Bionic Commando Rearmed grapples with M-rating

Bionic Commando Rearmed's website unleashed a pre-emptive strike, announcing the game received a Mature rating from the ESRB. The ESRB has not yet listed the game on its own site. Having had some hands-on time with the game ourselves, the only reason we could come up with the title receiving the M-rating was due to the final scene.

*SPOILER ALERT* The site states in one of its "communications" that the M-rating means players will see the "historically accurate" scene where ~~Hitler's~~ Master D's head pops like a can of Pringles -- but now in glorious HD. The communication jokes it'll be the "best five seconds of [its] entire life."

Hmm... Maybe that explains why the original hasn't appeared on Virtual Console yet (aside from the fact that VC releases are a slower trickle than a leaky faucet).

Altough Im going to buy the game for the 360 (all multiplatforms titles go to the 360), Im hoping for a WiiWare version of this title...

Its a very good possibility... without HD resolution, it will not take more than 50MB.

*Before someone start bashing... both 360 and PS3 will have the same graphics quality... Microsoft allowed Capcom to exceed the 150MB limit. Both are the same size now.

Actually, the original was recently released on GBA (well, a few years ago but who's counting?), and the game earned a T rating (at worst).

I'm assuming they're just making it *that more graphic*. Which fits with the HD theme, I guess, but the scene always kind of made me feel kind of queasy as it was - any more graphic and I dunno HOW I'd feel.

A shame, though, since I'd wanted to play this with my little brother in co-op mode. I guess I can, up until Hitler goes boom? Eh, well, until then, it's back to trying to convince him that yes, Ikaruga is awesome, and that he should play it with me. Even if he's more of a hindrance dying all the time than he is a help. (Who cares? It's fun. If I want big scores I'll play solo. :P)

It seems as though the registration is only complete if both players are online at the same time.

Oh, I had forgotten about the GBA Capcom Collection. I guess that's proof that, if anything, the NES version of Bionic Commando would be rated T nowadays. Hmm..

No, every testosterone-driven teenage male is like that. Because, it doesn't matter if the controls are good or if the fun factor is high; as long as the game is full of blood, boobs, and bad words it's a great game, amirite?!

You may be, but just because a game is rated M means that its better than a game rated E. For example, Mario Galaxy > Kane and Lynch.

I completely agree, obviously there are tons of good E-T rated games, and I certainly wouldnt buy crap game just because it was M rated, but say for instance, you heard Gears of war 2 was coming out and it was rated teen. You would think it was scaled back and pussified. I have been looking forward to this game for a while now, and seeing it getting an M-rating makes it more attrative to me.
