nobody wants. No thanks

Last week, we got Ikaruga, which I anticipated for a while. This week, we get Rocky and Bullwinkle, which just sucks. Next week can only go up right? Right?
*Superman 64 is announced for next week*

They're going for the full monty by releasing Custer's Revenge.
ChooChooCharlie (Brawl: 1504-5357-9285) @ Apr 14th 2008 5:42PM
Custer's Revenge HD
Now with added "What makes a red man red?" looping soundtrack.
*fixed*
I can hear the outrage already.

Call me when Castle Crashers comes out!
*falls asleep

The movie, they only made one, was fantastic and fit perfectly into the lameness that is Rocky and Bullwinkle.
Now it's time to get those moose and squirrel.

You know guys, somehow I don't think a Rocky & Bullwinkle Marioware-style game is exactly aimed at this audience. Not every XBLA game has to hit the Joystiq demographic you know.
And I still don't get why people get so upset if they don't like an XBLA title. That's why they all have trials -- if you don't like don't buy. But why bitch and moan all the time. Do you really have such shallow empty lives that the games available on an OPTIONAL download service get you all riled up?
jynxycat @ Apr 14th 2008 6:26PM
Rocky & Bullwinkle for the NES was one of the hardest games I've played.
Like Dragon's Lair, I could never pass the first screen.
Obie @ Apr 14th 2008 7:51PM
"Vee must get moose and squirrel!"
Orrr maybe not, doesn't look that great.
Youthinized @ Apr 14th 2008 9:18PM
I love it how M$ is wanting to have less 'retro' games by denying the Cave Shumps.
And what do they turn around and do?
Battlezone!
I'm sure Battlezone will be fun, but c'mon. Why the double standards?
Jansperus @ Apr 14th 2008 9:22PM
This is the greatest news I heard all year! Though the game is being marketed as a casual game a evidenced by its release on XBLA, I have no doubt that it'll REVOLUTIONIZE the gaming industry just as the cartoon revolutionized animation. God, this is so AWESOME!
J.Goodwin @ Apr 14th 2008 11:42PM
Didn't they just put a Rocky & Bullwinkle up as DLC for Pinball FX?
What's up with the comeback?
hvnlysoldr @ Apr 22nd 2008 2:17AM
Nostalgia for moose-berry powered rockets aren't strong enough for the Wario Ware esque minigame Rocky.
