Reminder: The new PSN Store, PS3 firmware 2.30 both live

As if that weren't exciting enough, this also means that weekly updates to the store will resume and PS3 Rock Band owners will finally get their hands on Jonathan Coulton's "Still Alive." We'd expect the geek anthem to be part of a pretty beefy update this week to mark the store's return, we'll let you know when we hear something.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in.]

It seems really slow at loading images for me - might just be teething problems though.
Bleu @ Apr 15th 2008 9:54AM
Nah bro I downloaded the update and it all working perfectly. I love this new look. And the chime sound it makes when you maneuver around the store.
ViagraFiend @ Apr 15th 2008 10:04AM
Its really slow loading images for me too.
Einhanderkiller @ Apr 15th 2008 10:43AM
The images will likely load up faster once they're downloaded and put into your cache.
superaktieboy @ Apr 15th 2008 3:09PM
i think its because too many people are on it at ones.. i mean alot of people were excited about the new store, and yes it loads slow here aswel (the images i mean)

Hey Fenix,
since you have access to both stores and are slightly biased towards Live...I am curious as to what you think of the new store.
Thanks
PS
if you have HSG5, I love to play and welcome a game.

WiiSports Machine...Fernandos in disguise PSN: Killjebus @ Apr 15th 2008 10:56AM
Get the demo from the EU store. If you are a fan of HS, it is worth it.
FrankTheCrank @ Apr 15th 2008 11:14AM
Damn...I can't wait to go home tonight.
You guys pickup GT5 Prologue? I'm ready to head to lunch and stop by Gamestop to pick up my pre-order.

upz @ Apr 15th 2008 12:33PM
We should do what Joysqiq did for Brawl and throw together a PSNID thread for the MGO beta.
Mine's heypaul, if anyone wants to add me.
NATO_Duke @ Apr 15th 2008 12:51PM
I haven't had time to update it yet, but plan on it tonight. Gotta get a copy of GT5 too. Fenix, you gonna grab that?
xFenixKnightx @ Apr 15th 2008 1:18PM
Nah Im passing on GT, never been into the series or any sim racer for that matter. Its just Mario Kart for me this time.
NATO_Duke @ Apr 15th 2008 4:21PM
OK Fenix. Yet I need you to understand that I'll be telling everyone how bad I owned you at GT anyway, I'm sure you won't have a problem with that.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 15th 2008 9:50AM
Yes! Finally! Hope I have some time to check this out tonight.
xFenixKnightx @ Apr 15th 2008 10:02AM
Whats your PSN Tuna?

No problems here. 1st time I loaded it up, no problems. Second time, no pictures, since then, loads up right away and soooo easy compared to the old store.
I was one of those who thought the old store was fine. Now, I realize that I HATED the old store compared to this beauty.
Cannot wait for thursday and of course MG monday.
So fast, and buttery smooth the new store is.
PSN: KillaKornbread (the shirt is a lie!) @ Apr 15th 2008 4:45PM
dude that is exactly what i said. i thought the old store got the job done. sure it moved from page to page a little slow but it was fine with me other than that.
that was until last night when i tried out the new store and oh my god that thing is spiffy! its so fast and clean and the start up sound is great. its a massive improvement on something i didnt even realize needed that much improving.
XanthouS @ Apr 15th 2008 9:53AM
Works pretty nifty, but I'm looking forward to seeing it on my 1080p set. =]
Crazy 88 @ Apr 15th 2008 10:04AM
I tried it late lastnight and it never worked properly for me. I could never get an image to appear in any part of the store. Once it starts working properly, I can tell it was a very nice upgrade to the old store, looks great!
Mr Intel @ Apr 15th 2008 10:05AM
i love it its fast and beautiful but i have noticed some images loading slowly i know the store is a application now but it looks like it still loads the pics from the web i thought every thing would be on save to the hard disk
Vcize @ Apr 15th 2008 10:27AM
Damnit why did I have to oversleep today so I couldn't check this out before going into work?
bcbudha @ Apr 15th 2008 10:58AM
i downloaded the new firmware this morning and noticed something very different after install my ps3 said it was repairing the database wondering if anyone else had this happen?
creid @ Apr 15th 2008 11:37AM
I've read of that happening to a few people in the last couple weeks, possibly as a result of the last firmware update. Seems if you renamed videos/songs/etc, the names have been lost.
Prince Serlith @ Apr 15th 2008 1:02PM
Its cool and everything. Concept wise, but there seems to be loading issues and I'm sure other issue that other users are having but over all its ok. if i had to rate how much of an improvement it has it be a 7 out of 10.
Colin @ Apr 15th 2008 2:02PM
It is MUCH better than before. Since the interface is on the PS3 (in the same manner as XBLM), and the content online, it is understandable that it can take some time for content images and such to load, but it does seem a little slow even still. Just to be clear: the interface is super zippy (maybe even more so than XBLM!), the content takes a few moments to load. O for back FTW!!
Colin @ Apr 15th 2008 2:02PM
The update also added support for DTS Master Audio (lossless) and DTS-HD. I think this might just be one of the greatest updates yet!
Alexander @ Apr 15th 2008 3:53PM
I like it better than live market place its fast too but sadly the content is lacking
