Heh... all the companies deny pretty much any news they didn't want out yet. Don't want to interrupt the sales of their money printing model.

They really should be more passive about it. Denial just fuels the truth. If they just swish their hand and say, "Whatever, believe what you will," I'd be more likely to take their word for it.

Yes, but iirc, it was a Nintendo Europe person who made that hilarious statement, and they've always seemed to be out of the loop compared to NoA

Nintendo Japan made this denial, and their word is to be taken as doctrine, 9 times out of ten

I meant for my sexy Kaplan comment to be a reply to this. I use my Wii for my main internet source and mistakes tend to happen. Either way, I'd show her my final smash.

I don't see why they would release a new model, I mean the DS Lite still sells enormously well, past 70 million last I checked. But anything to add to their moutntain of cash I guess.

If memory serves me; Nintendo once denied that the DS Lite existed and then a week later they announced it. Seems like something strange is afoot at the Circle K.

Thumbs up for "lie factory."

Not because of the Nintendo bashing, it's just a funny thing to say. I'm going to go play some games on my DS Phat now.

Its worse for lugging around, but i don't do that much with my handhelds, strangely enough, and i feel its better for actually playing, feels more comfortable

I too never jumped to the lite (or slim on the PSP). If they do have this new model coming out and the price is right, I might bite.

I never got the Lite, but my DS is worn so hard (nearly beyond repair) since I got it on launch day, I'll probably be getting this fancy new model. Which will HARNESS THE POWER OF THE SUN. :O

Oh it's all about the Phat. Mine is dinged to hell, with scratches here and there, but instead of looking dingy and bad like they would on the Lite, the damage adds character. It's like a worn, leather-bound book as opposed to a worn, faded (but once shiny and glossy) hardcover. One just exudes cool, the other just looks old.

Hamza: Please, if you're going to disparage someone's sexual orientation, use proper spelling.

Yeah, I'll eventually buy the new one. I bought the special edition Mario Kart DS Phat, the original DS Phat and a DS Lite. So yeah, I'll probably bite on a new one. I'm a fanboy, I'll admit it. But minus all the 1337 speak, gay bashing, bad spelling and other console hating.

So I guess I'm not a fanboy?

@Hamza. I'll buy it for the same reason that I picked up the Lite. Because it was worth it. For me (important part, that one).
I passed my DS phat onto my sister, then my buddy, and it's now with my girlfriend. I'm guessing I'd do the same with my lite if they release another one.
As far as my sexual orientation goes, I'm straight. You?

OK, Just to inform you that this "No DS Lite" news was coming From Nintendo of Europe, who is the least informed suborganisation of Nintendo. The rules is: "trust no news coming from Nintendo of Europe unles it's a game date release schedule". Seriously, Nintendo of Europe is just a big retailer, no more. They basically know no shit about what's going on in Nintendo's development.

Here's an alternative, especially for emulations.

http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/16/gameparks-gp2x-f-200-handheld-gets-reviewed/

I really love the Lite's Touch Screen capability and 'quick' power up/wake from sleep capability, on the other hand, I really like the processing power and games that are coming out on the PSP (with its beautiful screen)

Kinda what I was wondering. I'm expecting a whole new system (well, an upgraded DS fully backwards compatible) to be announced rather than a cosmetic revision to the current system.

When has it become ok for big companies to straight out lie about stuff? We see it every day from pretty much all of them, and somehow, we don't hold them responsible for it. It's just business as usual to have your PR people tell lie after lie and they don't lose our confidence over it.

Now if they would just decline to comment about all rumours, that would be their prerogative (and to be fair, a lot of them do just that), but we've come to the point where we can't trust anything they say because we know it doesn't mean anything.

I don't know about you, but any time someone's sole purpose in existence is to get my money out of my wallet and into their hands, I'm less than trusting.

So no, it doesn't surprise me that companies continually lie to consumers--if they think it'll earn them more $$, that's what they're going to do. A better question is, "Why is it suddenly striking you that billion dollar corporations lie a lot?"

If it's leaps and bounds better than the DS Lite I might consider getting it, but that's only because I have a DS Phat and I'd like to rub it in all the faces of my Lite-toting friends.
