OK, but until they announce that we can do DLC and use GH3 guitars, no dice

Yeah, I feel pretty much the same way. I'd love to get RB but I already own 2 GH3 guitars. If I can't use them for RB then I'm out right there, I could even live without the DLC.

The songs listed above are all pretty good but they hardly seem like "bonus tracks" if they are already available on the other systems. I might have been swayed had they been some sort of Nintendo arrangements.

Oh, btw, who are the Ramonese? Sounds like a Mafia family

No GH3 Guitars is an issue with Activision, in this case, not EA, EA's already had trouble with Activision Guitar compatibility (see that whole PS3 dispute) and figured they'd just skip it this time

If anyone actually cared about Wii Rock Band, they might make a mod with a USB BlueTooth adapter that would plug into the back port and would just register the Wii remote wirelessly

But nobody cares. Nobody should care

Mr. Khan- there is no issue with Activision. The GH3 guitar is just a classic controller in a guitar shell. Since it uses the Wiimote, all Harmonix would have to do is to allow Rock Band to be played with a classic controller, and they would get GH3 guitar compatibility. There is nothing Activision can do about it.

The real reason that there is no GH3 compatibility is because Harmonix is just doing a PS2 port, and they are just using the PS2 instruments. Instead of using the Wiimote in the RB guitar (and getting GH3 guitar compatibility automatically) and tailoring the RB experience to the Wii, they are just being lazy. Its disgusting. Until they allow GH3 guitars, I'm not getting Rock Band. And I really wanted it.

Exactly Matt B. There are already third party developers that make single guitars to work with PS2, PS3 guitar hero AND PS3 rock band... Plus, since you can play guitar hero using only the wiimote you wouldn't even need classic controller support, you could map it directly to the wiimote's buttons and accelerometer.

(If you want to try, just unplug your guitar and smack the buttons. There's no config or option that needs to be set)

Reason #378 not to buy the Wii version of Rock Band.

Who was actually expecting anything different? The Wii version is obviously just a cash in.

Harmonix somehow managed to do the impossible - they made Rock Band worse than GH3. I really thought that would take some effort, but clearly it was easy for them.

sn1per, the entirety of the blame shouldn't be on Harmonix. Also put the blame on the studio they had develop the Wii version, which is Pi Studios

I'm sure Harmonix had almost nothing to do with this. No doubt EA just contracted Pi Studios to develop the Wii game, without even really talking to Harmonix.

You just had to say "Merry freakin' Christmas"
I lol'd hard since my friends and I who play RB in our dorm lounge named our band "Merry Fukkin' Christmas" (Our lead singer is Satan Clause)

All that being said, when I eventually do buy it for myself, I think I'll be forced to go the 360 route (I need my Still Alive)

These aren't even the top 5 sellers... they're just random songs :(

I would have gone 2 routes with this if I were Harmonix.

1) get the top 5 selling songs (besides the free ones)

2) get the top 5 hardest difficulty songs

Heck, there aren't even any metal songs ;(

Quoteth:

Harmonix and parent company MTV Games today announced that they have sold more than 2.5 million downloadable songs for the game through the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network. The best-selling download to date is the Metallica pack, which features the original versions of "Ride the Lightning," "Blackened," and "And Justice for All." Combo packs from the Police, Queens of the Stone Age, David Bowie (two covers and one original), and Black Sabbath (three cover songs) follow Metallica on the best-seller list.

As far as individual songs go, Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero" takes the crown, trailed by Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son," Weezer's "Buddy Holly," and the Knack's "My Sharona." Of those, only "Buddy Holly" is a performance from the original artist.
