Super Mario Galaxy mod turns on our heart lights
It's comfortingly rare, but sometimes the internet brings us something so rad that we're unable to say something mean or snarky about it. That's exactly the situation we find ourselves in when we lay eyes on this Super Mario Galaxy-themed Wii created by Morpheon Mods. You win this round, the internet.
While the stars and the lettering are nice, we have to say that it's the addition of sound effects that really put it over the top for us. What's more, you could actually own this little masterpiece if you win the eBay auction that's currently sitting around $409. (And some proceeds go to Child's Play!) Remember kids, if your parents say they can't find you a Wii, this one is right there for the taking.

Great Neil Diamond reference!

Nice
It's the sounds that did it for me though.
Where did they get a red Wiimote?
eldee @ Apr 15th 2008 11:44AM
probably the same place they got a black wii with mario characters glued to it.
See what I did there?

That looks blue to me, not black...
But, yeah, he probably painted it.

If it was teh 360 MS would ban his Live Account XD
eldee @ Apr 15th 2008 11:43AM
compared to some of the other console mods I've seen, this one is kinda lame.. The zelda mod was infinitely better.
BPM [SSBB: 5026 4120 1186] @ Apr 15th 2008 12:23PM
Seriously? I mean, sure his Zelda mod was pretty cool, but it's a lot more simplistic than his Galaxy mod. Aside from the paint coat, the only thing different was the shield emblem on the side with the LED(s) under it.
This has added a Wii Remote charger (like his Metroid mod), blinking LEDs (that are activated seperately from the other LEDs), and it makes sound effects when the buttons are pressed.

WANT, but it's only 15% to charity, so it seems like a pretty blatant marketing exercise to me..
LesbianHam @ Apr 15th 2008 1:46PM
You just hatin'
Obie @ Apr 15th 2008 12:05PM
The thing would've looked even better with some nicer lighting, and how about some music instead of that grinding sound in the background?
Still...awesome mod.
embassy @ Apr 15th 2008 12:10PM
i dunno, this is dangerously straddling the "wow, thats so awesome" and "wow, thats really tacky" line.
Chris Chester @ Apr 15th 2008 12:51PM
It's so...so...unnecessary.
Jacksons @ Apr 15th 2008 12:52PM
To each their own, but this seems awfully tacky.

NOT A MOD.
This is a customization, not a modification. The change is purely aesthetic. There's no change to the internals. No rewiring. No increase or alteration of functions. It's not even a different Wii casing.
Ben Heck does modifications. People who change the way something looks without changing the internals are doing customizations.
Pardon the term, but this is just ricing a Wii.
Stick all the LEDs and hunks of plastic on it you want. It doesn't make it faster.
For the record, it's a GOOD customization. Awesome, actually. But the blogs need to stop calling things like this "mods", because they simply aren't.

While probably not authoritative, it makes a good case for calling these "mods."

Ahh, that's your Gaydar in action, then? :)
Shagittarius @ Apr 15th 2008 5:54PM
I would have said 'The gayest thing all month' but there was that PodCast Karate Kid picture that was up last week.

I just want someone to paint my Wii black like his and paint my Wiimotes the same shade of red.
